There was another quest to be had. How this was managing to go on while everything else was made absolutely no sense to Ridon, but hey it got him out of the castle for a while and some fresh air. If you could call it fresh air. His quest this time, with his trusted pony, was to find a pair of pants. Pants.
Apparently they were incredibly important pants. Or something. Ridon really wasn't sure.
And so the quest began!

And as soon as he started the poor apprentice started to puke. It was gross, it was chunky and smelled of less pleasant things.
Needless to say, he turned around and went home to journey another day.

Once his stomach stopped rejecting everything including his own saliva, Ridon was able to head out again. Somehow, the food he'd taken the first time was already rancid when he got back to his pony. He had to acquire more food, that was already scarce and set out again.
New day, new trek, same gloomy scenery. Onward, for the glory of boots!

Bears. Mountain lions. Enraged goats. Of all the things Ridon was expecting on this journey, those weren't them. The craigy path was filled with menacing glares and snarls, and it was all he could do to keep his pony from plummiting with the food.
Then one of those goats decided to slam straight into him and fling him into the mountain. How rude was that!? He was just calmly journeying and suddenly. BAM. His face hit hard stone and he sort of laid there while his pony scared off the goat.
This was a wonderful start to his journey.

The forest was quiet. Well. No. Not really. The forest creaked and made terrible scuttling sounds and he swore he saw a giant wombat - whatever a giant wombat was was inconsequential. It only mattered that he say it and claimed it as such. It was all very scientific you see.
Or would have been until the same spider from last time dropped in to say hello.
Needless to say, he ran screaming through the forest, losing some of his food.

The journey was looking so good, he climbed to the summit and rejoiced! Wonderful, magical pants! To be honest it was a little excessive to have to go through all this just for a pair of pants (and not even greaves or a mail pants, but actual cotton britches). Yet he was so excited to be here, finally, that Ridon made a critical mistake.
He somehow, flung all his food for the trip home off the cliff. Apparently dropping the bag on the ground because you want to pick up the pants wasn't allowed and the bag disappeared.
Which didn't actually make any sense, as he trundled, despressed, back to Camelot. Why hadn't he taken the pants? How had he just left the pants there and not just taken them back with him and not have to deal with all this? He had to walk back anyway. With no food.
WHY COULDN'T HE HAVE TAKEN THE PANTS WITH HIM!?

What the heck was going on? Now snakes had come back. He was out of food, attacked by snakes. It was like they didn't want him to find these damn pants at all. But he couldn't stop until he found them. They wouldn't let him back in unless he had them in hand.
He trundled on home, closely followed by a very friendly snake he named Norby half way to Camelot.
