((Backlogged to correspond with this RP)) The changes were shocking, even with his eyes closed Havasu knew they were no longer in the cold park on a winter’s night. A warm, almost hot, breeze tugged at his hat. Only a mist of water relieved the oppressive heat radiating off of the red stone all around the pair. Havasu took in his surroundings in awe. The red walls of the canyon they were in towered above them and yet he didn't feel crowded since the edges were a good distance apart, a wide swath of sky painting a bright blue path between the cliffs. A surprising amount of greenery flourished around them but as Havasu glanced down to see the crystal clear blue water flow around the little island they were standing on the presence of so much plant life made sense. A crashing was evident and he had a suspicion that just beyond the trees would be his name sake. “Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.” It was said quietly and almost reverently as he continued to take in his surroundings. stari_maga Think like this but so much more 'otherworldly' will also make some minor tweaks on the fall itself when I describe it.

When the world lurched and Cybele knew they were actually going to space, she was expecting something similar to the moon, a ghost world, with its cool, silent air, dusty ruins, and an unrivaled view of the stars twinkling in the distance. Instead, it was hot, too hot in the jacket she was wearing, so her first task was to slip it off and tie it around her waist. She'd give it back to Havasu when they got back to Earth. He didn't need it here, and she thought it gave her a bit of an adventurer's look. "Well, as long as there aren't any lions, tigers, and bears," she replied with a smile, then didn't say anything for a long moment, but shielded her eyes and looked around, drinking in the scenery. There was so much color. They were standing in the middle of an azure river that almost looked wild, which in turn was surrounded by plants that glowed with health. "It's so alive," she whispered finally. Even the red stone of the canyon and the clear sky above were so vibrant that they seemed filled with life. "This place is beautiful." She walked over to the water's edge and closed her eyes, feeling the mist on her face, and wondering if her planet was as nice as this one. Fiction1119 Let me know if I got anything wrong!

stari_maga sorry love... didnt mean to take this long to reply. and you did fine dear heart Havasu absently smiled at Cybele. The surprise was starting to fade and his urge to explore was starting to flower. He crouched down and tested the water to find it on the cool side but still more than warm enough to enjoy thoroughly. Havasu quickly shucked his boots and rolled up his pants until he found himself standing ankle deep in the crystal clear water. It was only a few strides to reach dry land again and a few more to be clear of obscuring plant life. He now had a clear view of his namesake and Havasu was once more struck speechless. He would have guesstimated the falls to be somewhere around 120 to 130 feet tall where it fell vertically into a clear turquoise pool. How deep the pool was he didn't know but he had a feeling it would be rather deep. The water flowed right around the little island they arrived on and gathered in naturally made pools before continuing down beyond a bend in the canyon. Greenery helped screen the island from the falls as well as adding a softening effect for the red stone. "Cybele you have go to come see this!"

As soon as Havasu hit the water, Cybele stopped staring in awe and started tugging at her shoes so she could follow him. It took her longer than it should have to get her feet free from the tangle of ribbons, however. He was already out of sight by the time she started across the river. "I'm coming," she called, then sprinted the rest of the way, splashing noisily and feeling a bit like a child in the best way possible. Hopefully Havasu wouldn't judge her. She came out of the greenery a few feet behind him, then stared. She had suspected it was going to be a waterfall, but not that it would be so huge, so majestic, that it would be sparkling quite so beautifully in the sunlight. Her cousin was dragging her into the woods, and they'd hiked to some 'falls' a few times, but compared to this they were nothing. "It's beautiful," she said finally, coming up to stand beside Havasu, not even realizing that she'd just said that about the island. Her vocabulary wasn't the best when she was in awe. "Can we get closer?"

