Despite how urgent preparation was, Riley found peace in the pauses for excursion they were allowed to take to find artifacts. After all, she could be alone again, which meant so many of her phobias were nonexistent. She was getting used to the feel of riding, even as her horse adjusted to the additional weight of her new armor. It wasn't much, just the chain mail and the leggings and mantle; but it kept Jericho from moving at full speed for quite a while as he got used to it. She gave him as much time as he needed, comfortable with taking their time.

The problem with bees was that they did not respect things like modesty and personal space. She had to remove her headgear just to get them out, and by the time she'd managed to remove the last one, Jericho had wandered off to get away from their painful stings. "The mighty horse, afraid of a few bee stings." She chided him, even though he was nowhere to be seen. "How embarrassing." Step One Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally ride into a bees nest. It was at least an hour before Jericho returned to her, under the impression that it was safe. She was without bees, so he was correct to do so - but she continued to walk by his side, patting his neck and whispering comforting words to her only companion. At some point, her words were enough to spur him on, and he whinnied as he trotted off to get some exercise nearby. The only problem with his choice of activity, was that he was carrying the food.. which meant that she would have to starve until he returned to her. And she was getting kind of hungry.. Jericho eventually returned. When he did, she decided this was as good a time as any to actually ride him. Mounting the horse took only a moment, which was just the right time as it turned out. She felt the rumble before she heard the roar, but both of them tipped her to the oncoming beast. She turned her head, and watched as the foliage burned and sizzled in the wake of what was coming for her. It had seen her, bright and gleaming without any camouflage, and now it was coming to pay its respects. The massive fiery beast was moving faster than should have been possible, but she snapped the reins and set Jericho moving anyway. Half of the food fell right off of the saddle as Jericho set off in a dead run, trying to get away from the heat that monster was giving off, even from afar. Step Three Quote: Rolling a 4: You hear a horrific roaring noise and when you look behind you you see a terrifying beast made of fire chasing you! In your horror you lose half the remaining caravan food. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 1.5 YOUR HP: 30

Reaching the final mountain was a bittersweet success. She dismounted Jericho and left him at the bottom of it, but when she began to climb, she realized she had no fuel left to move with, and hopped back down. She hadn't eaten in so long, and there was nothing left to fix that - she sat down beside Jericho's foot, and tried to gather some strength. In front of her, the strangest man appeared. He offers her exactly what she needs - just enough food to get up to the peak of the mountain, where her treasure awaited her. She wants to thank him, but all she can do is eat, and by the time she is done he has disappeared from view. What a strange man. Regardless of the odd encounter, it was time to complete her mission. She climbed up the peak and found her treasure, in the form of a tabard with a beautiful design upon it. The cloth was immediately placed over her head, until it fell flat on her chain mail. She was finally starting to look like a real knight. Even if she didn't yet feel like one. Step Four Quote: Rolling a 6: An old man claiming to be a wizard hands you some food.
