Alrighty then, I'm antiparticle (shorten that any way you want to). I'm 17 years old and I'm a junior in high school.
I love reading (obviously)! I prefer fiction, rather than nonfiction (though I'm terribly fond of Generation Kill by Evan Wright and its accompanying tv miniseries). I like fantasy, sci-fi, and YA books. I like dystopia and supernatural books too. Oh, and steampunk. . . I basically like books as far as they can be removed from reality. I'm not fond of books that take place in modern times (I'm all for historical fiction though).
Besides reading, I love listening to music and watching films and tv shows. My other hobbies include relentlessly mocking my friends and torturing them with puns. ;]

Could you recommend me a Steampunk book? I read two a while back and they were terrible. I love the steampunk world, fashion, and it's ideas. I think it was the writing and how the author dealt with the events that made me hate it. :c I know what you mean about, "I basically like books as far as they can be removed from reality. I'm not fond of books that take place in modern times". YES. I tell my friends the same thing and they look at me funny. Isn't that the whole point of books? To remove you from this world and dive into another. Experience a new life and new people? Finally someone who gets me!

Well then, I'll try my best to steer you onto the right path. emotion_dowant I highly recommended the Leviathan Trilogy by Scott Westerfield. It's set during an alternative version of WWI. The scientific elements are absolutely fascinating. I don't want to elaborate too much, in case of spoiling it all. Buuuut, here's the official brief summary of the series: "Prince Aleksander, would-be heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is on the run. His own people have turned on him. His title is worthless. All he has is a battletorn war machine and a loyal crew of men.
Deryn Sharp is a commoner, disguised as a boy in the British Air Service. She’s a brilliant airman. But her secret is in constant danger of being discovered.
With World War I brewing, Alek and Deryn’s paths cross in the most unexpected ways, taking them on a fantastical, around-the-world adventure that will change both their lives forever." You might think that it's going to lead to the common young-adult romance, but it doesn't really, more as an aside in the latter part of the series. I love young-adult books that focus more on the action than the romance.
Ahh, precisely! Books are about expanding your horizons into new worlds--not just sticking in one world. That's what I love about fantasy and science fiction and other genres. It introduces a wide variety of worlds and experiences.
