It was a little awkward heading to the stables the next morning. Daisy was just... well... she was right there in the first stall eying him fairly hopefully, and Mmur was passing her by as nonchalantly as possible, eyes glued to some point in the air as far beyond his former horse as he could look. It was obvious that he had been seeing other mounts; his new helmet broadcast his infidelity like an out of control bonfire.
Mmur proceeded to Franks's stall, holding one hand to the horse's lips and the other to his own as he set the animal free. He lowered it slightly, mouthing,

"...and she kept leaving me, you know? I'll never find the king without a reliable mount, and I couldn't rely on her."
Mmur crossed his arms, his lips puckered in an unconscious pout. He had really wanted the whole knight/steed thing to work out with Daisy. He had even named her after his favorite...
He paused, his mind going so completely blank that for a moment he forgot his own name. Favorite. Favorite what? Daisies weren't his favorite flowers, not by a long shot. So dinky. And they smelled funny too.
The apprentice probably would have remained that way indefinitely, staring off into space in all-encompassing confusion, had it not been for Franks. The ferociously rabid badger helped bring him back to the present as well.Quote: Rolling a 2: You encounter a wild *animal here* that is extremely rabid and ferocious. Mmur launched himself onto the horse's back and barreled away from the badger and into the trees, no longer caring that he had a favorite thing he couldn't remember. He also had a connection with Franks that defied explanation and an aptitude for riding that he wouldn't have expected, but he was hardly dwelling on those things right now, was he?
They slowed to a trot once the badger had faded from memory. A deserted camp lay ahead, and Mmur hopped from his saddle to check it out once they grew closer.
"Look here, Franks," he said, pulling a packed satchel out of an abandoned tent. "We'll eat like the Great King for weeks!" Never mind that they wouldn't be outside Camelot for weeks if all went well or that the king wouldn't be caught dead eating rations from a satchel. Franks whickered happily once he was loaded up, and the pair moved on through the forest with ease.Quote: Rolling a 2: Someone seems to have left food on the road for you! How nice! +10 food. The labyrinth through the mountain was as ominous as ever, mostly, Mmur thought, because of the skeletons. They were... lovely in their way—though he didn't share this sentiment with Franks—but they threatened visitors with death when all he had ever found here were a couple of cases of the shits. Oh. There had been that giant fire monster too. Hm.
He eventually moved to tidy up a little, but he had barely lifted one of the corpses before he found another bundle of supplies.Quote: Rolling a 6: You find a small supply crate from the last group of knights who tried to attempt this! +10 food QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 38/18 YOUR HP: 20/30

[ step four ]
It was odd, finding all of this food when they were reportedly supposed to be fighting for their lives. Mmur emerged from almost the same cavern that he had the last time he had been up here, but instead of a helmet, the first thing the apprentice saw was a brightly colored pile of thick fabric at the base of a sandy rock.
His first reaction, upon realizing they were pants, might have been a scowl. It was true that they were utterly gorgeous—waves of yellow, green, orange, red, and black cresting over their length—but he didn't much like binding clothing, or... any clothing at all, really. Fortunately, once he gave them a try, the leggings, much like his helm, were a perfect fit.
"LOOK, FRANKS!"
Mmur spun slowly once he had the horse's attention. Franks looked slightly disturbed.
"What's wrong?"
Franks looked around the area rather pointedly.
"Oh. Yes, right. We should be stealthier." He looked down at his new pants. It was probably a bit late for that. "Should we just go?"
The horse tossed his mane, sidling up to his rider with a snort. Mmur touched Franks's neck once he was seated comfortably. "So. You didn't say. Do they look good?"Quote: Rolling a 5: Somehow, you made it safely. Somehow. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 38/18 YOUR HP: 20/30
