Galena was rarely early for the designated days specifically set aside for Antiope and training with her, but tonight she was.
One boot rested on the bench of a nearby wooden picnic table while the other leg hung free. She perched on the table surface, letting the long, floor length cape that denoted her rank splay out and drape down to the grass. A perfect staging while she waited patiently. General Galena.
In spite of her insecurities about talent and usefulness, the inability to form bonds, the stresses of survival in the hostile world she found herself in, Galena had made it to a respected ranking. Now there were loose ends to tie up.
She had been tormented by Antiope's presence on the opposite side for some time. Enough to consider purification, but there was a host of reasons that was a foolish choice. Tonight, though, she had a plan.

Jun was still fuming over the information she had been given. Information from a man who had nearly ended her life.
She was merely a toy to Galena. A toy to a girl she considered a prized student.
The man had spoken of a future that she couldn’t change. A destiny written in the stars made of darkness. Many girls might have given up and succumbed to such a notion that they could not fight destiny.
Jun was not so easily satiated.
She had mentally debated if she should even show up that Thursday, but in the end, she decided she was no weakling, hiding away from an uncomfortable situation. She was Jun and she was also Antiope, Senshi of the Mantis! Backing down was not her style. She could fight any opponent and win with enough effort.
She had her gym bag slung over her shoulder as she trudged her way to the usual spot. The grass was cool and tickled her toes as she walked, a familiar sensation to the girl who had been known to train without the comforts of shoes. Her hands and feet were wrapped, prepared for any work out. She didn’t know what she was going to say, but Jun had never been the sort to think her words through carefully.
However, as she drew close to the designated spot, a familiar form seemed to bloom before her upon a bench. The anger and rage she had felt upon being told of Galena’s intent seemed to return, causing her little form to tremble. And just like that the words had found their way to her throat.
“GAAAALLL!!!!!” her voiced roared from her small body as she stepped firmly closer, each step heavy and crushing the grass beneath her bare feet.

Galena glanced up at her name, expecting to see Antiope and then… not. Galena had seen Jun before, at the New Years Masquerade, but she had no reason to think Jun and Sailor Antiope were one and the same. Especially not when she was approaching apparently lathered up in a rage.
So the reaction to the strange human girl screaming her name-- Knowing her name-- was one of complete and utter confusion.
“I… I’m sorry?”
And then she glanced down at the gym bag, and it all seemed to come together. “Antiope…”
A stern expression overtook her face as she planted her feet on the grass and stood up. “Antiope, do you have any idea how much danger you put us both in by not keeping your civilian identity separate from your senshi one? Power up this instant.”

She hadn’t even realized she was not powered up, but at the moment that wasn’t important. For a moment, she stood there, glaring at the woman before her, throwing her bag against the ground in a sort of defiance to the General’s advice. Her breath was heated as she scanned over the outfit.
It was new.
The little senshi might not have been the brightest crayon in the box, but she remembered that Galena’s outfit had changed before as well, a sign of a new rank. Any thoughts of congratulating her student had been dashed long ago. With a heavy pant, she uttered “I’m not doing this for you...”
With a fierce step, she went back to her gym bag’s side, unzipping it and pulling out a green pen-like object with a golden topper to it.
“Antiope Power, Make-Up!!”
After seeing Antiope perform multiple forms within the Northern Mantis style, the General would find the girl’s movements very familiar as she magically donned the familiar uniform.
With her uniform now on and her power as high as it was going to get, the girl stomped forward like a child having a temper tantrum, her anger evident in a task as simple as walking.
“What the HELL is this I am hearing about the future, Gal?! Tell me, what do you know about the future!!”

Galena froze, and then folded her arms. “I saw a future where the Negaverse won and Chaos ruled. You had converted to our side and we worked as a team. Until Princess Iris killed you.”
She shifted her weight from one hip to the other. “Is that why you’re so angry?”
Galena had deliberately avoided using more blunt terms. In the future she remembered, Antiope had been something of a pet, one she enjoyed having at her beck and call. She had, at first subconsciously and then actively, going through the same little motions of affection she had seen herself do in those dreams. The strokes on her cheek, the way she pet her hair.
Now, as a general, she had come here tonight fully intending on taking Antiope into the Negaverse. Whether by force or willingly, it would have been her choice, but faced with this anger, she had a creeping suspicion her plan to use a specific kind of force was going to be definitely necessary. All she knew was that she was going to change that future for the better, and whoever had spilled the beans and invoked Antiope’s anger had added a level of increased difficulty to the task.
“Who told you?”

