After all he had seen and all they had been through, one of Mmur;s greatest comforts was spending time with Franks. The horse had remarkably made it through quite a lot as well, but he remained safe in the stables whenever Mmur came to visit, whickering happily when the knight caught his eye. There was usually little reason for them to venture out into the darkness, but the knight had seen several of his peers sporting new and improved capes, and he had a feeling he knew where they had come from.
"Franks?" Mmur said as he approached the horse's stall. "It's time to go, buddy. One last journey. Together."
Franks, who thought this was all a little dramatic, waited until Mmur was in range, then snorted in the man's face.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 22/22 YOUR HP: 50/50

[ step one ]
Food had been scarce for a long time, nearly as long as they had been here, but there was always enough for those who braved the mountain. It appeared that would no longer be the case. Mmur grabbed what he could and packed it into Franks's saddlebags, carefully running his fingers through the horse's mane and pressing the hair flat. It was wing time.
Climbing onto his mount's back, Mmur urged Franks toward Camelot's gates. Soon they were out in the open air, though it was much less refreshing than it had once been. He recalled a clarity to the air before all of this began, even if the fathomless blue sky had all been an illusion. The knight kept his gaze on the trees, and Franks must have followed suit because soon they were tipping and nearly falling into a gorge, losing some of their precious rations in the process.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 16/22 YOUR HP: 50/50 Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! [ step two ]
The forest was particularly dark and gloomy today, a breeding ground for the creatures that supposedly resided inside. They hadn't ever been much of a real problem, but that didn't mean Mmur let his guard down. After the gorge debacle several hours earlier, he wasn't going to let some spiders and elves endanger him without trying to put them down. Unfortunately, Franks had made no such vow. The moment he saw one of the massive arachnids bearing down on him, he ran clear out of the forest and into the mouth of the labyrinth. Mmur let him do what he liked. As long as they were headed in the right direction, he couldn't complain.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 11/22 YOUR HP: 50/50 Quote: Rolling a 1: A giant spider scares you so much you drop whatever it is you're eating! -5 Food

[ step three ]
By the time Franks had recovered from being spooked, the two were deep inside the stone maze, trotting along in near silence. Of course there was no stifling the steady clop of hoofbeats, but Mmur felt safe enough once he had lit a torch. Why? Because he was dumb today.
They remained undisturbed for a time when they stopped for a snack, but it didn't take long for a threat to make itself known. Instead of a fire breathing monster or more spiders, an iridescent cloak fell from the ceiling, landing heavily on Franks's back. The horse neighed in distress and bounded off, leaving Mmur to give chase or continue on alone.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 6/22 YOUR HP: 50/50 Quote: Rolling a 5: Your horse gives up on you, running away. Mmur couldn't keep up with a horse on foot normally, but even so, he was decently aware of how fast one could travel. A moment ago, Franks had beaten that speed forty fold.
The knight was out of breath when he reached the mountain's peak, his irritation replaced by relief when he saw the horse standing safely next to the wizard. The man held the strange cloak gingerly, raising it so Mmur could grab it easily.
"The Wings of Tithonus," he said, as if that was supposed to be impressive.
"Mm," Mmur replied, as if he was impressed.
"They'll make you fast!" the wizard said, whipping his arms back and forth. "And keep you safe." He shook the cloak, helping Mmur drape it over his shoulders when the knight finally relented.
He turned to thank the wizard, but he and Franks were alone.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 11/22 YOUR HP: 50/50 Quote: Rolling a 6: An old man claiming to be a wizard hands you some food. Thanks, you guess? +10 food.
