After their almost kiss on the wall, Janatheil and Asi’wi had made their way back down the wall, Asi’s cheeks still flushed, and back inside without someone so much as catching sight of them. The banquet had almost come to an end and, thankfully, the group was ready to head back to the Taos house and settle in for the night. Asi didn’t make eye contact with Jana the rest of the night. For fear that his cheeks would flame red again. In those brief seconds that Jana had been close, Asi’s mind had toyed with the idea of leaning forward — just a bit — and kissing him. He had half expected Jana to do so anyway. Asi laid awake long into the night, unable to fall asleep as easily as he usually did. And it wasn’t until Jana was fast asleep that he finally drifted off.
Asi’s dreams, however, were not about to let him sleep. Instead, one was filled with fear as he watched Jana fall from the sky and crash into the hard snow below the wall — body broken and battered. Another, an embarrassment that Asi wasn’t quite happy about. Jana leaning in close, his breath hot against his lips. And Asi wanted him to close that distance between them. Wanted Jana to kiss him.
Asi jerked awake, breathing heavy and heart beating frantically, as if it were trying to escape his chest. Early morning light filtered through his window as his attention jerked to the other side of the room. Only then did his heart calm as he caught sight of Jana’s form under the covers. Breathing out a sigh, Asi ran a hand over his eyes and huffed. Dreams. They had just been dreams. He laid there for what seemed like forever, eyed shut and willing himself to sleep. When that accomplished nothing, Asi slipped out of bed and moved out of his room, down the stairs and through the rest of the house, not bothering to dress just yet and instead staying in his undergarments.
Asi paused at the door that lead to the outside, thankful that no one was yet awake. It was likely early enough that he would not be seen outside either. Taking a deep breath, he pushed open the door and stepped out into the snow, barefooted. He sucked in a breath, welcoming the cold air that rushed into his lungs.

Janatheil slept soundly.
For all that he had not wanted to travel to Aisko to begin with — unfair as it had been, and much as he had still felt he had things to resolve at home — the trip had gone as well as he possibly could have hoped and then some. He had gotten a chance to explore, fight, see caves and dragons, race hastars — and flirt. Asi’wi was young, granted, and still a touch of a brat, but Janatheil liked him. It amused him to tease and watch the boy’s slew of expressions, and despite his initial fussing, he felt confident enough that in the end, the other liked him around, too, which was a victory of sorts.
As he drifted towards consciousness after a solid sleep, Janatheil stretched, stirring atop the warm mattress, unfurling his wings from their tattoos and lifting them out over himself. Good. Space, comfort, satisfaction. He yawned, repositioning himself and shifting a wing in order to open one eye and get a clear shot view of the bed beside him. Empty.
He grunted and shifted his weight. Poor sport. Today was his last morning here, and the other had already left. Perhaps he was out pouting. At the thought, Jana’s mind drifted back to the night before. He had almost kissed the boy then. Almost. But he hadn’t planned on pulling the move until later, and had wanted to make sure that Asi’wi would be receptive — in a positive way — when the time came. So he had waited. Pulled away. Hoped that Asi’wi was thinking or wanting of more, and he felt that surely he was. He certainly looked put upon enough and didn’t look at him after.
Janatheil shifted his weight, sidling his legs off the bed, sitting up and stretching with another yawn before standing. Mostly packed already, he needed but a few more odds and ends in order, but that could be dealt with. He started the process lazily, in no hurry to rush through it. The soft, barely-there yellow light outside filtering in from the windows told him that it was early yet, and he had more than enough time to dress and pack.
It was in that process that he busied himself, and wondered when his bedpartner would return to their shared room.

Asi remained outside for some time, breathing in the cool air of an Aisko morning, until he had finally calmed down. Muttering to himself, he turned to move inside. When he closed the door, he rested his back against it and closed his eyes. He had no right or reason to be having dreams like that about the orderite currently asleep in his room. He was arrogant, vain, brash...and funny and damned if he wasn’t fun to look at — his wings, in particular, always caught Asi’s eyes.
Asi grunted, shoved the thoughts to the back of his mind and pushed away from the door. Maybe, just maybe, he could get some more sleep in before anyone else woke up. With that new thought in his mind, he headed up the stairs and back to his room.

