Astronomy -
Robert has a soft spot for the stars, and likes to study and watch them when he has a spare moment. He can often be found looking out his window, or with his telescope. When he has some actual free time to himself, which is rare in itself but not impossible, he might go camping just to lay out under the stars. He always loves to go someplace clear so he can see them, and if not, he will read up on them and the news around them. The concept of space, of its endless possibilities and limitless potential, really call to his heart.

Listening -
This is a guy that is always listening and learning. He gathers information on others by engaging in simple conversations, especially at work where it is important to know about his enemies and allies. If those really exist, the way he views things. When not at work, though, and on his own, he still finds himself turning an ear to the conversations around him. It is sometimes interesting to come up with backstories for people, based on the simple moments he sees them passing through, and he enjoys seeing strange and new things in the world around him. People are oddly fascinating, and though he does not much like to be a part of them, he does like learning about them, watching them, and seeing what life has to offer to others. Seeing where the lines are, how different things can be from one person to the next, is his own private social experiment that keeps him interested in people.

Antiques -
Anything with a story can be a treasure, and Robert knows that. The past is as interesting as the present and the future can be, and so he loves looking at and collecting things from the past. His house is furnished in antiques, from desks to chairs to the things that give his shelves personality. Limited as his own is, he finds interest in the history left behind in simple, worn, forgotten objects. His favorite places to visit in his free time are antique and collectible stores, and he spends time browsing and asking questions about where things came from. That makes the small, personal stores his favorite, as they tended to take more time with what they had in their stocks than the bigger donation based ones. Sometimes even yard and block sales could offer something curious for his collection, and he will organize day trips to visit estate sales or auctions when he hears about them.

Virtues:

Bring It On -
Robert has climbed his way through life the hard way. Nothing has ever been handed to him, and he has become very good at succeeding when things seem stacked against him. He learns quickly, and can adapt to what needs to be done quickly, when it is needed, instead of succumbing to the normal instincts of resisting change. He is all too happy to evolve, to become better, and it makes him a strong leader and associate. Once he is set to a purpose, then, he is willing to do whatever he can to get it done. In the business world, this has allowed him to create a strong company that required bringing others up with him. They follow him because he’s damn good, can make them money, and knows what he’s doing. Not because they particularly like him. Not that it matters: teaming with strong allies is what gets him where he wants to go, and he understands the need for others to do the same. Sentimental ties are not his thing, making him an ideal businessman.

Bottom Line -
Clever and resourceful, Robert can be very useful in a pinch. He has a method to his thought that allows him to see the bigger picture, and all the details that make it. Through deduction he is able to pick his way through tough situations, difficult puzzles, and whatever else life throws his way. He is the guy people come to when they have questions, or need some practical advice. He double checks work, is okay with making difficult decisions and with offering his advice and notes without any hesitance. Sometimes he can be a bit too direct about it, fair enough, but he is someone with something to teach. Learning from him can often be hard, but important and often he points out the side of things others are not brave enough. That is why he is respected in his circle, and by his peers, even if they do avoid him when it comes to hanging out or being friendly. That is not what he is there for.

Soft Center -
For all his difficulties with social interactions, there is a heart in there, somewhere. He has the ability to bond with others, it just takes a lot of work to unearth it. Once it’s found, though, he proves to be a loyal and dedicated friend, who will turn all of his devious plotting and steadfast determination toward helping someone he cares about at all costs. Sometimes, it’s better for him not to tell them just how he goes about that, but it hardly matters. For him, the important part is getting what needs to be done finished, so his friends or loved ones, whoever they might be, can be happy. This is a part of himself even he is not too familiar with, but is a vital part of what makes him human. It is perhaps his best quality, and sometimes things like that can be worth the effort. Even if he is a lot of work.

Flaws:

For Vengeance -
Robert has a bad temper, which is particularly apt at flaring up when he is not getting his way. Though he considers himself a master of finding other people’s limits, pushing them to their breaking point, he absolutely hates it when his targets can come back at him with the same. He despises being exploited or taken advantage of, and cannot handle being lied to. If he ends up feeling like a fool or a loser at the end of an encounter, then his anger gets the better of him. And one might not like him when he is angry: though he does not Hulk out, he does become vindictive and set on revenge. His ability to hold a grudge is almost profound, and he can often be blinded by seemingly small reminders of his grudges with a vicious, broad kind of anger that tends toward violence.

Cowardly Lion -
As calculating and dangerous as he is, Robert is no fool. He values, above all else, his own life, and he will go to whatever length possible to preserve it. This fear of loss extends to his personal life, including his profession, his livelihood, and other such things. He is accustomed to a certain way of life, and he chooses to continue it no matter what it means he must do. Thankfully, he is willing to make others sacrifice on his account, and to take advantage of those around him to ensure he continues to prosper. Wheeling and dealing are the ways to win the game he has created for his life, and he is particularly adept at not only knowing the rules, but finding his way between them.

Exhaustive Focus -
Robert can be a hard worker. A very, very hard worker. In fact, he tends to forget to do things like eat or sleep or take care of himself when he is dead set on a problem. That often leads him to the point of exhaustion, where his temper and attitude are at their worst. He is the grumpiest when he needs a nap or a snack, as most people are, and it seems that is almost always the case for him. In general, he keeps up appearances when he has to, and carries himself with a certain amount of pride and vanity, but those things are lost and forgotten when he really gets himself dug into a project. It is better to give him his space, unless people particularly enjoy being snapped at and insulted.
