B/C IT

Soulbound theme
-A soul manifests and binds to a physical object so a physical form can be taken
-The object is random, giving the choice between having an “owner” or no owner
-The soul is an animal-like (mythos or realworld) spirit and the object is corporeal and inanimate
Stages
-Starts as youth, able to move and interact freely and with some knowledge of the world. Allows for the manifest to operate without a guardian
-Grows in knowledge and magical ability into the older(?) teen stage
-Seeming the last of the stage as an adult who is fully manifested
-Last stage of truly manifest, has come fully into power
Plot
-Centered around the Doom Tree (haha). Within the tree a dark evil has been sealed away but is slowly breaking free to contaminate and destroy the earth. In a last ditch attempt, the tree releases soul seeds (?) scattering them to the wind where they land and sprout/grow/whatever on physical objects.

-The job of the pets are to try and gather good energy/feelings/wishes of those in the world around them to help combat this evil. Eventually combining their powers to seal away the evil forevermore

-Maybe in the extreme future the darkness has actually contaminated a soul seed and has manifested as one of the pets. Give us a corporeal villain. Maybe he destroys the tree but not before the tree send out the last of its seed to be planted and grow elsewhere into a new tree

-Hmmm and I still like having opposing factions somewhere. Maybe the miasma does contaminate the seeds all the time, creating more darker creatures. Not neccisarily evil but enough that there is light vs dark and vice versa/

Do we even want to have opposing factions? What if the souls all came from the same tree, but some are tainted a little bit? Or what if they all are, some more than others? Which gives them either “light” or “dark” traits however they have the choice who to follow. Will they work to save the tree and seal away the bad guy or will they support the bad guy, thinking that his ideals are their own. Perfect world maybe?
Is that too cliché? Should all the children just bloom from the tree and they’re all on the same side?

Why would they follow the bad guy? Is he offering something good? What? Family? Togetherness? New, peaceful world? Maybe the pets are trying to get back to where they were before their souls were released by the trees? That wouldn’t work cause then they’d know their past. Damn why would they follow the villain.

Maybe the villain knowing taints seeds or something specifically, hoping to build an army.

Or scratch all of that. Go back to the tree. Maybe the source of destruction is outside of the tree. Maybe the tree is the source of all knowledge/life and if it and it’s progeny are destroy the world is destroyed. Or maybe the miasma is a disease and it effects the tree and humans. (Too PD?) Or maybe that’s the mo of the pets its to get ride of the miasma in the world.
Then we could go back to the good and the bad, pets that wipe away the miasma and pets that create it. Maybe there’s even a neutral party too. Can neither create or destroy but can only watch. Fighter –>Healer-->Muse-->???

Maybe the miasma isn’t physical but mental, getting into people’s brains and driving them to mental disorder causing eventual death either suicide or just general neglect. So then you have the healer who comes and dissipates the miasma and then the fighter who creates it and breathes it into people. The muse tries to talk sense to everyone or even just watches as a neutral party.

WHAT IF THE MIASMA can also manifest into monsters? What if once it becomes strong in someone it manifests into a corporeal form and wrecks havoc, needing to be put out by the pets? Healer heals the person and fighter destroy’s the miasma creature.

Maybe the pets are all there to fight the miasma and the monsters it breed. Maybe you can get a pet from the tree or a pet from the miasma. Both can be tainted with bad or bred with good. And maybe at the end of their stage, depending on how you played them, they’re either looking more like miasma or not.

MAYBE instead of opposite factions its more like…what the pet has been tainted with. Like those little blue things in sonic. Depnding on how they’re raised theyre angelic, neutral, or demonic. Maybe the more you fight/get involved with the miasma monsters the more tainted you get. But the more you heal humans of miasma infestation you gain more good traits? Or maybe it just depends what kind of magic user you are. Maybe you either can control/battle the miasma, or you can heal it away
