Alassiel had heard some disturbing news from travelers. The Alkidikes had been acting up, rumors of raiding were floating around and Alassiel simply could not risk her family being in danger. As much as she wanted to keep moving towards Matori, she had to turn back and head back home. Her family tree was rather close to the border, if she didn`t go back now and something happened it would forever haunt her. So, she`d grabbed Raysh and headed back home. Alassiel had made it into Jauhar and its familiar forest just in the nick of time, the sun was setting and she set up camp.
Before it became too dark, Alassiel set up her tent and fire, readying food and provisions she found around and by the time the stars had come out bright in the sky she had settled by the fire. Raysh had fallen asleep even though it was still quite early and was snoring by the tent. Alassiel yawned and took a few bits to eat, tomorrow she would be reunited with family and hopefully everything would go well for her. She didn`t know how they were going to react after she`d suddenly gotten up and left them.

Maya had been wandering towards tale for some time. There had even been a point where she had caught a glimpse of the Mystic heading towards the same direction. The rumors that followed this new mystic, or preceded her in some cases were proving to be quite terrifying to the Alkidike woman. She was a different kind of mystic, quite different from Eshe and Kadriye. Shaking the thought from her head Maya glanced around the forest. She could smell a campfire not far off from where she was. Pacju, as always, huddled close by and always seemed ready to move whenever Maya did. A small comfort to the warrior on her travels. Interested to know if the fire belonged to the Mystic and her company Maya stalked forward. Reaching the edges of the camps boundary and staring on. Her eyes seeking out the Alkidike mystic but not really seeing anything she had been expecting.

The sounds of the forest were usually comforting, Alassiel wasn`t a particularly jumpy Shifter but her eyes did scan the darkness just beyond the light of the flames. She didn`t see anything at first, she had barely head a sound so perhaps it was just an animal. Though she did rise from her seat and sake her trident in hand, holding it up and leaning on it. There was nothing at first and Alassiel almost settled back down when a form did come into view. She was surprised to see it was an Alkidike and for once she wasn`t too sure how to respond so she starred for a bit.
“Greetings,” Was she a scout for some sort of raiding party? Alassiel certainly hoped not. Alkidikes were quite the warriors and she would not survive a scuff with a group of them. “Can I help you?”

Maya stared for a moment at the earthling near the fire. Tilting her head curiously. She appeared to be a shifter, and if she really was a shifter, what was she doing against the forest floor? Didn't she know it wasn't safe down here? Did she lack the ability to climb trees and hide in them? Or was she trying to send a signal to some others. Shrugging Maya stepped more into the light, however Pacju remained as much in the shadows as possible. Shaking her head at the girls question Maya lifted a finger to point towards the fire. "Why would a shifter like yourself be so close to the forest floor and with such a bright flame? Are you trying to signal others? Perhaps draw attention to yourself?" Thinking back Maya tried to remember if she had stumbled upon any other shifters in hiding, was this a trap perhaps? She had known that some of her sisters were now going about causing a great deal of trouble. Though it didn't seem like a war had started so maybe it was in her head.

Blinking a few times, Alassiel followed the direction she had pointed and chuckled. Sleeping near the ground was a bad habit she had picked up because she felt leaving Raysh on the ground unprotected was a bad idea. Alassiel tilted her head as she looked over to the sleeping Talbuk. “I don’t like leaving him alone on the ground; I don’t feel like it is safe enough.” And she certainly wouldn’t leave him down there if Alkidikes were storming about stealing things. Raysh made quite the good pack mule when he was cooperative and she wouldn’t be able to travel as far without him.
“As for the fire, cold fish is not exactly my thing. ” Alassiel still had a few fishes left from her last travel to the water, if she didn’t eat them now they would go bad and she would lose some. “The fire will be put out once I am done.” The Alkidikes were quite iffy about their forest and she didn’t want to worry this one with a fire. “Are you traveling by yourself?” If she was, perhaps she’d invite her to join her; maybe she could shed some light on what was going on since she had left.

She had a point there, it would be hard to get such a creature up in the trees and the forest was a dangerous place for Talbuk. They made amazing food sources in her daughters opinion and Radaku were omnivores Maya couldn't help but wonder if perhaps the beasts found Talbuk tasty. "Seems fair, with so many Radaku lurking the forest. It's a wonder they haven't bothered you yet." Maya watched the fire for a moment. "Fish isn't my thing either, hot or cold I much prefer fruit and nuts to meat." Giving her antenna a flick a she felt around for Pacju, the Radaku still circled the outskirts of the camp as if trying to asses if it was safe enough for them. Blinking at the girls question Maya gave one sharp nod. "Yes I travel alone for the most part these days, I'm following a distance behind a friend of mine."

“Another reason for the fire, keeps the nasties away.” There was no surer protection than fire because things could get up trees and even the highest branch was not as safe. Fire burned and injured, it was not wise to mess with it. With the girl’s words, Alassiel fully planned on taking Raysh with her into the tent to make sure nothing got him while she slept. She was also going to make sure all sides were tightly shut and secured to the ground so nothing could get in. She’d forgotten in her time away how dangerous the forest floor could be.
“I have few of those.” Though if the girl was traveling she probably had her own supplies, Alassiel was simply being polite. Seeing as she didn’t see any issue with the girl joining her, the Shifter sat back down. “You’re welcomed to join me if you like. I won’t be going to sleep for a while.” Alassiel didn’t think she was lying and if she was traveling alone it meant she wasn’t part of the things she’d heard. Though she could have some information on what was happening. The Shifter didn’t want to start an argument but she did want news on what was going on.

