A few months since their... somewhat tense working environment, Leucite finally decided to reach out and contact Amethyst. He really had no real plan in mind - if anything he wanted to show off. "Iudicael, sit." Leucite commanded his personal youma, who had been on patrol with him since the early evening. He toyed with the communication crystal in his hand, before reaching out and calling Amethyst. Captain Amethyst, this is Captain Leucite, I would like to invite you out to come and patrol with me. I'm near the hospital, about a block north. I hope to see you soon. With that, he sat - an waited for a reply.

Being the kind of person that he was, not once did it ever cross Amethyst's mind to file a formal report or exact some form of punishment on Leucite for what would have been seen by another of his rank as insubordination and utter disrespect towards a more senior officer with what transpired during the interrogation session back then. Since that particular operation, it was pretty much business as usual for him, with monthly energy quotas to fulfil on top of juggling both his job and his love life. As it was, he was barely managing already and hardly had any time to train or do anything more.
It so happened that Leucite caught him just as he was about to begin his patrol for the evening, today being one of the days in the week when Mel had classes till late and hence wouldn't be able to spend time together with him. He knew which hospital Leucite was referring to alright and wasted no time with teleporting there in response to his message.
"So it is true. I thought for a moment that you were pulling my leg." He smiled the moment he saw the change in the other male, genuinely glad that Leucite was finally recognised for his contributions to the Negaverse and earned himself the rank of a Captain. "Congratulations on your promotion. When did this..." He offered, his head tilting towards the youma that was beside Leucite. "... and this happen?"

"Not too long ago... Maybe a week?" He said, nodding to Iudicael as well. "That one decided to mangle the ever living crap outta my arm though." He made a face, pulling the sleeve of his uniform down to show the bandage of the still healing bite. "It's got a damn good grip." "So how have you been? I haven't seen you since..." Since the interrogation where I was completely out of line and you didn't call me out on it... Where do we stand Amethyst..."... the interrogation of that one senshi." He finally allowed himself to finish.

"And getting a personal youma was your first assignment?" Amethyst lifted a brow, concern crossing his features now at the sight of the bandage around Leucite's arm. "Do you want me to take a look at that? It's not infected with youma virus or anything right?" He wasn't surprised that Leucite had beaten him to this really. It was exactly the sort of thing that he would expect the Spec-Ops Captain to do as soon as he had the clearance for it. At the rate that Leucite was going, it probably wouldn't be long till he got promoted to General.
"I'm good. Business as usual with work and energy quotas to fulfil." He paled a little at the memory of the interrogation that Leucite had asked him to sit in a few months back, closing the distance between them as he averted his gaze to focus on the other male's injured arm.

"Pretty much, yeah," Leucite said with a small, quiet chuckle. "If you want," Leucite said, holding his arm out for the other captain to inspect. "I mean, I didn't go in alone so, I got taken care of pretty well I think." He hadn't even gone home, had crashed on the other officer's couch. It'd been alright. "... Amethyst, where do we stand?" He finally broached the subject. "And don't try to skirt the subject... I was out of line the last time we worked together and you didn't call me out... You were well in your right to you had seniority... What the hell man, where do we stand it's killing me not knowing..."

"You guys in Spec-Ops seem to have it rough. So how're you finding the personal youma ownership experience so far? Does it need to be fed? Or bathed even?" Amethyst joked, trying to keep the mood lighthearted between them as he worked on removing the bandages on Leucite's arm to gingerly prod at the wound with a gloved finger to check for any signs of infection. "Yeah. Considering that this is one week old and hasn't turned gangrenous or started festering. Anyway, you know my number if any complications come up."
Removing a roll of bandages and a pack of alcohol swabs from his waist pouch, he carefully cleaned the wound first with the swab sticks then began to wrap the bandages around the other Captain's arm. "You're a friend to me before an officer Leucite. I don't see why I should bust your a** over something as trivial as that incident. That is all." He replied finally after letting a minute of silence pass on the pretext of attending to Leucite's injury, still keeping his gaze averted as he tightened the knot on the bandage to keep it secured before taking a step back.
"... do you know what happened to that senshi eventually?"

"Just starseeds and energy - but no, it doesn't need a bath." Leucite said with a small chuckle as Amethyst checked his injuries. Once he got the greenlight he nodded his head. Once the wound was taken care of and Amethyst asked his question Leucite sighed. "That's... a dangerous stance to take Amethyst - one I appreciate, but a fair warning, it might get you in more trouble than it's worth. If we're in a situation like that again - bust my chops if you have to, I won't take it personally I promise. Work is work..." Speaking of. "I'm not sure, but I'm fairly certain she's dead. She wasn't very useful..." Leucite had been off duty when the rescue attempt had occurred - now he kind of wished he hadn't. He'd of had a better answer then.

"Sounds like a cat minus the litter box." Amethyst remarked, just stopping short of asking if Ludicael smelled since that would be taking the personal pet analogy a little too far. Youmas were way more than an animal. That much he could still remember from the mandatory induction programme that all newly corrupted Negaverse officers had to sit through. Drop your guard around a select few and that might prove to be your own un-doing.
"You know how I'm like. I'll keep what you've said in mind but we'll see how things go if we ever get into that kinda of situation again." He gave a sigh at Leucite's words, beginning to look somewhat sombre now at the realisation that the senshi whom they had been put in charge of interrogating was very possibly dead. "... I see." He looked up then, a look of anguish crossing his face now.
"We could... We should have called in one of the General-Kings. We could have saved her. No one has to die."

"Stop, right now." Leucite said firmly, reaching out and placing a hand on Amethyst's shoulder. "You don't know that for sure - she could have been killed trying to escape. Or by one of her old friends. We're in a war for f---'s sake Amethyst. People Die." He grit his teeth. He knew Amethyst was a bleeding heart. The man was a doctor. He wasn't cut out for this. For the harsh reality that they had to face. "Do you know how many people I've killed - Amethyst? It's a really good question because I don't even remember anymore. I track down drug dealers and I yank their seeds. I track down senshi and knights and if I get lucky I'd do the same if I can't convince them to join us." "People will die. Have to die." He gave the man's shoulder a squeeze. "Our mission is a righteous one - you have to remember that. We are protecting earth. Sometimes a life must be sacrificed for the greater good."

Amethyst fell silent when Leucite told him firmly to stop with a hand on his shoulder. "I know that." He didn't quite understand himself either. For someone who worked in the hospital and dealt with the life and death of patients on a daily basis, he shouldn't be fazed over the deaths of the senshis and knights who also were their enemies.
"You are strong Leucite. But I'm nowhere like you.." He looked at him mournfully. "I can't kill someone. Even if it is for a greater good. I don't know why but I just can't..." Heaven forbid if he ever found himself in a situation in which he had to sacrifice one of their enemies in order to save his own skin.
