She had her assigned patrol route drawn on the back of a Crystal Academy science worksheet, and a pen in her hand. The street names were carefully labeled in cramped handwriting--a caveat of space, not time or inclination. Bolton wanted to make Zircon proud of her. Zircon was her touchstone, her safe place, and she did not want the Captain to have any reason to turn Bolton out.

It wasn't that she was afraid of being alone. She liked being able to walk around the city in the quiet of night, when cars passed only rarely and the urban noise settled down into almost nothing. What she feared was losing access to the awesome cathedral-space of the Negaverse. Not what lay on the other side of the Hall of Shadows, oh no. But the crystalline caverns, where everything was quiet and no one could find her if she needed to hide. She did sometimes, when things became too much. Bolton would acclimate, but for now... for now she had her little corner in the rat's warren beneath the earth. She would hold onto it with everything she had.

Her aura-sense was unrefined, easily confused or confounded. So when she rounded a corner to see a senshi, she was surprised, but not entirely put out. She knew her duty with regards to senshi that didn't have that same darkness in their aura as she did, and it was attempt to destroy.

Zircon said so. That's how it would be.

Ah, the old territory. Machholz was out enjoying her night. She had a few more pearls of energy hidden away somewhere in the top of her dress. Damn the lack of pockets. Maybe her next upgrade she'd get pockets. That'd just be simply amazing. Either way, the gold eye senshi of poison wasn't actually paying too much attention to where she was going right now.

She had only gotten out a handful of times lately on patrol because her real life was driving her bananas. Money wasn't the easiest to come by since her name changed and things had happened that was still a bit of a blur. Of course she knew her girlfriend and Leto had helped her not die. She knew the General known as Buddingtonite had something to do with it, and she figured that's why she hated the man on sight. Whatever. The white haired senshi's heels clicked as she walked around without too much care in the world.

At least, until she felt an energy coming toward her rather suddenly. Had she been that distracted? As she rounded a corner, the other came into view and she blinked. Negaverse. Aaah. "Hello?"

She was little. Something in Bolton balked at that, and incongruously something floated into her head, not a memory but more like a rule, or any instinct. Back off, that instinct said. Child. Back off.

That wasn't how it worked anymore. That past self, whoever she had been, had died in the hands of a General-Sovereign. Bolton steeled herself and balled up her fists. "I'm sorry," she said, closing the space between them and throwing an absurdly natural punch, the sort of thing that came more from muscle memory than any sort of training. The right hook flowed smoothly from her shoulder right towards the girl's face.

The girl was a senshi. This was how it had to be. Zircon said.

And just like that there was an apology and then a punch landed directly against her cheek, causing her teeth to clatter and her jaw snap to the side. Machholz skidded to the side, tripping over her own feet, practically, to keep herself upright, but it didn't happen. Her ankle went one way and her body followed suit. Luckily she caught herself on her arms and hissed at the fact she had been punched, her ankle hurt, and now her hip and hands hurt.

Those gold eyes narrowed as she looked up at the Negaverse agent for just a second before she flipped herself back to her feet and then took a couple steps back. "Really? this is how it's going to be?" Didn't the DMC and the Negaverse have some kind of arrangement?

"You picked the wrong girl to punch." With that, she sped toward Bolton, stood on one leg and then threw a high kick at the other woman. Machholz was super. This girl felt like she was still a low level. Well, some people had to learn the hard way.

"You're a senshi," said Bolton, from where the senshi's kick had thrown her. She pushed herself off the wall and pressed her hands to her mask--it had prevented most scraping damage from making face-first contact with the nearest brick building. "It has to be this way." Zircon said. Zircon said so.

This is how it works, she thought. She tried another punch, stepping into the senshi's personal space again.

When the girl went sliding Machholz had tried to take her stance to use her magic. The plan was to use it and wail on the other until she actually caved and crumbled, or ran away. It was usually the tactic she had with completely stupid battles like this. Honestly what was the point?

But her bubble was popped again and she scrambled backwards, avoiding that second punch before doing a few back flips to get out of immediate reach.

"Poison Fog."

Maccholz puts her hands to her chest, takes a deep breath and blows out a thick fog/haze of gas that makes it hard to concentrate and breath (for enemies only). This covers a six foot radius around her and lasts forty seconds. Enough time for her to get in close and deliver a blow or to put distance between herself and her enemy.

Affected enemies would have trouble concentrating and keeping their breathing even, but it's not going to do much than make them slightly dizzy. The fog now also causes slowed movement, causing reflexes and movements to become sloppier.
