Name: Wen
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Demisexual / weyrmated
Rank: Wing Rider
History: Wen is the sole child of his father; his mother died in childbirth trying to bring into the world his sister. He doesn't remember her well or the event. He knows he takes after her in height and built instead of his father. His father has always been a part of the guard at Atlini Hold. Wen when younger was mostly raised by his father's elder sister till he could keep up.
By the time he was eight he was running small chores for the other guards and ended up unofficially in their ranks by the time he was twelve. Wen mostly ran errands, tailed guards going on routine safe calls, and training with new recruits. He officially became an apprentice guard at fifteen. For the last year and a half, Wen has been traveling back and forth to Trine Weyr to bring important missives from Atlini and during his last was chosen as a candidate to stand for the current clutch.
Wen is between excitement and unease about being in Trine with the current predicament. He supports the Weyr, but being in a strange area and surrounded by civilians let alone being unarmed on the sands makes him uncomfortable.
He impressed Rynsemth who is one of the many loves of his life. Cai was another as they impressed at the same hatching and were classmates that became something a bit more.
He fought in the war, raiding and was captured and returned, a bit worse of wear but ready to defend himself. Jemi showed up and they spend a hatching talking and catching up and Jemi impressed one of the hatchings of Sharath clutch, the clutch that changed nearly everything.
War came and he had Cai and Jemi by his side, and then children and he became more and more intense and focused in making sure that the world would be safe for them. When Keller fell it felt right and then it was tarnish when he was poisoned instead of being brought to court.
Cai and Jemi and his children are certainly competitors. He certainly never thought he would have children but the twin girls and his son certainly keeps him jumping at attention. Wen keeps involved as much as he can in his children's lives while he works on flying thread and finding and routing out the rogue golds.
Wen is certainly enjoying the new found color equality after the wherwars and finding his place in the wings and the workings of Trine. If you are going to have power, you better well work for it.
Description: The first thing people notice about Wen is he is so short, at 5'1'' he is dwarf by even women. The second thing has to be his long white blond hair. He keeps it in a tight braid during work and often shoves it under his issue hat. Wen may be physically short but he isn't squat; Wen is leggy and slim, with a trim waist and narrow shoulders. His skin is soft copper, warm burnish brown. His eyes are heavy lidded and grayish blue. He has full lips with a very slight pout.
Scars: Wen has a few scars from work... he has some thin raised slashes from a knife fight down the inside of his left arm. He also has a nasty wide rough road rash like scar from hip up his ribs and down his leg from a fall from a runner onto some very rocky ground.
He got some more, Wen was very involved in the wherwars and has a new set of scars over his shoulder and partly down his back from a glancing blow from a young wher. Rynsemth went and killed it so, they feel rather even. He has a number of odd and ends down his legs and arms and can't remember where they came from.
Personality: Shards! Boy, where did you come from? Wen is inconspicuous, unobtrusive little thing. He is quiet, relaxed, and waits often just out of sight for his superiors to finish and often startles the crap out of them. He tends to be soft spoken and tends to get lost among his more boisterous age mates. And still does, he rather watch and move and report his findings coming and going fast and quiet and unobtrusive to his audience.
Mischievous, he enjoys being a sneaky little thing and startling the crap out of people. He also tends to play mostly non harmful pranks, such as tilting his head quizzically and asking 'Weren't you suppose to be on the night shift with so and so today?" The new recruits get a bit irritable on being prank; the older guards find it amusing. Wen is teaching the new recruits a lesson of know your shifts and patrols. He also a bit of a reminder if a shift ended up changed due to illness.
Mischief is still there and perhaps a tad more dangerous when it comes to finding ways to round up Rogue golds and their supports. Snares are fun, so is mud.
Diligent, Wen gets his work done. Perhaps a little latter then his much more muscle bound brethren but it is well done, with an attention to fine details and accuracy. Wen is going to focus so his work only needs to be done once.
Calm, Wen is short. It doesn't bother him that he is short. It puts him at a rather good advantage when in a fight because he can box someone's kidneys. He doesn't rouse to anger easily, and tends to get more amused than frustrate when handling drunks and other problems.
He's still calm, a slight bit more easy to be riled up if it comes to any of his children but manages to be serene 9 out of 10 times.
