......If that bar was a pantry, and the guys were two knight-apprentices, maybe. There was no punchline. Horace had spent the first day in relative solitude, making maps of the corridors of the castle, listening in to other's conversations - things were he could learn. This was, of course, how he'd learned about the harrowing quests they could take on as a part of their training, And, rather than thrust himself into some social situation he'd undoubtedly screw up (and how did he know he'd screw up...), Horace had decided to go provision himself and set out alone. He had not expected someone else to have the same idea. He blinked. "Ah, hello. Since..." He shifted his bag of food about. "Since it appears like you might be setting out on a quest as well, would you like to go together? I'm Horace." He grinned and outstretched his hand. This wasn't so hard after all. Thomas had also spent his first day in near solitude, though that was not to say he did not smile, wave or make idle chit chat with many of those he came across. He was a friendly, sociable sort, but even with these traits, he knew that socializing came second, while his knight training came first. And so, with knowledge that they were to partake in quests of dire importance, he was eager to get started. Having somebody come across him while he was stocking up on food, especially somebody who then offered to quest with him, only served to make things more exciting, and Thomas's face broke out into a wide grin as he nodded his head, dark hair falling in front of his eyes before he reached up to brush it away. "Ah yes! Of course, that sounds like a great plan! I am Thomas." He took the other man's hand, who was a complete stranger to him, and gave it a firm shake, clasping a his second hand over Horace's wrist as he did so. "I would only be glad to accompany you." Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally ride into a bees nest. BEEEEES. Your horse runs away, making it extremely hard on you. Every turn you take, you must subtract 5 food from the caravan. Horace chatted easily with Tommy as they rode, finding the young man sociable and intelligent. They had discovered, oddly enough, a shared love of epic tales of love. "And then, which is highly unrealistic, she simply lands b-...b-... BEES." A bee's hive hung from a tree over Horace and they swooped down in full force, their be-stingered butts aiming for the hapless young man. Shoebox reared, eyes rolling back in his head, He threw Horace and cantered back to Camelot, trailing angry bees. After several moments of silence, Horace clambered to his feet and cracked his neck loudly. "Ow." QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 / 44 YOUR HP: 30/30

Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost. Thomas saddled up his horse. It was, ironically, named Beehive, but he did not know that this was to be ironic yet. He let out a gasp, "She landed on his bul---" He began to say, until he realizing that Horace was under attack by bee's. Thomas's horse reared up, startled by all of the noise and panic that followed, and began to move slowly backwards as he attempted to soothe it, leaning forward to pat it on the neck and talk quietly too it. Still it backed up, until one hoof slipped at the edge of a steep precipice. Letting out a startled sound as he was jolted nearly from his saddle in the horses than sudden panic to get back on solid ground, several food items were loosed from his bag, falling over the cliffs edge. Wide eyed, Thomas let out a small laugh as he was soon righted again, shifting himself in his saddle. "Bad luck!" He smiled, "But at least the bee's followed the horse? I do not think mine will hold us both, but I will be happy to take turns." He shifted again, this time to jump down, and soon after holding out the reigns towards Horace. Quote: Rolling a 2: Someone seems to have left food on the road for you! How nice! +10 food. After his horse had sidled off into the horizon (and Tommy's slip), Horace and Tommy entered the forest. He kept one hand on the hilt of an anelace, searching the leaves for threats. Something seemed utterly spooky about the too-tall trees that lined the path. His booted foot hit something solid and Horace stumbled, catching himself with one hand on a box. "D'you think this food is... edible?" QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 30 / 44 YOUR HP: 30/30

