Cambria had a mess of books to return...and the worst thing was that they were just shy of being overdue, so that was always an issue. She had renewed her bounty of books twice, but she was at her limit...so there she was, back at the library, though...this time she had two working arms. So that was good.
The girl made her way towards the check out counter, quite happy that she had made it before the building closed...and she was right on the brink, allowing herself only three minutes to return the books before closing time.
She glanced around and though she didn’t see anyone...that didn’t mean that nobody was there...so she began unloading all of her books on dragons, sighing as she saw the picture of a red colored dragon on the front of one. It made her think of Merlinite...and that just made her sad.
She hoped that he was doing okay and that he was getting enough to eat and just...that he wasn’t more unhappy than he needed to be...
With a heavy sigh, Cambria turned around, preparing to leave the library and head on home...or maybe out to patrol...she wasn’t quite sure of where she was going yet.

Tony was not unused to people coming in late to the party, to return books or pay late fees right at the end of the day, when they absolutely had no other choice but to do it. It was still not something he particularly liked, as he tended to be alone in the library when he closed, having sent the rest of the employees home and taking care of the nightly duties himself.
He looked up from cleaning one of the sitting areas not far from the entrance, where someone had really been enjoying a large lunch that they then did not have the strength or will to dispose of. He heard someone enter, seeing the door close as someone was walking toward the front counter.
Putting down the garbage bag, deciding the mess would still be there in a few minutes and it was not dire that he was being interrupted from doing something he did not really want to do, he hurried to head back toward the counter.
"Ah, hello! I'm sorry, I'm here, we're still open! Did you need some help?" He moved toward her to help her with her pile of books. He recognized the girl and the titles, smiling at her. "Did you find anything out about dragons like you wanted? You had these for a while!"
Little did she know that the half dragon she was worried about was actually downstairs at that moment, sleeping.

“Oh hey! Yeah I just wanted to return the books that I had borrowed...they were pretty good...though they didn’t have the answers that I was really looking for, but...I have some hope now I guess.” She shook her head, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “I think dragons are wonderful...but I’m kind of worried about what they eat...how on earth are you supposed to get cows for them...I suppose steaks will suffice, but...”
Cambria paused. “Oh lord. I am just a wacko, that’s all. I’m sorry I keep saying dumb things...and now I can’t even blame the painkillers since...well...”
She wiggled her cast free arm and just laughed.
Had she known that Merlinite was just right downstairs...she would have been down there in a heartbeat. But...for now she just had to wonder about him sadly. Forever.
“Uh...I hope you’ve been well, You look less...tired this time...?” Oh wow...sometimes conversations were just...hard.

Tony listened to her, arching his eyebrow.
Before, when she came to find the books, he had not seen what had become of Merlinite, and the thought never entered his head. Now that he had a half dragon living in his basement here, he supposed he could relate a little bit more to her curiosities, and they struck him as oddly fitting for the situation.
What did dragons eat? He did not think Dennis would want to eat a cow, and seemed happy enough to have human meals and snacks brought to him, or to go out and find his own food when he needed to. Camelot was trying to supply him with a stock to pick from, but it was slow going or them both.
"It's good to see you're healed up! But don't worry about saying dumb things. I don't think being interested in something and asking questions about it makes you sound dumb. Anyway, if there was ever a place for that kind of thing, it would be here in the library."
If you couldn't ask questions in the library, where could you ask them?
"I feel less tired, though at the end of the day that's a little hard to convince my body to actually believe. Anyway, I'm sorry these books didn't help as much as you would like. Are you looking for more?"

Cambria shook her head. “Well, you are a lot more open minded than I can ever hope to be, I think.” She gave a little grin, and then looked thoughtful. “I don’t think I need any more books on dragons...but you don’t happen to have any books around here about the...the strange things that go on in this city do you? Like...has anyone ever bothered writing anything about the stuff here?”
If they had...maybe one of those books would have insight to youma...and how to get rid of them...without killing them. Or hurting them...or getting hurt. Or maybe there would just be a ‘how to get rid of Painite’ book...that would really be one worth checking out.
“I mean...that would be kind of silly, I suppose...” She shrugged. “Other than that...I’m really good on books. And...yeah. Thank you for all of your help and for just listening, I appreciate it.”
He seemed like such a nice guy...and he seemed like he knew so much...she just wished that she could be honest with him...maybe he really would have an answer.
But...alas. She could not.

