Noemi hadn't really expected someone to join her on this quest this time around, so when the man, with matching armor as hers which was odd in itself, and had offered her a smile that was comforting, asked to come with, she didn't say no.
Even as she strapped the saddle on the horse, she couldn't help her head peeking up over the black ponies side, to look over at the brunette. He was much taller then herself, and still had the charming smile on his face.
It was hard not to feel AND hear the thump of her heart, and she wondered why it ached so looking at him.
"So...So....were you always wanting to be a knight?" She quietly said...mostly to the horse who just answered by batting at her with it's head.

Somehow, Milo had managed to miss the other parts of the castle all together. The areas where other knight-apprentices like himself (just thinking about that word filled him with unexplained pride) were mingling. No, he had managed to wander elsewhere throughout the castle and by chance ran into that cute girl he had smiled at after they had given their pledges to the Great King.
After a few formalities and an awkward exchange of words, he had - yes - agreed to accompany the young lady upon a quest. Something about it just seemed... natural to do; another one of those unexplained feelings. Along with her inquiry.
"Aa, yes ~" Milo replied to her in a boastful manner, (of course, he had gathered she was speaking to him and not her horse), "deep in my heart I do believe I have."
"And you, Lady Noemi?"

Noemi didn't even startle at Milo's boastful manner and actually felt...quite at ease with it. Unlike Damien or Lex in the hall, she felt well...happy to be with Milo. Much like she had been with Chris and Chelsea.
"That's good! I have been told that if we practice enough and train, we shall become good knights. I hope to do so. I have...." She blinked, "Someone to protect...I think." She paused.
"I didn't want to be a knight. I think..." She murmured, "I don't remember really. I feel...in my heart I was very happy..." Her hand reached for something she played with when she felt nervous, a small pendent around her neck hidden under her armor. A promise she felt, but couldn't remember who or when. "But if I find who I am to protect as well, I think I'll be okay." She shifted the saddlebags again and put her foot in the stirrup, then she pulled herself up.
"This feels natural too, and I've come to like him." She murmered gently into the horses ear as it snickered at her. Soon her smile turned to him. "I hope you will not be bored on this quest with me."QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 + YOUR HP: 30/30

He might not have gotten much of a reaction out of her, which he didn't think anything of, but the black steed he was preparing for their venture. It kind of wished to switch riders at the moment, hoping that the guy wasn't to be like this the whole time (probably was). The horse, at least, didn't go about attacking Milo as he saddled it up, or secured his bags.
"I would hope so," He told her, eager for the training himself. There was a lingering feeling that he had had some previously, or at least a meager attempt to set himself upon this path. It was often annoying having such thoughts without being able to grasp them fully. Like now, when he was looking at the red head as she mounted her horse. There was.. just something... "Someone to protect though," Milo added on after clearing his throat to dispel his thoughts, "a fine reason to become a knight. I believe... I feel the same." Overall though? Or did he have someone as well?
"I would be happy to aid you in your quest to find this someone, Lady Noemi, just say the word." He grinned to her as climbed upon his horse as well. One hand on the reigns, he made a few final adjustments and checked the security of his bag and weapon.
With her doubt, he simply chuckled. "Hah! I feel we will have just the opposite in our adventure."

She smiled at him, especially with his exuberance. "Did anyone ever mention that you remind them a lot of the sun. So bright and cheerful? It is very refreshing." And she thought, more normal then the gruff and rudeness of other knights. She personally didn't mind his loud boisterous self.
She probably should.
"Then onwards....we go....?" She kicked the horse into gear, taking to the steady path.
"Have you met any other knights, or did I perhaps steal you before you got a chance to explore?" Noemi looked at him apologetically.
Her look earned her a step to close to the edge of the road and she blinked. "OH DEAR...." She pulled back...QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 + 37 = 62 YOUR HP: 30/30