Havasu was rather transfixed by his namesake and it took him a moment to realize that Cybele had joined him. It was a little hard to hear her question over the dull roar of the falling water but compared to some of the other falls he had heard his was reliant icky quiet. He didn't answer her right away but instead looked around trying to see a way to get closer. To his surprise he saw two ways. Pointing to the left he said, "we could try that beach," the water must have been flowing for such a long time for a beach to have formed. "It looks like it goes right up the the cliff wall but it's still a distance out to the base of the fall. Or we can go that way." He pointed to the right where a barely there goat path climbed its way up the cliff face to the top of the falls. Where the path starts he couldn't see since it was hidden by greenery. He probably wouldn't have even spotted the trail if a flash of movement along it hadn't drawn his attention. He shrugged off the feeling of strangeness as an overall feeling from this whole trip. Havasu turned to face his fall once more, inching closer to the lapping of the water. His bare toes scuffing softly over red stone. He could feel the mist soaking into his vest and shirt and it felt almost like a compulsion to dive right in. Wanting to feel the thrum of the water driving into his body had him grinning as he quickly unbuttoned his vest. With a laugh he striped down to his pants, leaving his shirt, vest, belt, and hat behind. The shoes and socks left back at the landing point. "The best way to view it would be up close and personal." He gave a whoop and dived into the water without a backwards glance. The water was cool at first but he quickly warmed up as he began to swim towards the base of the falls. The current was strong but not insurmountable but the pool was surprisingly deep so it took longer than he thought it would take to get close. It was so loud there that he couldn't even here his own thoughts, the throbbing of the water drowning out all his worries and questions. He got as close as he could, sadly not very, with the spray stinging his bare skin like needles. He knew he couldn't stand under it like the buddhists monks are said to do.... He thought. Instead he floated on his back and the the current take him where it willed, back towards the edge of the beach, and the naturally made pools that the fall pool bled into.

Just the thought of climbing the high, rocky path up the falls was enough to make Cybele's stomach twist a bit. The beach looked a little better, a little smoother and more stable, but just considering the height of it, it didn't look at all safe. "I just meant closer to the water, not... up," she said quietly, the enthusiasm quickly fading from her voice, especially as she noticed that Havasu was already heading off towards the water. She followed, not wanting to be left behind again. If they did end up climbing the falls... she could probably handle it. Her tiara joined his clothing on the shore, and then she splashed thorough the shallows, still loving the bright colors and the light that made her squint and the shock of cold water and the strange, exotic summer of it all. The spray ended up being less refreshing and more unpleasant the closer she got to the falls, so she floated around at a bit of a distance instead, heading to shore several minutes later once she started to get tired. After taking a few deep breaths and wringing out her skirt, which probably wasn't even necessary at this temperature, she smiled once again at Havasu. She was about to gush more about the wonder of this place, but then something crossed her mind. "What were we looking for again? Your ring?" She was fairly certain it was his ring.

Havasu was just floating. His mind wandering as he occasionally, lazely swished his hands to keep moving. The distant thrumming of the falls created a kind of white noise and if he didn't see the red rock of the canon he could almost imagine he was floating through the sky rather than the water. The sound of splashing had him sit up and tread water. Cybele was climbing out and once he realized he turned around, a pale dress and water did not bode well for decent coverage. How to mention the rather opaque issue delicately? Swimming backwards till he was able to stand on the sandy bottom he called back towards her, "uh... You might want to use my shirt to cover up untill your dress is dry." Unlike her outfit his pants wouldn't reveal anything although they might cling a bit. Hopefully once out of the water the warm air would help dry them both out. Spacing out again as the water sloshed against his chest, Havasu followed the flow of water up to the crest of the falls. From where he was standing it seemed to rise for a long time but he knew it was just a trick of his mind. "What?" He began to turn towards Cybele but stopped when he realized he had no idea if she was decent yet. "My ring?" He had completely forgotten why they had come to his wonder in the first place. "Yeah. Any ideas?" Nothing about the canyon and falls said that man had ever set foot there. The idea that some previous knight had once resided in such an untouched place was nearly mind boggling. If he wasn't contemplating coming back with some camping gear himself he would have dismissed the idea right off.

Cybele glanced down. "Oh, sorry," she said, and smirked as he quickly turned around, because she was an actress, which meant costume changes, which meant people seeing you more or less naked all the time, which meant she honestly did not care. Anyway, her fuku seemed to have a built in set of undergarments, which were also slightly clingy but took the wet dress effect down from adult movie to sensual perfume commercial. She went to get the shirt, though, because she didn't need Havasu getting too flustered. "All right, I'm modest," she said, although once she got a decent look at him, with his lack of shirt and clingy pants, her smirk widened and she shook her head slowly. "And I... suppose you are as well. Here, would you like your jacket?" On her way towards him, she picked it up from where she'd left it on the shore and tossed it to him. "As for your ring..." she surveyed the area briefly, but nothing shiny really stood out to her, even in the bright sun. "Hmm... I don't see anything. The waterfall itself is your wonder, though, right? Maybe it's close to there?" Honestly, though, she had no idea.

