The battles and struggle to learn how to heal had begun to wear her thin, and Riley knew she needed some time alone. So she set out on another journey, because the world was still filled with artifacts that needed to be discovered, and she reveled in the solitude of an adventure - even if they were usually fraught with danger and illness. It was still better than having to deal with the close proximity of dastardly people, bent on trying to convince her there was no afterlife and hope was for fools.
Who did they think they were, anyway? The world was a dark and dangerous place, certainly; but they, the knights, were supposed to be the one last ray of hope. And yet, those words, filled with malice and contempt for anything to do with divinity, did nothing but attempt to bring others down.
What good would that do? Where in the code of knights did it say that they were not allowed to believe there was more to this life than what they had to endure here? It was absurd!
Her solitude was being clouded by thoughts of someone not worth her time. She focused, even as the horse began to trot, on clearing her mind and returning to inner peace at once.

It did not take long to find herself in mortal peril, which was just as good for clearing the mind as meditation was. She hopped off of the horse and brandished her staff, now emboldened by her newfound ability to fight the shadowy monsters that plagued their castle walls. Unfortunately, the wilderness was a harsher climate, and when the wolf bit into her, it left it's mark. She fought it back until it ran, but she was well worse for wear. Step One Quote: Rolling a 2: You encounter a wild *animal here* that is extremely rabid and ferocious. It blocks the path and attacks you! You take -10 damage! After a quick binding of her wounds, she thought it would be clever to rest up and get eating out of the way since they'd already stopped. So she pulled out some of her rations, and laid them carefully on the horse saddle. When she pulled apart the bread, she noticed that the saddle was laden down with something else, other than her food. It was a giant black spider, having crawled up to investigate the source of nourishment. She knocked it, and the food, off of Jericho's saddle and took off. Jericho did not appreciate the sudden movement and the way she screamed when she knocked off the spider. He thought that she was telling him to run, and he took heed of the command by bolting away from her, leaving her foodless and mountless for the time being. She continued on foot, lamenting how easily she was startled. Step Three Quote: Rolling a 5: Your horse gives up on you, running away. It wasn't long before she found Jericho, and rode him at a hasty speed until they reached the mountains. Here, she left him - but not before giving him a stern, lengthy speech about leaving her stranded. He looked very attentive, but that was because he thought she was going to give him a carrot, with that finger she kept wagging at him. She climbed the mountainside, and headed up to the top of the highest hill. When she found her way to the artifact, it was an unlikely item. A set of gauntlets, each with symbols that looked strangely tentacle-like. It was a sea creature, to be sure. She put them on, and stretched her hands out as she felt them settle in. They felt right. They helped her climb down the mountain with ease, and when she found her way to the bottom, Jericho was still waiting for that carrot. She patted his mane, and hopped back up onto his saddle. She returned to the castle wearing her new handgear, and just a little more pride. Step Four Quote: Rolling a 5: Somehow, you made it safely. Somehow. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 14 YOUR HP: 20
