As important as it was to defend the castle from impending doom, Jake found himself needing a little escape from all the hustle and bustle. Though mostly, it was because that failed quest was haunting him. He was going to find those mystical magical pants, or whatever they were, and be done with. Yes, this was just a matter of conscience, nothing else.
Still, one had to wonder. What WAS the cause of all that? And... why now? He supposed it was inevitable, but all of this just gave him a bad feeling. And... Great Knight Percival. It made him wonder what the Great King was up to, as well as the great knight he had to chose to serve under. Merlin... what kind of man was he? Jake just hoped all of this would be settled soon, but... things never went the way they were supposed to. Did they ever?QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 35/35 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 1 - The Trek Forwards ]
All his worrying almost made him forget the most important thing to bring (aside from his horse), but speaking of his horse, Jake had several things to say to that creature.
Jake made a lot of meaningless eye contact with his horse, seeming to say "if you dare abandon me again you will regret it", and "how could you I thought we had something meaningful" and "you back-stabbing horse I should replace you". His horse, of course, had no idea what the heck he meant and just stared back. Because he is a horse. "Well, Chester," he huffed. "Let's make this a quick and painless trip, ok?"
Of course, it'd help if he himself was paying attention, as he nearly rode himself off a cliff. He blamed the horse.Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost. [ Step 2 - The Winding Forest ]
Ah well. He made sure to bring extra food just in case something like this happened. Because he was always prepared. SUPER prepared. And as a reward, he even found food on the road! Though... he wasn't sure if he should be touching that. Still, free food was free food, and he might as well taken it just in case.Quote: Rolling a 2: Someone seems to have left food on the road for you! How nice! +10 food. [ Step 3 - The Dwarven Mountains ]
He wasn't sure why, but this place always gave him the creeps. Perhaps it was the fact that he nearly died here once, and the skeletons plus weird sounds echoing in the distance also played a part in it. Well, he couldn't keep dwelling on it. He had to press on.
Perhaps he should have been paying attention, because the sound grew louder and louder, until there was some sort of horrific roaring noise that sounded like it was right... behind...
Jake turned around to see some giant horrific flaming beast chasing them. He had wondered why Chester picked up speed. "HOLY HELL." He might have chucked a bag of his food at the beast, only to see it go up in flames. Excellent choice, wasting food. At least it seemed to buy him some time.Quote: Rolling a 4: You hear a horrific roaring noise and when you look behind you you see a terrifying beast made of fire chasing you! In your horror you lose half the remaining caravan food. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 17.5/35 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 4 - The Mountain Summit ]
Finally managing to outrun the creature, both Jake and his horse were panting as they tried to catch their breath. "Thanks for not abandoning me like last time." His horse neighed, and he smiled, petting the horse.
Their break was short-lived as Jake was suddenly attacked by giant eagles again. "OW OH GOD WHERE DO THESE THINGS COME FROM." Thankfully his horse came to his rescue because Jake was absolutely useless. This ordeal only made him hate animals more, but horses a bit less. Chester was a special horse. Chester was different. Ok, let's just get these pants and get out of here."
