THE FORTRESS' LIBRARY
feat. La'gann

Today you find yourself in the library. Are you here because you love books and the library is your
home away form home? Or did you get sent here to search for a specific book by someone? For
whatever reason that you have come, the largest library in the Celestial Plane looms before you. Its
warm dark brown pillars hold up an enormous peaked roof. The large double doors of a light red
brown wood are inlaid with pale wooden designs of the many elements and dragons on Magesc.
Opening the doors, you see before you rows and rows of shelves, stashed full of books. Looking up,
you can see that the room is encircled with many balconies, all full of book shelves. Light falls from
windows in the roof, causing the dust motes to glow golden in their path. A hushed silence fills the
room, though you can hear the far off steps of someone as they wander the library. You can see no
one else in the library other than a thin older woman at a large desk to your right.

As you wander the shelves, looking for what you came here for or looking for something interesting,
a cold breeze blows across you neck. Turning about, you see only the golden brown shelves and
rows of books.. and one small side table with a stack of scrolls and loose papers at the end of the
hallway of books. Amid the loose papers, you spot some ice... and it isn't melting even though this
room is warm enough that ice shouldn't be able to last. If you approach and look at the strange
sheet of paper, you see that it is a map with its edges encrusted with ice. The map it self is cold to
the touch, and the ice won't melt no matter what you do.

You may hide it and sneak out of the library, or ask the librarian who is at the front desk if you can
take it. Should you ask, the older woman will pullout her glasses and examine the map before
proclaiming it fool hardy to seek out what this map offers since that is on Aisko and only fools go to
that cold blighted land...

La'gann lets out a soft huff of disappointment when they finally reach their destination; having opened the large doors leading to the Celestial Libraries with a hope of finding their guardian, Rohiryon, sitting among the books when- in fact- that was not the case. The library was empty, save for the woman that was left to tend to those that wished to borrow and return the mass of books and various scrolls that filled the endless amount of shelves. La'gann did not know the Dovaa woman's name, only that she didn't belong to the Sect and rarely looked up from whatever novel it was she chose to read. La'gann doubted very much that she'd be able to help them with their search. The woman, after all, was quite oblivious to her surroundings while entrapped within the written words before her. Rohiryon might've applauded her dedication, but La'gann could only harrumph at it. By nature, La'gann was quite the observant little thing. They could hardly even imagine being any other way and felt only a mild disgust for those less watchful than they. How many books had slipped past her, in all the years that she'd been charged with watching them? How many words were stolen by the sticky fingers of greedy visitors, all because she couldn't bother to look up?

Realizing they had been staring- and frowning- for quite some time at the woman of whom had not even noticed their presence within the building, La'gann quickly turned away from her. They had other things to do, after all, rather than sit and brood about a woman they knew nothing about. Rohiryon was somewhere in the fortress, and it was Rohiryon that La'gann wanted to find. It was nearly lunchtime and the old Dovaa had promised La'gann a trip to the Astral City. Having not left the Fortress in ages (possibly an entire week!), La'gann was vibrating at the opportunity to see what the marketplaces had in store. As the young apprentice is turning to leave, however, something out of the ordinary catches their eye.

The youth's lips part in a momentary sense of awe and, quickly, they scurry over to one of the many ornate tables filling the center of the library, where a a pile of scrolls and books spread across its surface lay in wait. Obviously, the items had all been taken from the shelves and left by a visiting patron; a couple scrolls were still unraveled, revealing their contents- though the language was one La'gann did not recognize; and this only proved to heighten their overall curiosity... though it was not the scrolls that had initially piqued the Dovaa's interest. Instead, it was a piece of ice-lined parchment; half-hidden underneath a particularly heavy book. Mysteriously, despite the warmth of the room, the ice seemed to be completely undisturbed. La'gann reached out to touch the parchment's edge, as though proving to themself that it was truly real. Then, without hesitation, they push the book aside and grab the ice-dusted item; discovering, upon closer inspection, that it was- in fact- a map! Glancing at the librarian to make sure she was still enveloped in her book (which, of course, she was), La'gann stows the map within their clothes; eager to spot the rest of the details it would surely reveal, though worried that whomever was its owner may return looking for it. Maybe Rohiryon could tell them more, if they were to show him the map?

La'gann leaves the library at a quick pace, quietly thankful for the librarian's ignorance despite having scorned it only moments before. Now, if only they could find that blasted Rohiryon!