“WHY didn’t you tell me?!” Hearing the explanation had done nothing to soothe the girl’s nerves. All it had done was fan the the flames of her anger. How could Galena talk about her in such a nonchalant way? In a way that made it sound like it all wasn’t a big deal!
The senshi’s fists were balled up beneath her sleeves, trembling as the bottled up rage continued to well up inside of her.
She was standing on her tippy toes, trying to look more intimidating than her usual petite frame suggested. “I thought I meant something to you! You’re my student, my friend… my...” A sob caught in her throat. Her face was red like a passionate flame.
“...a-and you only see me as a thing... a toy, a trinket, a pet?! Is that how little you think of me?!”

Galena’s head tilted to the side ever so slightly, her face taking on an expression of pity that was plastic enough to straddle the line of insincere or flat out mocking. “I told you I was fond of you… who would make you think different?” She asked with a look of hurt that was ever so slightly off.
“I care about you, Antiope. Very deeply. That’s why I came here tonight. I want you to be on my team again, I want you by my side.”
She held out her hand as if in invitation.
“Please don’t let this anger motivate you to make bad choices. Please don’t say no. We could be happy.”

Antiope was dense. This was an established fact.
It took a lot of work to make things evident to even her clueless eyes.
Looking into Galena’s eyes, Antiope could even see how false this all had been. It felt as if her heart had been shattered. She took a step back, looking at the hand extended towards her.
“...no...” Suddenly her sleeved hand lashed out, slapping the offending hand away.
“He said it was a destiny written in the stars… but I refuse to believe that!” She barked out “I won’t ever join the Negaverse!” before bounding back into a defensive stance. Lifting both hands up, Antiope took a deep breath.
It would be the hardest fight she’d ever have to participate in. However, it was not for the reasons she was predicting.

When Antiope slapped her hand away, Galena pulled it back, close to her chest, and glanced down at it as if it had been slashed off. She seemed shocked, and after she took a moment to process the defiance, something in her eyes changed.
Galena always had a vaguely hateful look to her eye, malice hidden below painted layers of make-up and lace, soft voices and gentle touches. It was different now, unmitigated and bared for the world to see, as she glared at Antiope. But even with her ire drawn, she wasn’t going to let the senshi off the hook. When Galena claimed allies and loved ones, they remained claimed. She wasn’t going to lose people again, especially not Antiope.
The general was typically the shorter statured person in a pair, but not with Antiope. She had a slight size advantage, but that was nothing compared to rank. She was a general now, and when she marched forward with a swing of her hips, she easily hit away Antiope’s raised hands and wove her fingers through her scalp with more speed than the little basic senshi had at her disposal.
She dug her nails in to get a grip on her hair, and pulled her forward with a sharp jerk. Pulled her close.
“You are going to be on my side, Antiope. By night’s end you’ll be part of the Negaverse. It’s where I am, and I can’t leave,” She whispered in her ear, nearly purring whenever her voice caught enough volume to. “But I do truly love you, precious mantis, and I’m not liable to let you go.”
She let go of her hair by practically tossing her back, and she spoke in a more conversation volume as she fiddle with her glove, the end of which was not tucked beneath a lace lined bracer sewn into her uniform. “So I would advise you not to make it difficult. It will just hurt more.”

Deja vu was a terrible thing. Within a moment or two, Galena had shown that she was like the man with the black cloak, moving faster than her, and proving her strength with a simple flick of the wrist. Both of her wrists were throbbing after the General had snapped at them, but the stubborn Mantis senshi refused to openly acknowledge the pain. Any pained cries were hushed in her chest, even as she was yanked towards her former student.
“G-gal…” Galena’s words lingered in her ears, the whispers sending a tingle down the little senshi’s spine. Whether it was from fear, or if it was from a sort of longing to continue to be by this woman’s side, Antiope couldn’t tell. She wanted to lean in, put her cheek against Galena’s cheek, go back to how things had been. However, things could never go back to what they had been.
Before her body could betray her and give in to the desire, Galena threw her back like a doll she had gotten bored of.
Her voice trembled now “...how can you say you love me?! I can’t join you, I WON’T join you!” A tiny sniveling sound escaped the typically brash girl. “...you can’t hurt me more than you already have...”

“I can do whatever I want,” Galena answered simply, still fiddling with her glove and slowly pulling it by each individual finger. “I’m finally a general, you see. The pack of rabid dogs respects, if nothing else, rank and hierarchy. I’m finally at a safe place in the food chain, and you are below me. I can love you, even if you are prey to be had.”
She slid the glove off.
“I can also take what is mine, if I see fit. Now I apologize if this is a bit rough, dearest, I’ve never truly pulled a starseed before, but,” She took one hip swaying step forward to close the distance between them again, and forcefully shoved her bare hand through, into Antiope’s chest.
“I hear it’s quite the… experience.”
Her fingers found the solid mass of Antiope’s starseed, running along its surface and feeling the electric magic of the little senshi’s very soul.
“Yours is the first living starseed I’ve ever felt. Isn’t it poetic?” She laughed. A genuine, real laugh that was rarely heard from reserved Galena. “I can always hurt you more, Anti. Won’t you stop making me hurt you?”
Her free hand wrapped around the small of of Antiope’s back, tugging her close again, as Galena displayed her plasticy sad face again, stroking her fingers along Antiope’s figure. “I hate hurting you, darling.”