Tony smiled, but didn't say anything right away. He supposed he could be considered open minded, but he was more just used to seeing far stranger things than simple questions and curiosities. The library, and all its patrons, even at their worse, was still a lot more 'normal' than the things he saw as a Royal Knight.
Her question about the city, though, gave him a moment of pause.
"Ah. I'm sure some people have tried to write a book about this place, though I think you're more likely to find information in the periodical and reference sections. We have the newspapers from the city, of course, and articles and essays written by professionals and scholars on the subject would be there too. More first hand accounts that newspapers are not willing, or unable, to print."
He wasn't sure what she was looking for, specifically, but he was now very interested. His instinct to protect was flaring to life, and he was immediately worried about her getting into more trouble than she knew how to deal with.
"What are you looking for? Maybe I can help you find something more specific?" Or at the very least he could make sure to keep an eye on her, if she was getting into trouble.

“I...I suppose I’m looking for information about the uh...the monsters...Like...where did they come from? How were they made...were they anything before they were...uh...monsters...”
There was really nothing she could do to make it seem like she wasn’t as involved as she was...but...if Tony knew anything about youma...well...she wanted to know too. For real. Maybe that would help her find a way to help Merlinite and get him back to his old self...and then find a way to get him to be better than his old self...and they could go to the movies and have fun. And have fun...and stuff.
“So that’s...just what I was wondering, you know? I mean they’re everywhere...so...they have to come from somewhere...” She looked around and sighed. “But there’d be no books on it, huh? That kind of stinks. Maybe I’ll start uh...researching out in the field, you know? Poke the monsters with a stick or something.”

Tony watched her for a long moment, blinking. She was getting herself involved in very dangerous things, but of course, he was a little out of his depth as far as being stuck as a civilian in order to warn her against it. Still, he had been here long enough to have his fair share of monster stories, even before he had ever powered up to join the war.
"I've met a few of those monsters you're talking about. The ones they try to keep out of the news, but are most definitely here."
He tilted his head at her, frowning in a very fatherly, concerned way. It was like he was about to tell her not to walk home alone, or to drive carefully.
"I really don't suggest poking monsters with sticks. Or going near them at all, if you can help it. They're very dangerous, and you could get yourself killed if you look too far into it without the proper care or help."
Of course, Tony knew all about the half youma, and how there was still something redeemable in them, though it was locked away by chaos. He wanted to try, just as she did, to save them. To help them be human again. But it was a path he had only just set on, and he had no real suggestions on that front.

Cambria nodded. “I know they’re out there...and I’m pretty sure that a good most of them are really dangerous...but...I’m sure I’ll be okay.” She was a super senshi now, at least. She had proved she could at least handle herself pretty well, so that was good.
“I have no intention of getting myself killed, but I do appreciate your concern...maybe one day I’ll be able to write a book about the monsters and you’ll be able to make a Destiny City reference section of the library...that would be pretty cool.”
The girl rocked back on her heels for a moment and sighed. “Well, I suppose I should be going and let you close up here...I’m sorry for keeping you so long...but I’ll be back. I promise.” She grinned sheepishly and gave a little wave. “You keep yourself safe out there too, the monsters don’t discriminate, that’s for sure.”
She moved quickly past him and outside then, unwilling to keep talking about the youma...it was so hard not to just boast that she could handle herself because she was endowed with the power to do so...but that was something you didn’t let civilians know...unless you knew that they also had the same sort of power...but there was no way of knowing that he had that...so there she went.
But she would be back...Tony seemed to know something, that much was for sure...so she would be back. And soon.

Tony smiled, but his concern was still clear on his face. He did not think she was going to avoid danger, like she said, but he was hoping that he just did not know her well enough to take what she said as fact. Who knows, maybe she was the kind of person that never lied?
He would just have to keep meeting up with her, to keep an eye on her and to learn a bit more about her. If he could. It was harder to protect someone when he was not powered up, or they did not come to him for help. But that never stopped him before.
He would try to make sure that if she did go find the wrong youma, he would be there to help her.
He watched her as she hurried away, shaking his head and resisting the urge to follow her. He was a librarian right now, not a knight, so following her around and saying it was for her own good was probably not going to fly. There were only certain conditions and situations where that was okay, particularly with a man his age.
For now, though, he just had to hope she stayed safe. He sighed, not really liking leaving things to luck. Good luck, in this city, was hard to come by.
