It was a beautiful day again (it wasn't) and Thomas had grabbed himself a sack full of tasty, delightful treats (the food was bland, the bread hard and stale, the apples mostly bruised, the cheese over ripe. Hard times were hard) and he had his trusty steed, Beehive, all saddled up and ready to go (this horse was probably going to bolt on him. He was probably totally due for a bolting). Now, just so long as Thomas didn't start out the day with an unhealthy dose of dysentery, everything would be coming along just swimmingly! He launched himself up onto his horse, secured his belongings, checked his crossbow, and was on his way in no time, though he sort of wished he had found somebody to come with him, as going out on his own seemed sort of like a really terrible idea, come to think of it more. Oh well. Once he was well on his way, he began to whistle a merry tune, and did his very best to ignore the darkness that seemed to press in from every side. Everything was going along as well as he could have hoped. So far there were no bees, no sudden illness, and nothing else that could halt him in his quest to retrieve the precious artifact he had been sent to bring back. And, since he wasn't feeling particularily rushed, he decided that he might as well dismount for a little while, to give Beehive a much deserved break. The horse was allowed to graze, while Tommy had a wander around. At some point during his wandering, he looked up at the darkened sky and frowned, suddenly losing himself in thoughts that were a bit bleak. Unfortunately, as he was lost in these thoughts, he did not see the cliff edge that he was approaching, and one of his feet slipped, nearly spilling him over it's edge. Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost. While he clung to the edge of the cliffside, feet dangling over the vast and empty space below him, he wondered if this was it, if he was going to die, now. Right at that very moment, however, Beehive came to the rescue, lowering his face down enough for Tommy to reach up with one shaking hand and grab for the dangling reins. He was but a pull away from being drug back up onto solid ground! During this incredibly miracle, some food rolled out of the bag and off of the cliff, but Tommy was really not in any position to notice or pay it any mind. Back on the trail and through the forest, Thomas was still praising Beehive's good deeds, attempting to feed the horse an apple and a carrot or two as they went, when, quite suddenly, a giant spider dropped down in front of him. Beehive reared back and winnied, and Thomas promptly dropped the proferred food and veg onto the ground, before the horse came down and stomped upon them both, treading it into the dirt. The spider itself scurried off without attempting to harm them, but Thomas's heart continued to race inside of his chest, regardless. Quote: Rolling a 1: A giant spider scares you so much you drop whatever it is you're eating! -5 Food QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 22 YOUR HP: 30/30

Inside the mountain, and again, Thomas had not learned a darn thing. Snakes. So many snakes. They chased him all the way through those tunnels and into the beyond. Much like before, he let poor Beehive dart out ahead, and hoped that the trusty steed would be waiting for him at the end. Thomas's poor ankles had so many fang marks on them by now. So very many. It hurt so much to run. Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally step on a booby trap as snakes start chasing you! Why did it have to be snakes... -10 damage QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 22 YOUR HP: 20/30

Out of the mountain and up the hill. Up, up, up, up, up! By the time he reached the top, he collapsed on the ground, barely able to breathe. Beehive decided to canter on over and join him, bending his head down to nuzzle and Thomas's neck. Who needed a love of their life when they could have this amazing horse instead? Eventually, he got to his feet, and retrieved the Greater Gauntlets of the Wolverine. Quote: Rolling a 5: Somehow, you made it safely. Somehow. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 22 YOUR HP: 20/30
