At long last, Jake almost had all the armour pieces he was sent out to retrieve. Or, well, he was GOING to have all the armour pieces if this run was successful. It seemed the last thing he had to retrieve was a mantle adorned with... bloodroot. Why would the great king have a mantle covered in flowers? Then again, it seemed the king harboured a LOT of strange artifacts. Why would a king need pants covered in stars, and... wouldn't a helmet made of metal be much more practical, especially when fire was used as a common offensive/defensive tactic? The tabard and gauntlet made sense as they have images of magnificent beasts engraved in them, which could serve as boosting moral (and animal hide was quite efficient as armour itself, even if primitive), though gem-encrusted shoulder pads, well... He supposed kings could indulge. And gems could be sharp.
Still, this was something he could dwell on more after he had obtained the final piece. Hopefully this journey would fare better than his recent ones. He really hoped it would.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 23 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 1 - The Trek Forward ]
Setting out, Jake made sure he had all the essentials, which included food, water, making said food and water were CLEAN, and... his horse. And his sword. Pretty much the basic essentials any knight apprentice would carry on a journey out of Camelot. One thing that perked his curiousity though was how the artifacts seemed to be found in all the same places. How did that even work? After he had retrieved one artifact, did another suddenly appear after some time? If so, wouldn't it be easier to just camp out at the spot and retrieve them all at once? It seemed like common sense, but how long would one have to wait? As well, the amount of food and water to bring on such a journey would be... something to take into consideration as well. And... how would they even carry all of the items back in one trip? Seriously, that was absolutely implausible.
Well, he had more important things to worry about at the moment, such as fending off a rabid wolf.Quote: Rolling a 2: You encounter a wild *animal here* that is extremely rabid and ferocious. It blocks the path and attacks you! You take -10 damage! QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 23 YOUR HP: 20/30

[ Step 2 - The Winding Forest ]
Making his way into the forest, Jake's mind began to wander once more. The helmet... was it perhaps made from the trees here? There were various different kinds of trees here, and while he wasn't too familiar with the different kinds or stories about the trees, he had heard the myth. There were rumours that elves and giant spiders lived here, and while he couldn't testify the validity of the first one, the latter, unfortunately, was quite, quite true. Elves were creatures of magical affinity were they not? And... the fact one could easily become lost forever in these woods just by straying from the path did convince him it wasn't far-fetched to believe that there were magic within the trees too. It made him curious, and part of him wanted to test this theory, but... maybe another time.
He'd really best be on his way and- oh look, food!Quote: Rolling a 2: Someone seems to have left food on the road for you! How nice! +10 food. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 33 YOUR HP: 20/30

[ Step 3 - The Dwarven Mountains ]
It was strange how it was said that the forest harboured dangerous arrow-shooting elves, but it was only in the mountains that Jake had nearly died 3... maybe 4 times from arrows. Probably even more. He kinda lost count at one point.
Were dwarves... similar to elves? Jake didn't know the difference too well, except that both were kinda tiny and impish. Maybe one seemed more grotesque than the other? And from his experience, dwarves were clearly the more dangerous of the two... as well as more skilled with the bow, but that was a biased view, probably.
Good thing he didn't have to test his theory again, and instead came across a supply crate. Where was all this food coming from?Quote: Rolling a 6: You find a small supply crate from the last group of knights who tried to attempt this! +10 food QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 43 YOUR HP: 20/30

[ Step 4 - The Mountain Summit ]
Finally, Jake reached his destination, and located the artifact with no further hostilities. No, instead, he received hospitality, as an elderly man gave him food. Well, uh, he definitely didn't have to worry about food on his trip back.Quote: Rolling a 6: An old man claiming to be a wizard hands you some food. Thanks, you guess? +10 food.
