Somehow, it felt more like a miracle or some insane stroke of luck, Abbi awoke in the Great Hall. The knight tending to her was a kindly, portly fellow, who gladly informed her of her appearance at the castle's walls, unconscious but alive, and covered in wounds. He'd healed her back to new, even promised she wouldn't scar too god awfully! That was all glad news, if a little informally given...
But Abbi would not think poorly of her adventure, especially given the wonderful friend she'd made. Hopefully, it was entirely possible that the Lady Chel thought rather poorly of her after her horrid show of attempted bravery and overall failure.
But that would not stop the small knight!
It instead instilled in her a fire to do better, to do more, to fully succeed. So it was that she marched back to the Guild Master and all but demanded for another quest to take. She would do her best, she would do whatever it took to become a real knight and show everyone her abilities!
She would even hike all the way back up to the cave with the multi-armed woman and get the pretty matching armor to Lady Chel's!
And then she would prance around in front of her and make lots of flirtatious remarks about any and everything and then Chel would see! Abbi was strong in the real way that mattered!

Stubborn about taking the same murderously inclined, traitor pony, Abbi snatched up the map and stomped out of the castle and back onto the trail. The trek certainly wasn't fun without Lady Chel, but there was no way the girl could have asked her to tag long, not only with how dangerous it had been last time but also because she had something to prove. And that was that she could handle herself just fine, thank you!
Familiar with the way up the mountain thanks to her recent visit to it, Abbi made quick work of the path and paused for a short break and to admire her handiwork. She'd gotten pretty far fairly quickly and was very proud of herself!
Too busy being pleased with herself she didn't notice the little rabbit making its way near her until it nestled itself against her ankle.
"Oh! My, what a cute little thing! Look, I have a hare on my-- OH GODS!" The cute little rabbit had latched its teeth into Abbi's ankle.
It was, in fact, a ferocious and rabid rabbit.
Abbi felt no pity in kicking it off her leg. Look at the size of its teeth! It was awful!

That rabbit must really have been rabid because not too long afterwards Abbi felt very unwell.
Thankfully her horse was feeling obliging and brought her back to the castle safely. Maybe it wasn't so murderously inclined after all...

Perhaps this whole endeavor wasn't turning out exactly how Abbi had planned, but she absolutely, 1000% refused to let it stop her from continuing to try.
The Guild Master was quite familiar with her by now and only waved her on and the same blonde pony was brought out for her again.
"Alright Joker, you ready to try this again?" Abbi asked as she piled some food into a bag. "We are definitely going to make it this time. I can feel it!"
The horse flicked its tail and wiggled an ear, and Abbi assumed this was high praise indeed.

Of course, because she felt so surely about how the trip would go, there was not long before the girl got her answer.
She'd hardly made it out the castle's gates before she was turning back around and hopping back into her cot for a nap in hopes of riding out her terrible, sudden sickness.

"No! No I am going to complete this quest no I-- No I will do it-- GIVE IT TO MEEEEE!"
After the conversation with the Guild Master had devolved into yelling, Abbi quickly turned to whining as loudly and annoyingly as possible. Certainly it wasn't the best method, but it got her what she wanted because eventually he relented and handed her back the map she'd already asked for twice.
Triumphantly the teen jumped around for a moment before she raced off to get her things together. This time she'd really get it done!

One might think that Abbi had discovered, after all her trekking up and down this particular mountain path, where the path got slippery but alas, that was folly to think. After all her troubles, the girl nearly fell to her death when she misstepped and lost her footing.
Had it not been for the quick thinking of her pony she might have truly fallen, but once he'd rescued her there was a long time upon which she just stood on the path and did nothing but praise his name.
Maybe this whole time they'd just misunderstood each other!

So enamored and happy that her pony had actually tried to help her, Abbi didn't even mind the bit of food she'd accidentally dislodged during her minor detour. It was small potatoes compared to her actual journey.
That part she actually said out loud and then laughed at herself over, because look it was Abbi she did this sort of thing.

As much praise as Abbi had given her horse, it was not enough to convince it to continue on the path they'd begun for about half way through the forest it gave a very horsey shrug and turned away from the girl.
"WAIT! Wait wait where are you going? I didn't even step on a bee's nest this time-- There wasn't even anything scary--" Abbi hastily tugged at the strings of the food bags she'd tied to the horse's saddle, but was unsuccessful in getting all of them off and the horse was pretty quick to gallop off from here.
"Fine ya big coward!" It was all bravado, she really hadn't wanted him to abandon her, he was so nice! He'd saved her! He had all her food!!

The roaring noise is heard first before its seen, but Abbi really wasn't planning on hanging around to see whatever doom was barreling straight toward her.
Thankfully for her it was way faster than she was and caught up pretty quick, so she got a decent look at the freakin' fire lion. She threw some bread at it and mourned the toast she was giving up, but it seemed to save her life so she wouldn't cry over it.

Tired, partially singed in places from where that crazy fire thing had gotten too close, really upset about loosing her horse, and nearly out of food, Abbi finally found the cave with the multi-armed woman. She was careful to avoid the snake pit this time, but when she got to the raised crystal dias in the back of the temple there was a new chest waiting for her.
When the girl wearily opened it, she found a beautiful set of armor inlaid with pearls and dripping a few strings of the gem. It was beyond anything she thought she'd find and Abbi handled it gently despite how sturdy it looked.
She was beginning to smile wider and wider as she left the cave and began her descent back down to the castle. When she'd eaten the last of her food she was accosted by an old man who graciously gave her enough to make it back to the castle, of which she paid with a cheery smile and a small pearl beads she wouldn't let him leave without.
But she had done it. She'd gone and gotten her armor and found her strength.