Maya stared at the fire for a while. She didn't really have anything to say to the stranger. She lacked interest in the girl, and didn't like small talk either, so many things were troublesome these days. Teiluj would have been better at creating conversations than she was, she missed her daughter a great deal but knew she needed to give the girl some space to grow. "While the fire might keep some natural enemies at bay, I'm afriad it sends a signal to others that you're here. Others like my sisters." Waving a hand at the offer for food Maya shook her head. She wasn't much for eating, didn't like the way it felt like it bogged her down. She felt lighter with less in her belly and she was content that way.

“Your sisters…” Alassiel took the girls words with mixed feelings. “So the rumors are true then?” Perhaps it was not wise to let the Alkidike girl sit with her, maybe she’d wait till she was asleep and then run off to those sisters. Alassiel had no plans on being robbed, not tonight and not any other night. All she wanted was to go home and protect those she loved from said Alkidikes. “Tell me, are your sisters looking to start a war?” They’d just finished some very tense moments with Oba and now the Alkidikes were acting up? It was not a good sign for Tendaji.

Maya blinked a few times before shrugging her shoulders. "I have no idea what rumors you've heard. But if you're talking about an aggressive bunch of them trying to chase out earthlings and causing a great deal of harm to those who's blood is mixed..." Maya trailed off as she watched the girl. Her next question seemed to pull Maya into her thoughts. She really had no idea what really was happening with the strange, vocal group of women. Just that they had threatened and nearly killed her daughter just for being who she was. "I don't know what they are up to, in all honesty. I just know they seem to have a grudge against those who aren't born pure like them. My daughter was targeted by them, sadly. At least she survived." Groaning at the information she had so willingly shared Maya sighed again. Her antenna twitching as she followed Pacju's movements as the Radaku entered the camp to settle beside her.

Well this was news to her. She knew they were chasing out Earthlings, but chasing out their own even if they were mixed blood? That, Alassiel did not know. The news seemed to make her pensive for a few moments, this was odd. “This is very strange. I knew they were raiding, I didn’t know they were chasing out their own.” Perhaps this girl was friendlier then she’d originally thought. They’d tied to harm her daughter which meant she wasn’t too pleased with them either. Perhaps she’d have more information cone she was back home, they had to know something more… Why this was happening.
When the Radaku appeared Alassiel jumped in surprised, hands to her spear in a hurry. Once she saw that the creature belonged to the Alkidike, she relaxed and planted her spear in the ground once more. If she’d wanted to ambush Alassiel then she could have easily done so with her Radaku. “That’s a good pet to travel with.” She herself wished she had something a little more… Proactive as a pet instead of her Aldabuk, it would make her travels a lot safer than they were now. “Well I thank you for the information, I’ve been gone for a little while, I had no idea.” Then after a few moments added. “Where are you headed?”

Maya's shoulders sagged as she groaned at the question of her destination. She really had no idea where she and her traveling companion were going. She just knew she had to leave Jauhar for a while. Her own spirit had a hard time settling in any one location since she had departed Aisha's domain, making it hard for her to linger in one place for any length of time. Traveling aimlessly just seemed to suit her better.
"I have no destination in mind, the feeling of being able to travel is what calls to me. Besides, I feel better not knowing where my path will take me. I just travel with my companions and leave it at that."

From the reaction the girl had given, the question had been an unwelcomed one. Alassiel had never met an Alkidike before, she didn’t really know if they liked staying with their own or traveling.
“That was also how I travelled before I had to return home,” the thought saddened her a little. She adored traveling and she felt she’d returned home too soon. If things hadn’t been so dire she would have continued on, ah well. Things happened.
“Have you traveled far? Where have you travelled to?” Maybe she’d share, maybe she wouldn’t be Alassiel was curious to know where the Alkidike had gone.

Maya avoided looking directly at the fire, the light had a way of burning her eyes which made her uncomfortable. Shifting her position around a little Maya ran her hand along Pacju's back as the Radaku curled up beside her. "The excursions have proven useful." Maya added slowly. "I've learned from traveling, learned things I probably would never have known otherwise."
Shifting her gaze over to the earthling Maya lifted her finger and began counting on them. "Lets see, I was born in the isle Chibale obviously." Maya gave a light chuckle and ticked a finger down. "Which makes sense I've traveled around the other isle permitted... that was before I landed in Jauhar for most of the time. I answered the call of my elders to help explore. So I was there when Sauti was discovered." Three more fingers fell one after the other. "And I helped push into Zena... though... " Maya shivered at the memory. "I wont go back there, it's too cold. And I've not been into Oba or any of the newer places. The war held me back. I had someone I needed to protect at the time. She at least can look after herself now."

Alassiel's brows lifted in surprise, she had traveled quite a bit. “Much more than me,” she chuckled. “I didn't have plans for Zena, I am of the same mind as you too cold.” She'd heard tales and didn't want to bother with going to find out herself. The Shifter assumed she meant she was protecting her daughter during the war. She too hadn't been out much because of the war, but now she was stronger and she wanted to visit Matori and the Water tribes that resided there. Perhaps even bring back some expert fishing knowledge for her family. “If another war breaks out because of these conflicts, will you participate?” Alassiel wouldn't hold it against her, she herself planned on participating to save her family.
