Truthfully, he should have thanked Sherry for dragging his half-dead bleeding self back and dressing his wounds, but, well, he was kinda almost dead at the moment. It sucked that he didn't have anything to show for that waste of a journey besides some new scars, and even worse, Sherry had managed to complete her quest, her only screwup(s) being wasting some measly food over trivial matters. He might have ridiculed her over it, but that was only because she grated on his nerves.

Luckily, it seemed she wasn't around to bother him, and he could assume his errand in peace. This time though, no pants.
... No fancy pants for the king. The king could live without them. He himself was totally wearing pants. And fully clothed. And had his horse and food. NOTHING COULD GO WRONG THIS TIME.

[ Step 1 - The Trek Forward ]

He brought a little less food this time, but that was fine. He didn't need much to start with, and he certainly didn't have to share it... except maybe with his horse. Jake pat Chester as they made their way out of Camelot. Yup, no chatty dames on this quest, just a guy and his horse. And a mountain. He could totally do this.
It was too bad he wasn't paying attention, because this was nearly a repeat of what had happened to Sherry. His horse stumbled, causing Jake to lurch to a side and nearly fall off.

[ Step 1.5 - The Trek Forward ]

His bag shifted, and because he was dumb and didn't tie it properly, some food fell out.
Jake stared as it fell. Crap.

[ Step 2 - The Winding Forest ]

Ok, so, he lost some food, and nearly fell off a cliff. All in a day's adventure. At least he didn't encounter any ferocious beasts. He was determined to make it back to Camelot in tact, WITH trophy in hand.
Upon reaching the forest, Jake made sure to pay attention to his surroundings. No giant spider was getting the better of him this time!

... perhaps he spoke too soon.
There was no giant spider, but something seemed to have spooked Chester, and the horse neighed, reared up on his hind legs, tossing Jake off, and ran.
"CHESTER GET BACK HERE YOU UNGRATEFUL BEAST."
It was futile. That horse was long gone.

[ Step 3 - The Dwarven Mountains ]

Ugh, fine, FINE. He didn't need that dumb animal anyways. He could do this on his own. Jake grumbled miserably as he continued his trek into the mountain labyrinth. He just needed to remember about that booby trap, and he'd be fine.

There was the sound of a horse neighing, and Jake instantly perked up. His horse had came back! Oh Chester you beautiful creature you came-
... there was nothing there. That damn horse was making fun of him.
Jake kinda felt depressed.

[ Step 4 - The Mountain Summit ]

While Jake was feeling a bit bummed from being deserted by that treacherous horse, he had, at least, finally reached the summit of the mountain. Now he could just finish this quest, go home, and get a new damn horse that wouldn't ABANDON him.
... who was he kidding Chester you're the only horse for him. Come back Chester. :C

As if moping wasn't enough, he was suddenly attacked by giant eagles. Where the hell did these giant eagles even COME from?
"OH MY GOD LEAVE ME ALONE."
And this was why Jake hated animals.

After much flailing and cursing and sword-swinging, the birds finally left him alone, leaving Jake panting as he lay on the ground covered in feathers. This quest was stupid. His horse was stupid. Birds were stupid. GIRLS were stupid he hated everything.

He may have laid on the floor a while longer before finally getting up, retrieving what he had come here to do.
"Greater gauntlet of the Raven" he mumbled.
BIRDS
