QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 21 YOUR HP: 30/30 It wasn't that Arrakis was unsatisfied with his tabard. He really wasn't. But... There were more things out there, he knew it, and there was a part of him that was not going to be satisfied until he had them. He had started, after all, so why stop now, right? After much deliberation, he decided that perhaps some pants would be a good addition. ...A person would be a good addition, too. Maybe he wouldn't have to try what felt like a hundred times to reach his goal. Two minds were better than one, right? ...The issue with that was finding someone. So, looking around a populated area, he found a redhead and decided, well, why not. He would do as well as any other, right? So Arrakis went up to him and tapped him on the shoulder, politely. "I don't suppose you're looking for an adventuring companion?"

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 21 + 24 = 45 YOUR HP: 30/30 "Hm, what?" Ignatius glanced over his shoulder with his mouth half-open, giving what was quite possibly the least charming greeting of all time. He clearly wasn't very good at this gallant knight thing. "Oh!" And then, he turned around more fully, glancing to the taller, fellow Knight of Percival. Not much taller, at least. Just ... taller. Would he want to go adventuring? It was kind of an amusing proposition, and in response to it, the spontaneous Ignatius shrugged with an, "Eh." Couldn't hurt. Wait until he actually goes on the quest..."Let's head out then! Well. After we get some food." So they'd do that first, of course.

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 21 + 24 = 45 YOUR HP: 30/30 Later, sitting on horseback and looking out over that rugged terrain, he reflected to himself that he was glad he'd thought to ask someone to come along. As much advantage as there was in only having to rely on yourself, there was definitely something to be said about not going it alone. Namely safety. Hoping they had enough food, he started his horse forward along the treacherous ground, remembering what had happened last time and being exceedingly careful.

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 45 - 2 = 43 YOUR HP: 30/30 Happily trotting about on horseback, Ignatius had to think that it was actually a fairly nice day out. He could feel the warmth of the daytime on his skin, and he was adventuring with someone who was admittedly not terrible on the eyes. It seemed like a win-win, even if it seemed the man in front of him was a little bit of a clumsy horseman--although not a horseman, just a man who rode a horse, oh by the Great King--and lost a bit of their food. What was done was done, he supposed. He couldn't help looking over the cliff, though, to see where the food had perhaps disappeared to, and careened a bit over the edge to see what he could see. That was when he felt it. Oh no. Ignatius keeled over, coughing and gagging to himself, before turning to Arrakis and offering a half-hearted, "Sorry." Sadly, adventuring was not to be for him. He and his horse ventured back home...

(food loss roll)
Of course, exceedingly was apparently not careful enough. His horse momentarily lost its footing on the path and Arrakis brought its head up sharply. He saved them both from tumbling to their deaths, but he did not save a bag that got knocked off and sent down out of reach. The air around him was positively sapphire with the string of epithets he let out in response.

(rolling actual dice now with actual numbers and things)QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 38 YOUR HP: 30/30 [Winding Forest] Arrakis was admittedly sad to see the other person go, wishing him a quick and safe trip back. Well... looked like he was doing this on his own after all, even though he... really hadn't wanted to. Hey, he'd done it on his own once though, right? He could do it again! This was certainly doable. Certainly, certainly doable. He did it once, he could do it again! So, steeling himself, he continued on into the forest. He was just as uneasy now as he had been the first few times, expecting something, anything, to come out at him and cause him to have to flee back where he'd come from. The spider was not appreciated. Not appreciated! He dropped the food he'd been holding as he urged his horse onwards as quickly as possible. Away from the spider!

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 33 YOUR HP: 30/30 [DWARVEN MOUNTAINS] He took his time leading the horse up the mountains. As much as he would have rather had company for this, he was having a hard time arguing with his comparative good luck. No illness for himself, yet. No catastrophic injury. Comparatively minor food loss. This was much, much, much better than the last time. Arrakis made a note to himself that if that redhead was still back at the starting point, that he'd treat him to something to hopefully make up for him getting sick. Arrakis knew it wasn't his fault, but he felt a bit bad about it anyway. He knew what it felt like to have to turn back earlier than desired because of illness and it definitely sucked. Arrakis wasn't sure what happened, really, but the next thing he knew he was on his back on the ground with only a few of his packs next to him, as the horse gave a defiant whinny and disappeared. ...Again?! Muttering unkind words under his breath, Arrakis dragged himself to his feet and picked up what remained of his bags. ...Alright, so he'd been too soon in celebrating his luck, but he would at least keep going. This was still much better than the last times.

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 0/30 YOUR HP: 30/30 There he was! There it was! Alright, he'd made it much better shape than last time! Arrakis couldn't help a small whoop as he moved for the leggings he saw there.Yeah! And he hadn't had to get violently ill this time! He'd have to walk all the way back without a horse, but he could do that! ... What he apparently couldn't do was actually maintain hold on his bags of food. ... Again. Staring in horror as they slipped out of his grasp and tumbled out of reach forever, Arrakis could only think one thing before turning and starting resignedly back from whence he'd come. At least he'd made it this far.----------------- Total Wordcount for Arrakis: 754 words

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 21 YOUR HP: 30/30 If there was one thing Ignatius hated, it was losing. Losing was for losers, of which he was not one; that much was certain. It seemed, however, sickness had defeated him on his quest! How dare the sickness defeat him. When he felt better, he was determined to try again, and searched out that same tall lanky guy that had invited him the first time. Yeah, the guy with the long braid. That one."You. Me. Quest." It was an almost demanding proposition, and Ignatius did not exactly expect the other man to reject it. In fact, Ignatius had already gathered his food rations. He was going to win, dammit.

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 48 YOUR HP: 30/30 He, him, what, when? Ignatius was not the only one who hated losing, of course. It quite upset Arrakis' pride to get all that way... only to drop everything and have to turn back. The king was never going to get everything back at this rate. It had been with a heavy heart that he returned to where he'd come and spent the next several days debating how to reapproach the situation. Well, at least the other was feeling much better, even if he was also feeling more demanding. Arrakis took the demanding tone in stride, raising an eyebrow but not commenting on it directly himself. He would still like to have a companion for the travel to the mountain summit, so he wasn't exactly complaining. Especially since he already had his rations, which was incredibly convenient of him. Arrakis also had rations gathered, and he nodded in agreement. "Alright, after you."

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 48 YOUR HP: 30/30 "QUEST!" And they were off. Ignatius was quite eager to definitely conquer the quest this time and not lose to mysterious horrific diseases clearly caused by their enemies. He would show the sickness who was boss around there! Ignatius could have sworn he saw his own horse roll his eyes at him. "Hey! I saw that!" He probably didn't, but he was scolding his horse anyway ... which caused him to drop some food, of course.

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 42 YOUR HP: 30/30 Arrakis couldn't really get angry at Ignatius for losing food off the side of the cliff. Not when he, himself, had done that more than once. It was something that just... tended to happen, apparently. He just had to be very careful not to do so himself! ... ... Oh come on of all the damnable luck...

QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 42-6 ->36 YOUR HP: 30/30 ...Well. He had hardly been about to say anything to the other person about his losing food off the mountain, but now Arrakis could especially not say anything. Again. Every time. He was going to start strapping the bags to himself. ...Maybe not. With his luck, he'd fall off the cliff, too. Well, it wasn't all their food, at least. Giving a resigned sigh and a wry smile, he ventured, "...well, it could be worse."
