Rider
Name: Ralla
Age: 31
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Rank: Warden
History:
Ralla was Holdborn, the youngest of three daughters, and was a malcontent from childhood on. She wanted nothing to do with dresses and ribbons, and later, nothing to do with marriage and children. So when she was searched at 15, she jumped at the chance to leave her cothold behind and be a dragonrider. She did not Impress right away, which was a source of deep frustration for her; she is driven to succeed at all costs, and it was difficult for her to wait to Impress. Try as you might, it's not something she can make happen - it either will or it won't. Fortunately, for Ralla, it did.

Too focused - and difficult to get along with - Ralla made no friends among her fellow Weyrlings, only rivals, and resented that the world saw her and Firith as 'just' green and greenrider, that their true potential wouuld never be realized. The Revolution came when they were Senior Weyrlings, and they seized the opportunity to carve a new future for themselves, turning against their clutchmates and teachers and helping to take Malvren for the cause. Competitive and bolstered by the fearlessness of youth, they thrived in the often violent environment of the Wherholds. They became Wardens, and involved themselves at every opportunity: the theft of Suunath's eggs, the assassination attempt on Wingleader Kleos, and the fight over Iachixth among them. They both earned their fair share of scars, and gave at least as many.

Still, though they flourished under Keller's system, they held no particular love for Keller himself, privately disagreeing with some of his decisions and tactics. They decided that the best way to fix these problems was to begin working their way through the ranks; they believed that if they could get on the Council, they could influence strategies and make a difference. Before those plans could come become anything more than plans, Keller poisoned Sharath and set the Wherwars in motion. Throughout the wars, Ralla and Firith remained loyal to the Wherholds, fighting for the side they had chosen despite being disillusioned about its leader. Eventually, they would join the coup that formed to overthrow him, but when the battle was over, they disappeared, unwilling to return to a system that expected them to bow to golds and bronzes at the expense of their own potential.

Later, after living Holdless for some time, they learned that the Weyrs had changed to favor equality, and went to Trine in hopes of finding a place there. From the beginning, she has made no effort to hide or deny her previous affiliation, nor does she make excuses or apologies for her actions. It is sometimes a source of conflict, but for the most part, Ralla has learned to shrug it off (though if someone hits the wrong nerve or throws a punch, she is less inclined to let it slide).

Description:
Ralla is of average height, about 5'4", with dark brown eyes and brown hair she has recently cropped short. Her facial features are sharp, and her figure is thin with only a hint of curves.

Personality:
Ralla isn't deliberately unfeminine, she just doesn't have the sharding time for putting effort into something as superficial as her appearance. She has more important things to do, things that might actually get her somewhere, and doesn't see the point in prettying up. While she may be prevailed upon to do so for special occasions, she doesn't particularly like those, either. Relaxing is simply not in her vocabulary, and the only time she's comfortable being still is when it's time to sleep...although if she could, she'd probably go without.

She is ambitious, tenacious, and dead-set on doing whatever she puts her mind to. Ralla doesn't know how to give up, and will throw herself at a task repeatedly, from whatever angle necessary, until she's accomplished it. 'Good enough' is never good enough for her, and if allowed to, she'll do something over again until it's better and she's satisfied. Unfortunately, she has no concept of her own limitations, and can push herself too hard, to the point of exhaustion and beyond.

Challenges play well to her personality, whether physical or mental, and she can't resist. Challenge her to any kind of contest, and she'll almost certainly take you up on it, be it climbing or drinking or anything else you can think up, unless it's very obviously a bad idea, or something that could get her in really serious trouble. If there's a risk to her Candidacy or her ability to Stand, she won't do it. Otherwise, it's fair game, and no other punishments are enough to give her pause. Extra chores? Come on, she likes working!

If you tell her she can't do something, she will not only question it, but attempt to do it if at all possible (within some reason - if the risk far outweighs the reward in her estimation, she's smart enough not to take the gamble). Ralla's difficulty backing down does mean that she can be provoked into fighting; she's unlikely to start the fight, but she will definitely finish it if she has to. With time and experience, she has gained the wisdom to choose her battles, at least to a point. She recognizes that some fights just aren't worth it, but if someone really tweaks a nerve, wisdom goes out the window.

In general, Ralla doesn't expect others to have her motivation, or to work as hard as she does, as she feels that she is exceptional. Her opinion is that people who aren't as good as she is make her look better in comparison, unless she is somehow made to feel responsible for them by being teamed up with them. Then they become a reflection on her, and she has no more tolerance for less than the best in them than she does in herself. She will harp on and push them until they work to her standards, or at the very least make an obvious effort to do so. She really doesn't care whether or not she's liked - work is life, and advancing in life is all that matters. She can be over-harsh in her criticism, leading her to hurt feelings and alienate others.

