The gauntlets had been of very good quality, and once Barth had rested from the last bit of running about, he had inquired if Zar was willing to give it another go.
He had spent some time with Handsome in the stable. That, he didn't mind so much, and he stood a long while brushing out Handsome's coat. He thought on his situation and tried to remember something. Anything.
He supposed it didn't do any good dwelling on it. He'd have to deal with the hand he'd been given.

Zar was perhaps a little less happy about his reward from their last adventure, there was simply no dignified way to wear them, and for whatever reason they didn't seem to want to play nicely with his armour. He didn't feel they were an armour upgrade over sheet steel, but he was assured they were worth it. So as he rode out to meet Barth it was with more of a breeze across his pale thighs than he was actually used to.
"Does this look too silly? Be honest." he said, looking grim.

"Hmm? Did you- oh. Oh. No, they're...ah, quite-" Barth swallowed. "Are you allowed to-?" He looked around as if someone would pop out and drag Zar to a nunnery at any second.
Barth, in the mean time, was turning a lot of funny colors.

Zar sat up a little stiffer in his saddle. "I don't know if I'm allowed to." he said, before sticking his nose haughtily in the air. "But I don't care, I tried them with my armour and skirts and all sorts of things, they just aren't comfortable unless they are on their own."
He smirked a little toothily. "I don't see any badgers trying to take me out, do you?" But his expression quickly dropped when Barth's horse stumbled, cantering to his side. "Oh no! Not the food!" he frowned down at the fallen items grimly.

The ground shifted under the horse's hooves and Zar let out a yelp, rearing back with his own losses.

"Let's...press on," Barth hedged, stifling the urge to wrap his tunic around Zar's waist. Or make sure- his thighs were just so- pale, and unmarked- and there was very little left to the imagination, if...if anything whatsoever, and-
When they finally settled in the shade of the forest, a very hairy and eight-legged surprise kept them from even taking the first bite. Barth left quickly, just letting it go to the spiders.
He wasn't sure how spiders felt about bread and hard cheeses, but like with that perpetually-on-fire creature, he didn't stop to ask.

Galloping along after Barth, Zar didn't look back at the spider, his mouth set in a thin line. He wasn't much of a fan of the things, too many legs and not enough manners. But when they slowed, Zar once again felt the old pang of queasiness, steadying himself on the saddle. "I just don't know what's wrong with me." He wavered. "I'm going to go back, I just don't feel great. Go on ahead." He found himself reaching out to touch Barth's hand before he could stop himself. "Take care of yourself. I'll be back when I can be." Zar felt ill again. It was fairly regular. He hoped he wasn't getting a chill off of his...armor.
He was, himself, fairly hungry.
But mostly still thinking about Zar's armor. Even after he had left. So much so that he walked right into that same damn arrow trap again.

When it came to the eagles, Barth was honestly at his wit's end. "Do you mind?" he asked, cowering lower in the mountain, behind a rock until the whole protective bird thing blew over.

While he waited, the food tumbled right into a crevasse.
Barth crept back down the mountain, thinking maybe today wasn't the day for this.

Zar still looked a little bit pale and shaky. "Better." he said. "I just don't know what is wrong with me lately, I mean. Maybe I always had a weak constitution?" He couldn't remember, but he wasn't very sure that was the care. "I want to try again regardless."