Janatheil, half-dressed in loose pants without shoes or shirt, was in the midst of layering something into a small satchel when the door opened and he turned. “Oh.”
He blinked, gaze flicking down, down, down. Up, up, up. Back to Asi’wi’s eyes. There, he grinned. “Morning, snow fairy. Was it, ah…chilly outside this morning? Out there thinking about how much you’re gonna miss me?”

Asi froze in place, eyes widening a second later As Jana turned around towards him. “I...uh…” His cheeks heated and quickly moved into the room, grabbing a pair of pants and jerking them on quickly. “I was getting some fresh air was all. I didn’t...expect anyone to be up…”

Janatheil watched, eyes trailing Asi’wi as he fled and snatched up clothes, his gaze sizing him up. Despite his teasing, he wasn’t all bad. For a thirteen-year-old. At the words, Janatheil chuckled and shrugged.
“I’m up early, sometimes…usually not, but…” He tilted his head. “You weren’t in, when I looked over, figured you were out somewhere…pouting about how lonely you’ll be when I’m not around?”

Asi snorted and shook his head. “No.” The denial, though not one hundred percent true, came easily enough. He had, mostly, been trying to forget his vivid dreams from the night before and the almost kiss. Asi sat down on the edge of his bed and began to comb his hair, removing the tangles and combing it back and braiding it. “When...are you leaving?”

Janatheil moved about, returning to his process of lifting and situating away several things before pausing at the question, and he watched for a moment, eyeing the sweep and tuck of the younger boy’s fingers threading through his hair. In, out, and around. Clearly familiar motions. They rooted Janatheil’s stare for a fraction of a second too long before he twitched his gaze away.
“Soon,” he said, lifting a shirt and shrugging into it. After tucking it in at his waist, he grabbed for a belt. “My boat arrives when the sun is at its peak. My aunt and I will head from here some three hours prior or so, to see that we don’t miss it. You should come to see me, though you know…” He sat, dropping to prop himself on the edge of the bed as he leaned over to grab for his boots and begin tugging them on. “I’d like it, and there’d be plenty to keep you busy in Serenia. I don’t think anyone should go all their life without seeing it…most beautiful continent the gods created.”
Reaching for his vest, Janatheil grabbed and then slipped into it before pausing with his fingers on his cloak.
“Last night…” He thumbed over the cloth under his fingers, wings stretching behind him just enough to brush along the sheets before his eyes moved again to study Asi’wi’s reaction. “If I had kissed you, would you have socked me?”

Asi’wi watched as Jana finished dressing and moved to grab his own shirt. As he was slipping it on, his cheeks reddened at Jana’s question and he was grateful for the temporary cover of his shirt. He grunted as he tugged it on the rest of the way and quickly turned away from Jana to make his bed. “I…” he said, as he began to answer, but quickly shut his mouth, unsure on what he was going to say. Would he have punched Jana? Something in his gut told him no and Asi was pretty sure it was the truth. He had wanted it, if he was being honest with himself. Had even been a tad upset when Jana had pulled away after the teasing he’d put him through.
Finally, after an extended silence and Asi’s bed was made he turned back around to face Jana. “No. I wouldn’t have socked you.”

Janatheil beamed.
“Good.” Slipping off the edge of the bed, he stretched, and then moved across the room to where he had his small satchel of things set on the floor against the wall. He crouched beside it. “Come here a moment, then. I want to give you something.”

At Jana’s look, Asi couldn’t help but let a small smile curve up the corners of his lips. Despite the rough start the two of them had, Asi really had grown to like the other boy and would miss him. When Jana spoke, Asi snapped back to the present and narrowed his eyes. What was Jana up to? He hesitated a moment, eyes flicking to the door and then back to Jana — debating. Finally, though, his curiousity got the best of him and Asi moved over next to Jana. “Hmm? What is it?”