It seemed like they were properly upon their quest as the scenery began to change around them. It seemed possible that dangers could be lurking around any corner now, behind any tree and that seemed undoubtedly fun to the young knight-apprentice. It didn't hurt to have good companionship either and at her statement, Milo let out a hearty laugh. "You would be the first, at least now anyways. There was much lost with the pledge, so it could have been stated before." He had to wonder if it had but it was no use dwelling on such things that could maybe never return.
"And no, I haven't had a chance to talk to any others, but it's no worries, Lady Noemi. There will be chance later." Milo went on, waving off that look on her face before his hand shot out even though it was no where near a chance to catch her stumble. Instinct perhaps.
"Are you alright?" Now he was concerned and he veered his horse to trot a little bit closer to her, not noticing they had lost a little bit of food.
But he didn't get to check further as a low growl greeted the pair. Milo's head snapped towards their intended path where a large mountain lion awaited them, snarling and blocking their path. It probably would have been a good idea for him to slow the pair of them to a halt, find another way. But instead the brunet charged his horse forward intending to make sure the wild animal had no chance to strike his companion.
Milo turned his horse to one side, allowing it to block Noemi from going further and to allow himself to dismount and take on the beast. Its anger was evident and as soon as he managed to touch the ground it decided to strike. Not even a chance to get his weapon but at least a chance to raises his arm to catch its teeth on his armor. They both tumbled to the ground. Still, it got in a good hit with its claws and teeth before he managed to knee it in the stomach and push it off.
And either he was just that awesome or it had more bark than bite, but it didn't continue its attack and simple scampered back to which it came. No more mountain lion.
"Aa, I seem to have been wounded. Aa, well ~" Still, he chuckled as he assessed the gash on his exposed arm. "I hope you are alright." Quote: Food remaining: 61 YOUR HP: 20/30

Noemi's reaction to the cougar was nothing short of a small squeal but, she had once heard that if left alone, the creatures would move on-
Or Milo was getting off his horse and her eyes widened to large amber orbs.
"Wai...Wait Sir Milo, I don't think-" But her breath held as the cougar moved to attack, and though she had no expertise, she pulled the reigns tightly on her horse, prepared to draw the steed back and use its hooves to beat the cougar away.
Milo fought splendidly though and soon the beast was dispelled, but not without leaving its mark on the man.
"Hold sir Milo!" Noemi clambered off her horse, pulling clean cloths and ripping them to make a makeshift bandage. Using the water brought to clean, she tsked and made sounds before sending a look up at the man.
"We are knights now." She began, "But we are not foolish knights." She made sure that was clear before smiling, "You are brave sir, I wish I could do that." She looked him over as their windy path entered into the forest.
Thick heavy woods silenced all sound, and Noemi couldn't help but draw her horse closer to Milo's, even as far as going to grab a loaf of bread to keep her hands and mouth distracted.
As she turned to do so, A giant spider fell from the tree's, Hissing at her.
And for a moment, Noemi thought it was the end. But she retaliated with a high pitch scream, and tossing of loaves of bread till the spider was gone and she and her horse were far into the distant path.

"Haha, my apologies, Lady Noemi. I guess my excitement got the better of me," he confessed with a sheepish smile as she bandaged his arm. "I do appreciate the gesture, thank you." He went on to tell her, his smile in full force from the aid he received. (It almost felt familiar).
With his arm fixed, sure enough they were once more on their way traveling through the forest. It was a lovely journey, Milo found himself thinking as he looked around. It might have been treacherous but with his present company, he couldn't complain.
"Lady Noemi, are you alright?" He called out when he heard her scream. Milo watched the aftermath of her tossing her food at a gigantic spider and reared his horse towards her's as best he could to check up on her. Milo's horse didn't seem to like the sudden movement (or perhaps it had suddenly seen the spider and got spooked) as the blue knight suddenly found himself off and on the ground, the steed taking off without him. And most of his food.

Eventually Noemi's horse gave up on her and she was just. It's like the horses were so spooked and she wasn't sure how to be.

"Though a horse is helpful in these mighty quests, we are still knights... almost.. Lady Noemi, and we can easily still go on." Milo told her with a sagely nod. Taking a final count of what they had left, he hefted their bags of provisions (he wouldn't decline if she wanted to offer to carry some, but he was going to take the lead and handle them all for right now).
From the forest they were lead onto the mountains where it seemed many knights had lost their way and battle. Milo gave a sad nod to a few of the bodies that littered the ground they were now traveling on but kept going all the same.
"Oh, is that my horse up ahead?" He sounded hopeful.

Eventually with all their misfortune for the end, Noemi and Milo made it and it was good. She reached and took the shoulders, placing them on her armor and sighing.

Indeed, there had been many perils on their journey, they had lost both their horses and much of their food. It could have been a lot worse though, he had to be honest and there could have been worse companions. Milo gave Noemi a smile as they reached the summit and collected their reward.
And apparently there was an old man up there as well. Giving them food, "Why, thank you kind stranger!"QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 16/62 YOUR HP: 20/30
