Close to the town of Dokho there is an old wharf, an old fisherman by the name of Bartholomew tends to the place making sure no one causes any trouble and tends to the daily upkeep of the lands. Although only seldom used now with the fear of what lurks beyond the mists, there is still the need to venture out to collect the bounty of the salty waves. Dokoh thrives on its market of fish and shell jewelry, so there will always be a brave soul taking on the task of fighting not only the storms, but the mist and its unknown creatures.

Wandering up the an old shack close to the docks of the wharf you notice an old man sitting in a rocking chair. He turns to look you way and smiles, waving a hand and then motioning you closer. Letting curiosity get the better of you, you wander closer as the man gets up.
"Aye there, it has been awhile since I had anybody to talk to! M'name's Bartholomew. I collect stories, trade riddles..." His old greying face perked up. "Perhaps ya gots a good riddle on ya? Oh! And let m' test out yer knowledge too!"
Spitting into his rough, rope torn hands the old fisherman rubs his hands together, all but dancing in glee at his sudden opportunity.

Umm, I think that would be the Ietti?
If you rolled a 6:
The Great Deadfire took you away from us.
"Ah, it has been awhile since I have heard a good riddle. Won't you share a good riddle to ol' Bartholomew? If I guess right however, I win. If I don't guess right, then you win, and I will show you something interesting."
Ask a riddle
You can CREATE a riddle, based on your character's lives, or find an old one. Roll a dice 6-sided dice and make the riddle. Write this in a post and continue onwards.
If you roll odd:
The fisherman easily guesses your riddle. "Hahaha! Come now, you must try a LITTLE harder! I may be old but I am still sharp as a tack."
Quote:
Your character's riddle has been GUESSED. You will have to restart the quest from the first post again! Please write an RP reaction to this prompt before you do.
If you roll even:
"Huh... Well I will be darned, with all the stories I have been given I can't think of an answer to your puzzle. You win this time, follow me."

My name: Fable My faction: Nightmare Small IC description of character: Fable is a somewhat small and dainty mare with a keen and piercing gaze. Her manner is distant, but intense, and she seems somewhat disconnected from those around her. Oracle Scribe:here
Fable doesn't come near the beach too often, but today has been a strange day. She's somewhat surprised to find the old fisherman, though, and introduces herself calmly. The old man has a light in his eye that is a bit... disturbing, to her, and she keeps a few feet of distance from him. But, when he mentions riddles, her ears perk up a little. She may be a speaker of dreams but she has always enjoyed a good riddle -- and in some ways, dreams are just that.
"You first then, old man," her tone isn't unkind though. And as he gives his first riddle, she merely smiles.
"A Rava, of course. Too easy."

"And now it's my turn, very well..." She pauses to consider, for a moment, and then:
"In darkness it comes creeping; sly, and falls upon you in helpless sleep. What is it?"

The fisherman gives her a cunning look, and Fable meets his gaze coolly. When he smiles, though, she knows she's lost this round.
"..A dream, of course!" She sighs softly....
"Yes.. you are correct. I suppose it is your turn again, then."
He gives his new riddle: Rarely seen, rarely talked about, but great might we do have. and Fable mulls it over.
"...The Ietti, I believe?" He grumps a little at being found out, and Fable merely chuckles a little. "Don't be sore. This is turning out to be more interesting than I anticipated. Perhaps we'll both learn a new riddle or two, hm?" She cants her head a little as she considers her next one.
"Oh.. I know a good one!"

"What lies awake at night, unseeing -- yet seeing all? And goes to bed when the morning birds crows their call?" Fable stares at the old man. The beach is the only sound around them, until finally he squints.
"Huh... Well I will be darned, with all the stories I have been given I can't think of an answer to your puzzle. You win this time, follow me."
Fable is surprised a little at that, and shifts to follow the old man. He takes her around to a place in the sand marked with the strange hoofprints she's spotted before. They seem to be the very same. What in the world....? Someone else has been here. She wonders who.
"Thank you, though I do not know what this means." His smile is strange, and Fable gives him one last glance as she walks away. "The answer, of course, was The Moon," she calls back, finally, with a small smile.

My name: Talya My faction: Nightmare Small IC description of character: A sense of nervousness nibbled upon the mare's mind, her stance shifting from hoof to hoof. Despite this, the sensation of excitement also enthralled her, capturing her willingly as she embarked upon a new step and journey upon this chapter of her life. Oracle Scribe:Zempre's Oracle Scribe
Talya enjoyed the beach, loved it in fact and had every intention to enjoy herself by spending time here as well throughout the celebrations. Coming upon a old shack, she found herself surprised to see an older man there who was quick to introduce himself and even quicker to suggest a game of riddles. Talya was alright at riddles, but no where near the best. However he seemed desperate for a game and after a moment, she agreed to do so. With glee in his eyes, he rubbed his hands and asked her his riddle. Talya couldn't help but shake her head as she wondered if he thought her to be a child? The answer was to simple.
"Ah, that would be a Rava. My turn." Maybe she wasn't that bad at riddles at all!

Talya thought for a moment, her gaze shifting as she did so. She needed a good riddle to stump this old man! After a moment she returned her attention to him. "If you have me, you want to share me. If you share me, you haven't got me. What am I?"
The old man grinned from ear to ear and with the easiest of guesses he replied. "That....would be a secret!" Cackling, and apparently her riddle being to easy, she sighed and nodded.
"Very well, it is your turn them."

((Three 1's in a row xD))
The old man was silient for a moment as he apparently considered his riddle and after a moment he let out a sound of excitement as he asked her another riddle. The only issue was that it was the same riddle again? Confused, Talya wondered if perhaps fisherman was a little senile as well. "Er, I believe that is a Rava..." She replied again, though unsure if she should tell him he asked her this already. Either way he smiled happily as he now waited for her own riddle.

Talya thought again. She needed a strong riddle to stump the senile man! She loved playing this game but at the same time she wanted to explore a little more. Finally, after alot of thought she would ask her own riddle. "This old one runs forever, but never moves at all. He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?"
The fisherman was quiet...for a long time. Long enough that the mare was sure she had stumped him!! However, after a long 'hmmmm' he would finally respond. "I'm believing that to be...a waterfall!"
"You would be correct, old man. Alright, ask me your riddle."

Patiently she listened to his riddle and she almost said Rava again since he had a fascination with it. However, as she listened she realized quickly that this was not the case!! In fact, she almost found herself stumped by the newest riddle!
"Er...." The mare began as she raked her brain for an answer! Surely she wouldn't loose like this! Finally, as if a last minute thought, she would let out an exclamation! "OH! It's a...Ietti?" Her answer didn't sound sure of itself, but the look of disappointment gave away that she was right. Smiling happily, she began to think of another riddle for him.

"We hurt without moving. We poison without touching. We bear the truth and the lies. We are not to be judged by our size. What are we?" The Fisherman hmm'd softly as he listened to her riddle, and this time he was quiet long enough that it made Talya antsy. Finally he shrugged and admitted defeat. Happily, she held her head high! "The answer is...words."
Upon hearing the answer, he chuckled and shook his head before leading the mare away and showing her a pair of tracks. Knitting her brow, she knew she had been seeing a lot of these lately. "So strange...thank you for showing me these."