Janatheil chuckled, his look warm and amused as he rose to a stand. “You don’t have to look so wary, you know. When have I ever lead you wrong, hm? Here…” He reached, trailing his fingers up in a ghost of a brush along Asi’wi’s jawline before settling his hand to a light rest at the boy’s nape and holding him still as he leaned in. As he had on the roof the night prior, Janatheil paused a hair’s breadth away, letting a single exhale mesh in the remaining space between their lips. This time, however, he closed it in the next moment.
It was a barely-there kiss, at first. A teasing, sweeping skirting of lips, more a tickle than a press. But he did not leave it at that. Once assured that Asi’wi was indeed not going to sock him, he tightened his grip a half-fraction and caught his mouth in his. A warm, full, hammocking push of lips, and Asi’wi’s were soft against his and inviting, but he allowed it to linger for a period just like that: close-mouthed, chaste, and gentle but unmistakable. Then, he shifted his head to a half-tilt, moving them and encouraging Asi’s lips with his in a teasing suckle followed by a grazing pinch of teeth.
Then, the barest flick of tongue in a silent, ‘Let me…?’

Asi tensed at first, one of his hands coming up to rest on Jana’s chest, fully ready to shove him away should he start teasing him — like he had the night before. When he pushed forward, though, and Jana’s lips made contact with Asi’s lips, he shuddered, lashes falling shut. He felt his cheeks heat as, after a moment’s hesitation and uncertainty, Asi kissed back. The hand at Jana’s chest gripped at his vest, tightening at the small n** and flick of tongue. Asi’s heart lept up into his throat as a small amount of panic filled his head. What was he doing? Why on earth was he kissing Janatheil? Tongue...was he supposed to… Asi guessed, and hoped he was right, at what Jana wanted and let his lips part slightly.

Janatheil grinned into the kiss.
Giving a careful, guiding push, he angled Asi back so that he was pressed to the nearby wall — and slipped his tongue in at the invitation. A lick of exploration, and his thumb was skirting down the side of Asi’wi’s throat, body pressed in just close enough to give a momentary brush of friction where his opposite hand found Asi’s hip and held him in. Then, he released him.
Leaning back to break full contact and taking a step to that effect, he tossed his company a toothy smile. “There. Now you’ve been kissed.” Letting one hand drop to the wall beside Asi’s head, he dipped once more, this time giving him a fleeting peck on the lips and all but immediately withdrawing again. “Twice. So you’ll have something to remember me by, yeah? C’mon…” He stopped, and grabbed his bag. “My aunt is probably already waiting on me, but you can come see me off, mm?”

As Asi was pushed against the wall, there was still a part of him that was yelling at him to push Jana away. When his tongue invaded Asi’s mouth however, all thoughts of that were shoved to the back of his mind as he instinctively flicked his tongue out, meeting with Jana’s. It was a messy kiss, in so far as Asi really didn’t have a clue what he was doing — was just following Jana’s guidance, however well that was. His body shuddered as Jana pressed closer and it was all he could do to keep standing. When Jana pulled away, Asi bit his lip, holding back a whine of annoyance.
Why had he stopped? Before Asi had time to even think about what that meant, Jana was leaning in for another kiss — this time light and over with before Asi even had time to close his eyes.
Leaving. Right. That was why he had stopped. Asi frowned as he let his eyes close again and he leaned his head back against the wall, concentrating on just breathing. When Jana spoke, Asi’s lashes flit open and he opened his mouth to speak. Nothing got out before he was closing it again and pushing away from the wall. He had been about a second away from asking Jana to stay but knew that it would have been stupid and foolish. What business did the orderite have here anyway? Besides, Jana had said so himself — he would be glad to return to Serenia. He only nodded a response and followed after Jana.