Why didn't you call in kid? Wen has trouble admitting he needs a break, or is sick, or any number of things because he should be able to keep to the schedule. He has shown up to work, red with fever and nearly hallucinating. He has taken other shifts till he has no free time and then his captain has to come in and fix it. Take a break, shard it all. You are not use to me dead from exhaustion, kid.
This is eased up, he has more people depending on him and he needs to be in the best of health. He is taking more breaks to be with his children and with his weyrmates and taking better care of himself.
Distant, Wen comes across as guarded and cold. He isn't very talkative outside of work, and when he is it tends to be more teasing and amused at someone else's expense. He tends to keep to what needs to be said when on the job. Yammering and gossip is not very professional and he is really just not that interest in his co-workers life outside the job.
He is slowly coming out of his shell, it takes longer and he is slow but he is making more of a effort to approach others first and to make more friends.
Wen does have a few friends at work, they are all older veterans and while not much is discussed, they have a quiet companionship thing going on. He not overly picky who he works with, but he is rather picky about who he is friends with.
Pressure, Wen is very good at handling pressure. He just not good at knowing his limits. Injuries, Wen first response to an injury depends on the damage. With his leg, he looked at it, said ow, pushed a cloth against it and managed to get on his runner and back to the hold. Where he then threw up and went sort of numb. With his arm, he sort of poked it, noticed that it really needed stitches, clapped his hand around it and sort of walked to the healer and demanded he fix it.
Other: Old Approval
He rides a variety of runner beasts in his job; he also knows how to care for them. He is skilled in archery, knife fighting, and hand to hand defense. His small size makes him unable to excel in offense and larger weaponry.
Dragon
Name: Rynsemth
Age: 14
Colour: Black
Description:

Personality:Egg Name: Misdirect Egg
Egg Description:
Why, how lovely of you to stop by, and looking so nice! Did you dress up just for me? This egg's greeting is smooth and brimming with flattery, but some more perceptive Candidates may notice an oily undercurrent to the feelings. While the dragon inside is distracting those who touch its shell with pleasantness, it's also busy rifling through their minds.
Egg Clutch: Hyweth
Rider Name: Wen
Dragon Name: Rynsemth
Dragon Size: Average/Above Average
Personality:
There are few dragons quite as systematic in their cleverness than this one: manipulation, distraction, and strong-arm tactics are this creature's favorite tools when it comes to getting what it wants. And this dragon WILL get what he wants; few are more ruthless in their pursuit of their goals than Rynsemth. No one who gets in his way will be spared, and he makes it a point to do all he can to ruin and torture those who do. This black is so sure of the rightness of his actions that he is often blind to the pain he causes and the morality of his own deeds. He will need a strong rider to act as his moral compass when he grows too obsessed with his plans and begins to forget that sometimes the end doesn’t justify the means. A rider whom he will view as his equal and partner, lending them a listening ear where he would deny such to others. A rider whom he may question, but will always stand by.
However, Rynsemth rarely appears as he truly is and is often mistaken for a romantic flirt, with his long flowery words and poetic gestures. That’s not to say that this dragon isn’t a romantic, just perhaps not the one most harpers would sing about, seeing as when it comes to wooing he's not afraid to use rather under-handed tactics. He's even less afraid of eliminating the competition. However, when it comes to a fight he will rarely attack you directly: no, this is one black that prefers to go for your weak spots or use hit-and-run tactics, unafraid to retreat and fight another day, no matter if the battlefield is verbal or physical. After all, he’ll get what he wants eventually.
He has a rather deep love for poetry, especially if the poetry is about himself or his rider. Perhaps the only thing Rynsemth loves more then poetry is the color red. In fact, he’ll likely insist that his weyr be covered in the color with red rugs, red tapestries, red everything. When asked why, he will simply reply that the color red reminds him of Her. Who this "Her" is, no one is sure.
While not afraid to get his hands dirty, when it comes to his age this dragon will be extremely vain. As far as he's concerned he never passed a turn old and never will. No, this dragon and his rider, as far as he's concerned, will never age and woe be upon anyone who points out otherwise.

Why Me?
Rynsemth found in Wen someone capable of being just as subtle and sneaky as he is, with a level head and good work ethic; when they work together, no one will be able to stop them from reaching their goals. Wen can also handle the pressure of being bonded to such an intense dragon, and more importantly, the restraint he shows in playing harmless pranks on others may prove helpful in softening Rynsemth's cut-throat dealings with others.