"No biggie. My mom raised me to be a gentleman is all." That and he had a girl he liked. Once she had given the all clear he headed towards her, raising from the water reluctantly. "What? Oh, um, sure." He caught the leather jacket and put it on, quite aware of his shirtless state. Even with the warm sun shining, the slight breeze chilled his wet skin. That would change given enough time for his body to adjust to the temperature changes. He contemplated Cybele's suggestions. "I guess. I mean my name is Havasu Falls so it makes sense that the ring is somehow dealing with the fall itself." He eyed the falling expanse of water racked his brain with a logical place a small trinket would be located. Even after being transported to his wonder by magic it never even crossed his mind that the ring could be hidden by magic as well. Coming up blank he surveyed the area again; beach, trees, pools, and trail. Nothing screamed 'hiding spot for ring'. "Maybe if I go to the top of the falls I'll spot it." It was a long shot but Havasu also found himself really wanting to climb the nearly invisible game trail. Before Cybele had a chance to speak he was striding across the ground and into the bushes. The sound of him making his way through plants and the tumble of stones as he accidentally kicked them preceded his appearance on the ledge. He moved slowly but surely up the trail until he reached half way. There the trail narrowed until it it was barely wide enough for him to slide past sideways, his front hugging the warm red stone, his bare toes clinging to the ledge. He hissed in surprise and pain when a sharp stone cut his thumb, a small amount of blood smeared on the stone. Insignificant as things go but for Havasu everything felt more 'alive' the very ledge he was clinging too seemed to him beneath his toes. There was no sparkling lights or loud fanfare that marked this change, just the change itself, something the page shrugged off and continued on his way. Once back on more or less solid ground he quickly made his way to the top of the falls. The view was pretty magnificent, even if it wasn't far. A bend in the canyon prevented him from seeing any great distance either up or down the river. He dipped his injured hand into the cool water, once again he felt a thrumming in his very bones, but shrugged it off due to the proximity to the falls. With his hands clean of blood he stood as close to the edge of the falls as he could, the spray making the rocks slippery. He waved at Cybele before looking around more seriously. His ring had to be here somewhere right?

Cybele stared rather pointedly at the falls for a few moments. They were lovely, but didn't hold any secrets that she could see from this distance. That didn't necessarily mean anything, though. This whole place was more or less hidden, a summer paradise in what scientists thought was the icy edges of the solar system. If magic could hide a valley, or someone's identity, it could certainly hide a ring. She just wasn't sure how to find it. Havasu's solution, it seemed, was to climb. Good for him. He could do that. She was staying where she was. "All right... Be careful!" He was bounding off before she could even finish, though, which for once was a relief. She wasn't exactly ashamed of being scared of heights, but admitting it was a little embarrassing. "I'll look around here some more," she said, which ended up being completely untrue. Even though she was on solid ground herself, she couldn't help but watch Havasu and flinch every time he so much as hesitated or dislodged a pebble. Don't fall. Don't fall, she repeated over an over in her mind until he finally reached the top. "You made it! Are you all right? Can you see anything?"

