Well, while the Great Knight's information had been entirely wrong; the King had been nowhere to be found, she couldn't say that he had sent her on a wild goose's chase. Not exactly.
At least she had gotten a gauntlet out of it, she thought, examining the bangle upon her wrist that had her name carved into it.
A snort came from the silver dappled horse beside her, and she patted her mount absent-mindedly. "Yeah, I know. He's still a right old cur." She huffed. "At least not all Great Knights are like him." The Gold Knight had been polite to them at the very least.
She hadn't met Merlin quite yet, but by the Gods, she hoped that the Knight she had chosen to follow wasn't a proper halfwit like Gawain was.

Sammy shot through the castle in a fit of anger. The blue cloaked figure darting between other new Apprentices as she made her way to the courtyards. Her right hand wound up tight around the hilt of her weapon. The single desire to hit things driving her forward.
She was muttering under her breath as well, a string of complaints at the Red Knight and what a piece of rubbish he was. When she finally made it outside she almost passed Marz. The only thing that stopped her was the training dummy a few feet away as the other knight spoke aloud.
"Right old cur? I hope your talking about that dickish pig the red knight." Her sword was loosened with a shake as she snapped it out cracking the training dummy leaving a thick gash in it's cut. "Earn your place at the table. We gave up our very selves and he has the right to judge us like that." Her sword crossed back again, "Bitches and whores... I swore to protect but for him I'll make an exception..." The sword crossed back again getting lodged in the dummy causing the girl to snarl. "Dammit dammit it all..." Why was she so angry? What was making her feel this way?
She certainly wasn't referring to the presence of another knight; there were hordes of them all about the castle, but the fact that someone else had encountered a Great Knight that did not seem to hold the new recruits in high regard. "Green." She replied, keeping a hand on Radek's neck to calm him in case he was spooked by the other's outburst. "Gawain is his name."
"Two against one, for now I guess." She mused. "I wasn't expecting them to be nice, but to be civil, at the very least. They are Great Knights, for God's sake." Frankly, it was quite disappointing.

"Morgan," she said practically spitting the name as she yanked her sword free of the training doll. "Red in that case." Her anger was mostly spent, her weapon dropping lower to cut a line in the dirt as it dropped to her side. "I don't think many took kindly to his words. Though I don't think you'll see a great uprising against him."
Finally she sheathed her weapon turning to the other knight offering a hand, "Samantha, I'm sorry if I startled your horse. I just had to get that out. Something about the way he treated us stuck a cord with me."
"I'm glad I didn't pick him then." Marzena scoffed. And yet there was truth in the other knight's words. They could sit here and talk about their attitude, but ultimately it wasn't as though they could do anything. Infighting would do them no good at this point. "He is a Great Knight for a reason. Though I suppose their code of chivalry doesn't include having a noble attitude."
She eyed Samantha's hand for a moment before grasping it firmly. "Marzena. And it's fine. Lord knows I've confided in him about Gawain in extremely harsh words."

"I swore to the blue, Percival I can't say I've met him. I might not carry a shield, but I believe there is good in slaying the darkness before it can make its damage known." The girl snorted a bit, "I'd agree, some seem far more full of it then others."
There was hesitation in the hand shake but the moment their hands met Sammy grasped tight. "A pleasure Marzena, I might have had my own choice words for Morgan as well. It's good to know other Apprentices won't stand to be talked down on."
"I'm with Merlin, the Black Knight. Haven't met him or Percival yet either. The Gold Knight... Galahad, I think? Was nice. Polite. But then again, lots of people would be when standing next to Sir Gawain of the bird beard." Marzena still did not quite understand why a tiny creature would find solace in nesting in a beard of someone so impatient.
Sigh.
"They might be Great Knights, but we can't just blindly follow them. Gawain was being testy just because we accidentally overheard him talking about something he didn't want to get out. And get this, he wasn't even whispering. He was practically yelling it to the whole wide world to hear and then gets pissed and insults us when he realizes that, surprise! There are knights all around you, you dimwitted cur."
Evidently just ranting to her horse hadn't been quite enough.

"Merlin huh? I'd say I'd heard of them but I can't recall. Though I guess it's good to hear some of the knights are polite. One was sleeping at the tablet, and Morgan was...." She waved a hand, they had gone over that.
"Wait... why are you calling him bird beard?" What did a bird beard look like even? More importantly, "What was he talking about? That you overheard that made him so upset?"
"He has a long stupid beard that looks like he fell through a tree and refused to clean it out. Branches, flowers, leaves and a small bird's nest. I have no idea how he lives with it." Something that unruly hanging from one's face was a distressing thought to her. Or perhaps it was because of it that he was so snippy? Hah, she wouldn't be surprised.
"He said," She lowered her voice, "that the Great King is missing." And certainly nowhere to be found, even though she had followed his stupid map.

The mental image of a beard so full of... stuff couldn't really click for her. She stood there staring into space curiously wondering about it. "That... seems interesting. I don't even know really." She grew quiet moving in though as the girl spoke about what he was so upset about.
"Missing?" Sammy's own voice dropped, "Come to think of it Morgan was shouting at us how it felt to sit at a table and eat while the king didn't grace us with his presence, I assumed he was busy with the other knights?" There was a deep frown on her face. "Is it true?"
"It is true. Gawain gave us a map to to a place he thought the King had gone to, but all I found was this." She lifted her arm to show the gauntlet upon her wrist.
"Maybe it's because of their attitude that he decided to leave on his secret mission he could only trust himself with." She deadpanned.

She tilted her head looking closer at the gauntlet, her own armor was far more shabby then what she was waring on her wrists alone. "... still not a bad break to get something nice like that."
She started to look around, the notice of other knights rushing by causing her alarm. "Maybe because he can't trust them?" She shrugged as a rumble rolled across the court yard. The frown on her face grew. "You should get your gear ready... I think something is coming..." She turned suddenly moving back towards the walls wondering what that noise was...
"I suppose." Marzena was about to suggest that she could give Samantha directions towards the very mountain she had found the armor, but she too was distracted by the commotion around them.
"This isn't good." She said, a feeling of unease settling in her stomach as Radek stomped at the ground. The air around them felt cold and stifling and this certainly did not bode well.
