Ridon was not what you'd call... courageous. He was certainly kind and generous, but courage was not something he had. That was just the way it had always been. Perhaps that is why he'd flocked to Mordred, who proposed helping others over glory in battle.
Sometimes though, that glory meant he had to go out into the world and find something. This was one such task. He'd been tasked with finding a set of [ Greater Gauntlet of the Wolf ], though what this actually meant (and why it was written in these odd sort of barricades on the sides) was beyond Ridon.
He was given a nice chestnut pony, a slap on the shoulder with a "Don't die" and sent on his way.
Oh dear.

The pony wasn't much use in this portion of the trek. The ground was too rocky, too prone with things to get in the pony's shoes. Ridon lead the horse on foot for most of it. Moreover, it was slow going. It seemed the forest in the distance was forever hours away, and never got any closer.
The pony didn't seem to mind, happily plodding along. Beyond the craggy ground, the road was almost peaceful. In fact, it was so peaceful, he started paying more attention to the clouds in the sky than the ground beneath him.

Both pony and knight apprentice took a tumble as portion of the road gave way. Somewhere between leaving Camelot and staring up at the pretty patterns in the clouds, they'd stumbled onto a rather narrow and unstable mountain cliff path.
How do you even not notice that!?
As pony and knight apprentice righted themselves, Ridon watched a chunk of their food tumble into the abyss that was the cliff face, never to return and probably to be eaten by wolves.
How lovely.

On one hand, the forest was shady and a nice change of pace from the craigy mountains. In fact, Ridon could even ride the pony this time, instead of just leading it around. The forest was incredibly confusing (something that made him regret not asking for a map) and he did not like the prospect of angry, bow happy elves. At least it was shaded and free of broken ground.
On the other hand, there were spiders. So. Many. Spiders. At first, he'd been fine. The pony hated it, but they were tiny and easily avoided. Or stepped on. Then, then they became larger until pony sized spiders walked next to him. This was, in comparison, also fine. They weren't attacking him. In fact, they almost seemed friendly. No, it wasn't those spiders that did him in. Oh no.
"MY NAME IS AGGRAA--" the giant, house sized spider that dropped in front of pony and knight apprentice did not get to finish his statement, whatever it was. Perhaps he was going to help them on their quest, or tell them not to go through the mountain path. Perhaps he would take them into the trees and give them a short cut. Ridon and the pony would never know.
Ridon screamed like a babe, dropped the loaf of bread he was munching on, and forced his pony into a gallop that would have rivaled a wild breed mustang for speed. The poor spider was left poking two of it's limbs together in sadness and wondering why everyone ran away from them.

Ridon was really starting to wonder why'd he been given a pony in the first place. He seemed to be leading it more than riding it. Was it just to carry his food, or did the Great-Knights think somehow Ridon would get lonely and scared without a companion? If that was the case (which, in all honesty, was completely, as the cool kids say, legit) they should have sent him with other knight apprentices, not a pony. Not that he didn't like the company of the pony but still!
Something moved under his foot, and a loud corus of hissing came up behind him. Oh no, oh noohnoohnoohnoohnoohnooooooooo.
Needless to say, there was much running involved for the rest of their stay in the mountains.

Knight apprentice collapsed onto the summit, panting. Pony trotted calmly beside him, interested at this new location. He even pushed over a set of gauntlets that Ridon was supposed to find! He'd done it! Wonderful!
Apparently there were still snakes on him because unexplainablely giant eagles swooped down to try to eat him.
What was wrong with this country!?
Ridon made it out alive, somehow, and brought the wolf head inscribed gauntlets back to Camelot. He was gifted with a set almost identical to the ones he had brought, except with his name etched into the inside.
Alright then.