Other: I need to do a solo for her rank, I know, but I wanted to make sure everything else was square first.

Dragon
Name: Firith
Age: 13
Colour: Green
Description: x
Size: Below Average
Build: Slim

Personality:
Firith is the very definition of spitfire. Quick-tempered and generally combative, Firith does not make friends easily. The ones she manages to make in spite of her temperament, though, she is fiercely protective of. If they are in trouble, or she perceives that someone is treating them poorly, Firith will challenge that person or do whatever necessary to protect them. Her loyalty is unwavering, so long as the other dragon does nothing to betray Firith or her rider. After all, she expects the same kind of loyalty in return, although she obviously doesn't need someone to protect her. She manages just fine on her own, in that regard, thank you.

To Firith, everything is a competition and a chance for her to excel. For a Green, her focus is impressive and she will apply her boundless energy to the task so that she can come out on top. This mindset will lead Firith to overcome odds that might usually crush a lesser Green, so it is likely she may, in fact, beat out all other Greens for first place, or maybe even higher colors, depending on the task. However, this single-minded determination and focus also means that Firith will push herself beyond her own means. Her rider will have to keep a close eye on her to make sure she doesn't injure herself. That warning goes double for the dragon during Threadfall, as Firith will be so focused on charring Thread and her flying that she could overextend herself and place herself and her rider at risk.

Firith's small size and slim build make her excellent for aerial maneuvers, but it unfortunately also means that her stamina is not generally up to standard Green par-- something she hates being told and refuses to believe. She will require her rider to work with her twice as much as any other Weyrling pair in an attempt to raise her stamina and prove to everyone that there is nothing "lesser" about her. The extra practice may help somewhat, but Firith's stamina will never surpass the average for Greens, which will leave her energy coming from sheer willpower and stubborness.

Other:
Firith sensed Ralla's kindred spirit almost before the girl touched her thin-shelled egg. Challenge-loving, risk taking, unwilling to back down: these descriptions match both Firith and Ralla to a T. That Ralla also didn't give a damn about appearances was a huge plus in Firith's book, as this Green is not interested in other people thinking of her as being something she isn't just because she "looks" that way to them. Ralla can appreciate Firith's strength and capabilities, and that's that.

Ralla is also a rider who will work with Firith's competitive attitude and drive to go harder, work longer, and do better than everyone else, rather than working against it. It helps that Ralla doesn't stop until she has to sleep, since Firith will be expecting so much from rider and from herself when it comes to training for long hours to literally be the best. Although there may be some trouble when it comes to Firith pushing so hard she might injure herself, hopefully Ralla and Firith will learn how to stop when it's time -- and lean on each other afterward when they can't. Those challenges that Ralla is always taking on, especially the ones that get her in trouble, will always be backed up by Firith, come good or bad. You can do it, mine. We will show them not to take us so lightly! This is definitely a pair that will stir up trouble from Weyrling lessons to Wingriding-- but force you to grudgingly appreciate their skill and fortitude while they're doing it.

All of that said, the clincher was that Ralla thinks no one is as exceptional as her-- well, Firith feels the same way. With the two of them as a pair, no one else stands a chance.

Solo:
I hate the Southern Continent. Ralla wiped the sweat from her brow, cursing her decision to wear her riding leathers. She probably could have gotten away with not wearing them, since inspecting an arriving Trader caravan didn't involve doing any actual riding, but as recent arrivals working to prove themselves to their new home after a history of working against it, Ralla had to concede that appearances were of some importance for once.

You say that at least once a day.

It's true every time.

Not to interrupt your complaining- oh, sorry, your strategic assessment of the conditions, but we do have a job to do.

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, the Warden regarded the assembled group of Traders, arriving in time for a Gather. Most were dressed for the heat, but one standing at the edge of the group had pulled up his hood, and stood facing his wher rather than her. That seem a little suspicious to you? Get ready, that wher looks like a bruiser.

We've fought bigger, Firith asserted, but subtly shifted her position.

"Hey, Handler - little hot, isn't it?" Though she smiled, there was no warmth in the expression. "Lower your hood, if you please."

The bronzehandler hesitated a little too long before doing as asked, but when he finally did, Ralla's cold smile widened into a grin, and feigned relief warmed her voice. "Agrin! Never thought I'd see you again. How'd you end up down here on this sorry excuse for a continent?"

While the old handler struggled visibly with how to react to her recognition but apparent friendliness, Ralla inclined her head toward a nearby supply shed. "I think we've got some catching up to do, if your friends don't mind."

"I...yeh, we could do that," Agrin finally answered, wary but aware that his options were few, and this was a former ally. In enemy territory, he could use whatever help he could get. The next person who recognized him might not be as glad to see him.

As she turned and led the way, Ralla sent to Firith, Once we're inside, kill the wher. We only need him.