Into the forest they went, with little more issue after the bee and cliff scare. Thomas was back on his horse, and munching on a rather delicious apple, when Horace came to a stop, Thomas's mount coming to a stop as well as he pulled back gently on the reins, uttering a quite "Woah." He gave the box in question, and it's contents, a scrutinizing glance. "I do not know. Perhaps we should bring it along, and use it as a last resort?" He suggested, when suddenly, something large and rather unsavory scuttled across his field of vision, startling him (and his horse) enough that he dropped his delicious food on the ground as he let out a loud yelp of surprise. Quote: Rolling a 5: Your horse gives up on you, running away. Every turn you take, you must subtract another additional 5 food from the caravan. The forest path wound round and round and led into a mountain. "This is just like in a knightly story..." He lit a torch (Horace was always, always prepared), and stepped in. Rusted armor shone dully under a coating of dust, skeletons of adventurers past. Horace rather thought that is Shoebox were still here, he would've bolted. He was a skittish horse, even if Horace was quite fond of him. But, unbeknownst to Horace, his bag now had a hole. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 / 44 YOUR HP: 30/30

The journey through the forest seemed to take ages, but Tommy was feeling rather confident, despite past incidents, that they would reach their destination soon. Well, after they went through this mountain, of course. Getting down from his horse, he led the mount inside, following Horace at his heels (and somehow missing the part where his bag tore open). "Ah yes, very much so!" He agreed, "And---" Wait, what was that hissing sound? "Snakes!" He shouted, gaze going to the floor, he jumped to the side as one lunged at him, but there were many more to follow as he began booting it down a stone corridor in an attempt to get away. Somehow he still managed to hold on to his horse. Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally step on a booby trap as snakes start chasing you! Quote: Rolling a 2: In your excitement to get the artifact, you drop one of the bags of food! You lose ALL OF YOUR FOOD. QUEST FAIL FOR WHOLE PARTY. Nobody had told Horace there would be snakes. Something about them made a fondness warm in his chest and he blinked it away. How curious. Of course, they were poisonous and dangerous to Tommy, but they were also likely scared. And then Horace heckied everything up. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 15 / 44 YOUR HP: 30/30

Horace had gone and hecked it all up, but Tommy did not seem at all upset, even if it did mean they'd had to journey all the way back to the castle to restock up on supplies. By the time they got back, he was famished, and also in need of a little bit of medical attention (damn snake bites!). Soon, however, they were ready to go again, Thomas mounting his horse and smiling as if nothing at all had gone wrong the first time they had made this journey together. "Ready?" He asked, rather cheerfully. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 22 YOUR HP: 30/30

Shoebox was indeed waiting for Horace, dappled hide gleaming. "You're pleased as punch, ain't you?" Still, he rubbed the stallion's nose affectionately and slipped him an apple. Shoebox whinnied softly, looking for all the world like an angelic horse instead of the nervous wreck he was. Horace snorted and swung himself into the saddle. Tommy was, as usual, a bright beacon of energy. It was comforting, how eager he was and it made Horace perk up as well. He bent, checking the straps one last time. Shoebox had that horrible habit of puffing up like a giant balloon when saddled. "I'd like to say I was born ready, but I just don't know." He flashed the other knight a grin, all white teeth. He found that the more he got to know Horace, the more he liked him. Their personalities seemed to mesh well, which may have been precisely why they were both pledged to the same great knight. Awaiting to hear the other man's response to his question, he nodded and grinned in response. "No, I suppose neither of us do." It should have been a depressing thought, but Thomas did not like to dwell on things that were sad, and instead, chose to look forward at what lay ahead. Once they were both ready, he spurred his horse to life, and their journey began anew. They seemed to be making their way along quite well, which Thomas was grateful for, and he even said as much, which may have been a mistake. Clearly, he had jinxed them, as a loud growling came from a nearby brush, and a large, bristling, grey wolf, clearly starving and looking for a meal, came bounding out towards him, teeth flashing. Thomas's face fell, his eyes widening, and soon he was attempting to fend off the creature, who was going for his legs, while he kicked Beehive into a gallop, while also swinging at the vicious beast with his crossbow, in no position to load it with a bolt. Eventually, the wolf gave up, and Thomas let out a loud sigh, slumping in his saddle. "Remind me to never open my big mouth again."
