Wash is a tall, dark skinned man, well muscled and suited to long days of hard work. His weapon of choice is a simple and oft-used sword, and what he lacks in technique he makes up for in brute strength. He chose knighthood to attempt to ensure the safety of his family; a sister, brother, and parents who are to old to fight.
He is kind and well meaning, slow to speak and quick to listen.
