Even if they had foregone questing for the time being, it was starting to feel like questing had been the safest thing they'd done since they became knights. Sure, they'd died a few times at the hands of wild animals or cliffs or stomach destroying sickness, but at least they weren't being held in a dungeon waiting to be executed anymore. They were outside in the wilderness, taking their chances together to try and find some kind of great treasure that could potentially help them in the long run. That had purpose. It had reward. And at the very end of it, a Great Knight didn't have to die for them to succeed.

It was, quite surprisingly, the better alternative.

So he mounted his horse once more, and took to the plains with his new wife, riding hard against the wind.

He immediately began to regret how positively he'd thought of questing when his horse ran him into a nest of bees, slamming his face so hard against it that it stuck there and continued with him on the journey for several seconds. He finally managed to rip it off, only to have an angry pack of the insects come buzzing for him, hell bent on retribution for his accidental destruction. They were quick, quicker than his horse even, and they managed to get a few stings in before Galaxy finally rode into a stream to get rid of them. The stream soaked through his bags, ruining several pieces of bread with every second that the water ate into the soggy crusts.

Step One

When he finally slowed his horse to check - and dry - his supplies, it took him a while to get rid of all of the soggy bread within. He finally separated all the good food from the ruined food, and found their stores sorely lacking. It was time to go foraging, or perhaps simply find a wild animal to replenish their food.

He walked both his horse, and Mildred's, slowly down a path as he considered his options, until a broken down caravan ahead gave him a better idea.

"Come," He called out to Mildred, holding his arms out for her so that she could dismount with his assistance. "I've found us a potential solution. We'll see if there's any supplies to be had in there, together."

And sure enough, there were. He found a box filled with food, and immediately began squirreling it away in Galaxy's packs.

Step 2

The question of whether he'd named his own horse came as a surprise, even as he finished putting away their supplies. He picked Mildred up and settled her down on Galaxy, even as she asked him about the horse.

"Ah, I cannot remember why I named her. Perhaps it was for you? Her name was all I knew, and I can tell that I understand what a galaxy is. It is everything up there in the heavens that we cannot reach, all those little tiny stars blinking down at us. Just like the little white spots all along her pelt." He patted the horse, and then leapt up to ride behind Mildred on her. His hands still held Moon's reins, leading her forward as they cantered along.

"It would be nice to remember." He murmured, bending his head in to rest his lips against her neck.

It was this sweet, tender moment, that had him missing the fire monster behind them until it was almost too late, and they had to burst forward, clinging to Galaxy in order to just barely not fall.

Step Three

He fell silent, unsure of how to answer. He didn't think she wanted to share anything with him, in the past. "If not," He murmured quietly. "You can share it all with me now. That's all that matters."

As they rose to the summit, eagles tried to pluck at their bones. Donning the cape he'd found, he was able to scare them away with his MIGHTY NEW WINGS.