Havasu could barely hear her but he got the gist of what she was asking. He shouted back, "I'm fine. Don't see anything yet." Other than the view there wasn't anything that screamed 'look here'. He sighed and crossed his arms in frustration. He mentally turned inwards to think out the puzzle of his hidden ring. The Falls. It was like a whisper, a idea breathed into his ear without him feeling anything. The sensation was so eerie he checked behind him but didn't see anything. Nothing but the red rock and scrub... But he could have sworn the 'voice' had been female. Definitely not his internal voice. He shook it off and turned back to the edge, this time examine the flow of the water. Join the Falls. Again the voice and again he checked to find nothing. The only thing he could think of was the voice from Field of Dreams, the one that insisted Costner's character build the ball field. Deciding to take a page from Ray Kinsella and try to figure out what the voice ment. What the hell did the voice mean 'join the falls'. How could he join water? Well he could swim in it. But he already did that. He could drink it. Even on a magical planet in a magical place he wasn't going to do that. What else was there? Trust the falls. Trust the falls? Just what kind of crap was the mystical voice trying to say? He edged closer to the cliff and stared down the raging water. Havasu really had no idea what the voice wanted but he knew one thing... He really wanted to jump. The sheer rush of it would be epic, if he didn't kill himself in the process. He eyed the rock formations that edged the falls themselves, they would be the biggest obstacle. As he worked out the best way to make his jump he completely missed that the voice stopped talking. Once he decided on the plan he shrugged out of the jacket, took a few steps back, and with one last bracing breath he took a running jump. Letting out a shout of glee at the last second. For a heartbeat he was suspended in midair, then gravity took over and Havasu was falling. It was pretty surreal since he had judged the angle just right and was just in front of the falls, avoiding the stone outcroppings and appearing to be dragged down with the water. He was being drenched by the spray but that didn't matter to him because he barely got a chance to take a deep breath when he landed in the pool below. The force of the fall drove him to the very bottom, a feat just freediving would not have gotten him. There he floated for what felt like an eternity. The water was so clear he could see the silt and sand around him as it slowly billowed up from his disturbance. The bubbles sparked and shone as they flashed upwards where sunlight bathed everything in a teal, wavering light. That same light glinted off of something gold that had been kicked up by his arrival. Before he had a chance to examine it the timeless quality he felt ran out. With his lungs screaming for air he reached out and grabbed a fistful of the sparking silt before propelling himself to the surface as fast as possible. His head broke through moments later where he took great gulping breaths of fresh air. He had really been under for just a few seconds but for him it really had felt like forever. He made his way over towards Cybele where he climbed out of the water and collapsed on his back spread eagle, facing up. The warmth of the stone behind him and the warmth of the sun above, he completely forgot about the gunk still secure in his clenched fist.

She watched patiently as Havasu looked around, figuring that if he saw anything or importance, he would let her know. It was a little boring. She shifted a bit and fanned herself with her hands. Now that she was drying off, the heat was going from a welcome change from the winter back on Earth to fairly unpleasant. ...and then, Havasu was running towards the falls, and then he was jumping, and not only were these things happening, they were happening while he seemed... unfazed, even happy about them. That was fine. He did not have to freak out. Cybele would freak out for him. She screamed, and her scream was not just a squeak of shock but the full, piercing sound of panic and horror that she hadn't made since the first time she'd seen someone killed. Once he hit the water, she sprinted towards him, splashing through the shallows once more, only to finally breathe when his head broke above the water. Then, she took the few steps back to shore and waited for him. Her fear instantly turned into embarrassment. So much for trying to be in control of her emotions. "Are you all right?" she asked, and then, as mildly as she could, "And, if I may ask... what was that all about?" She knew that her fear of heights was somewhat irrational, but it was hard to wrap her mind around anyone willingly jumping from the top of a waterfall.

Havasu was happy. His blood was still rushing through out his body and he was still flying on the adrenalin rush. He laughed loudly and casually sat up on his elbows, what was left of the warm water trailing down his chest, his jacket forgotten at the top of the falls. "God that was fun." His smile was so wide it was beginning to hurt his cheeks but he didn't care. Chuckling Havasu did his best to answer the senshi, "I'm fine really Cybele. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. Besides it is the fastest way to get back down here." He began to reach up to shake the excess water out of his hair when he realized his hand was still fisted around muck. "You really should try it. It's freaking exhilarating." It was said absently as he sat up completely, opened his hand, and revealed a blob of gritty sediment. He would normally have just wiped it off but there was something in the muck that glittered. It only took him a moment to fish the object and after a wiping off as much dirt as possible the glitter revealed itself into a simple gold ring with a flat blue stone on the top. The dirt was still caked around it so he wasn't able to see the design but he had a feeling this is what Cybele was talking about. "Cybele lookit!" He held it out, dirty hand and all. "Little b*****d was in the crap at the bottom of the falls." He smiled brightly and glanced over to the falls, his eye tracking the cascading water up to the top of the cliff. For a moment he would have sworn he had seen a figure standing in the mist kicked up by the river but when he did a double take the figure was gone. Havasu shrugged the figure and the voice off as part of the strangeness of the canyon, he was in space after all.
