Nadia paced around the current herd's home. The herd was her parents, Istas, Claude her brother Lafayette and his 3 baskets. The mother had passed away just after the birth of the 3rd foal and so the herd seemed to be in mourning. Even Nadia found herself feeling a bit sad. Her brother was stupid enough to fall for mare with Kalona blood... A mare who's mother had turned into a skin walker. This put the whole herd at risk. But her stupid brother had been able to quell whatever bad blood the mare carried because she was tender toward him and was truly excited to start this family. But now she was dead.
Her brother had become useless in his mourning. Her parents spent much of their time making sure he didn't pass on himself from a broken heart. So they themselves have been run ragged trying to ease his pain. But only time would really tell if he was capable of moving passed this and the stallion was strong enough.
That left herself to watch the baskets. They stayed motionless most of the time, a few noises escaped here and there. Her eyes glanced back and forth was she patrolled the camp. The fear that the mother possessed was that the foals grandmother would come for them and steal them away. Nadia would died before she let that happen. It wasn't exactly that she felt emotion for the foals... It was her duty as a knight and even more so the duty to protect her family.
Loosing even one of those foals would destroy her brother. She owed everything she was to him. When her father refused to train her because she was a filly, Lafayette took it upon himself to show her what he learned. So this task she could do. She paced around sending her senses out.
Her ear twitched in the direction of a presence and her head turned to the direction before the twig snapped. After a moment, the result was a bear searching for berries. Maybe she was just on edge but something felt off today. Nadia knew that something was coming, her pelt pricked and she knew that something was The Grandmother. The hideous beast that would try and taint the blood of those foals. The idea made Nadia smolder with anger, it caused her body to reach it's peak. She could sense what was drawing near, her muscles surged with energy that she would use to keep the monster at bay. She had to fight with the strength and skill of the entire herd for they were not able to help. If Lafa tried, his emotions would cloud his view and he would fall to their enemy.
