Kenta, having seen that there really was no food, decided (since the siege was just about to get underway) that he should... venture out and find more food... to help with the siege of course! And gather up items for the Great Knights. Since apparently they needed more gear. Which, he thought as he slipped out of the castle by climbing over the walls under the cover of darkness, made sense since there were so many new apprentices!

STEP 1

QUEST STATUS

Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost

Kenta, too preoccupied on dodging hte enemy and sneaking through the woods.. did not see the cliff suddenly appear to his right.. to be fair it was on his blind side and it was dark.. but he still almost fell to his death!

Clinging to the edge, he felt some of the precious (and really disgusting tasting) food fall away as he clambered back to the cliff. That, he thought with disgust; was stupid of me.

STEP 2

Kenta, confused and a little lost in this maze like forest, wondered if there were.. things lurking about. He had heard in the castle whispers of elves... were elves that dangerous? He did not know.. but he didn't like the sounds of them! A pity I have no knowledge of events in my past.. if I had met elves I would at least know how to deal with them! He thought with frustration.

All around him loomed tall trees, some with webbing some scarred as if by blades, others covered in moss. It was dark here.. dark and humid. Silent except for his foot steps and the far off cries of some creature. The webs worried him; they were far bigger than any he'd sen.... of course considering he could only recall his past that had occurred since swearing himself, this was not too impressive! But even then, they filled him with foreboding... So he stayed to the path and did not try to go hunting. Though he wished he'd killed his horse for the extra food when it suddenly spooked and fled! Pity that...

But he did not let that deter him! Forward, through the dark forests and upwards to the mountains he traveled!

STEP 3

QUEST STATUS

Rolling a 1: You accidentally step on a loaded booby trap! Arrows rain down on you, and you take -20 damage!
Food remaining: 12
YOUR HP: 30 -20 = 10

Through a small opening, more a collapsed side door than any real opening, he slid into the old dwarven halls. Crawling over fallen rocks, trying not to breath in the gathered dust and webs, he stumbled through the dark tunnels. Eventually he managed to find some old wood.. enough to make a torch! Happy now that he had light, he strode along, too fast to realize he was walking into a trap.. The click beneath his boot made him swear as he threw himself to one side.. hoping to dodge whatever he’d just triggered. He managed to dodge most of the arrows… but many pierced his left leg and arm. Now I’ll have scars there to match the right side! He wryly thought as he cursed and paused to bandage his wounds. No enemies had he encountered and yet he’d still almost died twice!

QUEST STATUS

Rolling a 5: Somehow, you made it safely. Somehow.

YOUR HP: 10

Limping and muttering foul curses upon paranoid dwarves and their stupid traps, Kenta climbed ever upwards, up towards the very peak of the mountain. This, he thought sourly, had better be worth tis wound! Otherwise I will be laughed at and mocked for getting wounded on the eve of a siege and not bringing anything back! Wonder if I can manage to hunt some food up if there’s nothing up here….

The tunnels were a little too short for him… so he crouched and growled more disparaging remarks upon those who could not be bothered to make taller tunnels; his halberd was useless here! Good thing nothing’s noticed me or this place is empty!

Finally he staggered out into the light to see a small chest just.. sitting there. In the open.. where anyone could open it. He checked for traps; none that he could see…

It’s been so quiet, there’s nothing here! He thought, why did the Great Knights not just take the time to wander through cramped corridors to pick this item up? For within the chest (untrapped, for which he praised the spirits and Gods) was a lovely silver set of gleaming shoulder guards… embossed with black and emblazed with citrine gems. Fits me perfectly, he thought smugly.