There was something about the look in Galena’s eyes that was unsettling. It was as if she had turned into a tiger, or perhaps even the snake which she had trained as. There was an insatiable hunger in those emerald green eyes, seeming to light up as she monologued about her new power and rank. Subconsciously, her hands had already drifted up, defensive claw stance ready for another attack.
A defensive stance that was rendered absolutely useless as Galena surpassed her guard. She forced her way through flesh, and though it was a shock to Antiope’s system, something still felt wrong about this. The girl’s knowledge of starseeds was still lacking after all this time as a senshi. The source of her life and her powers was a myth to her.
Her voice rasped to get the words out, eventually coming out in a rough, nearly parched tone. “W-what… what are you doing?!” Survival instincts seemed to start kicking in against her will as her sleeves hands drew up, scraping in a weak display, trying to get Galena to stop whatever it was she was doing.

“Nothing, yet,” Galena said in her typical voice meant to be coded to soothing or loving, a carefully crafted tone that was used when she was comforting Amphitrite after night terrors or seeking pity and reprieve from an officer she had befriended. Except at this moment it was turned on Antiope, as Galena held her with one arm and gently moved her fingers around inside of her chest. She rested her lips and nose on Antiope’s cheek for a moment, in a gesture that would have been tender if not for the fact she was painfully damaging the smaller senshi’s soul for no other reason that to slowly draw out her pain, a punitive result of defiance.
Her elbow and shoulder suddenly changed in angle, in how they related to the rest of her body, to show the sudden use of force and effort. Chaos began to flow through her, and push into the mantis senshi. Galena said a silent prayer to Metallia for strength, but in the end she knew it meant little. The end result would still be the same.
“I won’t let anyone take you away from me,” She said as if it was meant to be an assurance. “Not Iris or anyone else. Don’t worry, I’ve figured it all out, it’ll be over soon.”

Antiope’s body twitched as she could feel Galena moving around inside of her. If she had more wits to her at that moment, she would have felt violated. She would have turned to the lips resting upon her cheek and beg upon those lips to stop what was going on. She didn’t fear death, but this didn’t seem like it was death. She didn’t know why, but it felt like something much worse. The opportunity to beg was lost though as this student of hers struck out against her teacher. It would have been romantic if it was a classic kung fu movie. Bruce Lee would have risen against his teacher and defeated him in a fight. Perhaps that was what was going on here too, except that Antiope, unfortunately, was the teacher. As the dark energy crackled over her starseed, all the Mantis senshi could feel was pain upon every nerve ending. A burning pain that seared into her very soul. A shock that could bring the dead back to life, but it was unrelenting and vicious. A pain that even now, Antiope could not describe. And that pain was tearing her apart from the inside. Her eyes couldn’t even stay open, such a simple task suddenly becoming a great burden. The only thing she could do was shriek at the top of her lungs, helplessly frozen in place from the most terrifying pain. Her legs buckled beneath her, and her body began to fall back. If she landed, she wouldn’t have even known. It was a pain so intense that all other sensation was numb to her now. Everything felt weightless as she continued to scream through the night.

“Oh, hush, baby,” Galena crooned out in that special voice that probably lost every ounce of soothing quality it ever held.
One hand continued to gently pet the girl in her grip while the other forced through all of the Chaotic energy she had the capability to exert.
So many months agonizing over what to do. So many sleepless nights, puzzling. So many loved ones and lovely things with such deep flaws.
Freia was imperfect. Forgetful. Ditzy. Disobedient.
Amphitrite was better, but sad, lonely, prone to emotions.
Antiope of the future was obedient, lovely, soft. But killed. Easily taken away.
Imperfections, weaknesses. Corrupt senshi with their cracks, and holes, and amnesia. Antiope would be perfect, though. Galena had carefully designed her fate with every benefit towards the general in mind. This was her final project, where others had been prototypes. Antiope would be a masterpiece. Galena came here tonight intending to bring Antiope to her side, but no General-Sovereign had been summoned. She didn’t need one, for what she planned to do.
“It’s okay,”
Push.
“It’ll be over soon,”
Flooded.
“Darling.”
Crack.
Galena had never felt a more satisfying sensation, even as she weakened herself to inundate the little soul under her fingertips with all of the Chaos energy she could muster.
