She hadn't particularly liked the Green Knight.
He was a tad stuck up, and perhaps he had good reason to, being one of the Great Knights and all, but hey. She'd show him.
"Won't we, Radek?" She murmured, stroking the neck of the dapple grey horse. He was not only a reliable mount, but a friend, and someone she actually felt comfortable with.

The map he had drawn had let her to a cliff and she dismounted from Radek, leading him carefully by the reins.
But not carefully enough.

A dark forest was now ahead of them and though Radek seemed slightly reluctant to venture into the dangers ahead, she managed to coax him in eventually.
And hey, they found some food too!

A perilous mountain lay ahead of them, and she wondered how they would find their way back, with each twisting turn they took.
Something snapped beneath her feet and an axe swung into her, slamming her into a wall.

She was so close.
This was the spot on the map that had been indicated. Now wherever was the Great King?
In all her excitement, a loose rock crumbled beneath her foot and the bag that contained what was left of her food fell into the abyss.

A growl sounded in the bushes as they started on their second journey, and Marzena sighed. They weren't even in the forest yet!
She was too late to draw her sword, however, and the wolf managed to wound her.

She was starting to think that the bite the wolf gave her was somehow infected as she felt herself growing weaker with each step through the woods.
Radek nudged her, but she stubbornly trekked on ahead... until she came close to fainting.

Marzena had been extremely annoyed with the whole dysentery situation. She had to endure laying in the infirmary and receiving treatment, when all she wanted to do was to get better as fast as possible and resume her quest.
Never mind that she had failed twice. Never mind that she had made some mistakes that could have been avoided if she had been more alert.
She was alive and kicking and that was what mattered. What did not kill you made you a stronger person, or well, a knight. And as a knight, she was not one to give up easily. But she was also wise enough to remember what had happened the first time, and grasped her pouch tightly, only losing one bread roll to the fall.

And even though she had packed lesser food than usual (the more food there was, the more there was to go to waste), she spotted a pile of food on the road. She supposed it was a nice gesture, and Radek certainly seemed pleased enough, but Marzena also found it a tad bit suspicious.
What if the food had been poisoned by a creature of the forest?
But before she could stop him, Radek had shoved his nose into the bag.

The main problem with the maze was that she couldn't tell which tile was something she should avoid. There weren't any that were clearly out of place, nor looked slightly different, and it was all she could do to tread as carefully as possible.
Unfortunately, a click sounded, and she shoved Radek backwards as arrows rained down on her, lodging themselves into her shoulder and her thigh.
