Would there every truly be a better choice for spending her time, than getting up on her mount and heading out into the wilderness alone, in order to find an artifact and also some peace and quiet? She doubted it. She had begun to get used to the sounds of little to no wildlife, due to the scarcity of what survived the shadows attacks now. Still, when she found a particularly beautiful blossom, or a friendly little hardy creature, she counted her blessings.
This trip would be no different, she told herself. It would be fraught with danger, and she would likely come from it just a little more haggard, but it was worth it for the peace that the solitude and wilderness afforded her. It refreshed her, and re-energized her for the battles to come.

Gone were the troublesome thoughts of the men who she'd met, with their sour faces and abrupt way of speaking. Gone were the unfortunate, the dead that could not be helped in the shelters. Gone were the leering smiles of those whose minds had little else but filth in their thoughts. All that she had, was safety, solitude, peace, and bees. Wait. She did not want that last one. She screamed as they got into her veil, and as the horse abandoned her on the ground, leaving her to fend for herself. He was not a very good horse. Even though Jericho returned to her after all of the bees were gone, he soon abandoned her once more when he found her to be tiresome. Riley never quite minded walking as much as others might have, but she was getting a little tired of how rude her horse was being during this trip. Even if he didn't want to carry her, the least he could have done was stay by her side. She thought she was a fine horsewoman, but Jericho was fussier than usual today, and she couldn't help but simply let him be on his way whenever he wanted. Even if that did mean losing food in the process as he trotted merrily along on his own. Quote: Rolling a 3: Your horse gives up on you, running away. The only issue she had with being abandoned was that walking through the forests and plains on foot gave her more of a chance to step on booby traps. This time, when she stood on one, she felt the depression under her feet and started running immediately. She wasn't fast enough to get away from them completely, but she certainly managed to get a head start. When Jericho finally returned, she tried to show him the snake bite on her leg to try and guilt trip the horse into no longer abandoning her. He reacted much like a horse would react, by sniffing the leg shown to him and not caring at all nor understanding what she was getting at. It took quite a bit of finagling to convince Jericho to carry her all the way to the mountainside, but there she left him, repeatedly requesting him to stay where he was and not run away while she was gone. Then she turned, and climbed up the mountain. When she reached the highest hill, her hands felt chaffed from the climb, but she found nothing there waiting for her that would stop her from taking her prize. This time, it was a set of shoulders, with strange tentacle markings and slithery protrusions coming out of them. They looked quite odd, and out of place on her. She put them on anyway, and climbed down the mountain. Jericho had not abandoned her, and for this she was grateful as she rode him back to the castle.
