One of the fae that followeed seemed to consist entirely out of shadows. Dressed in a white lab coat that seemed to be smudged with fingerprints, he paused, straightened, and nodded his head.

"Varian." he purred.

The other was a woman. A Woman, with curves that seemed to threaten to pull the coat apart, and long hair made out of snakes. Except... somethign was wrong with her skin. Shadows chased across the surface, like...

well. It wasn't good to think about it.

What the-- the jar is filled with light. Literally. It is hard to explain really. It's bright, hard to look at but also so incredibly warm... just what was the fae before? And why the hell a cracked mirror?

No matter.

Try to stick an object inside the jar, and you'll come across something wet, thick. The way mercury might feel, should you have the nerve to touch it.

Five days had passed since Aletea had met Shy. The day was a remarkably pretty, calm, with enough golden light to make napping sound like heaven.

During the lazy afternoon, a crash is heard from the jar's 'room'. Rushing up to investigate the cause of the crash, Aletea will find a ... kid. Blonde haired, blue eyed and completely naked, the kid turns it's back on you with a scowl.

There were pieces of glass everywhere.

The lights were catching in them, reflecting colors onto the walls in an almost mystical manner, and seeming somehow to be awe-inspiring. Even with the mess she knew she would have to clean up, Aletea couldn't help but feel that it was an amazingly beautiful sight. But even that couldn't compare to what sat in the central point of it all, the glass spiraled out as if it had simply exploded away from the figure.

A small...girl? It was difficult to tell, but as the child had beautiful long hair and somewhat feminine features, she decided to go with female. A cascade of hair swept down from her shoulders, and sparkling blue eyes were filled with light.

The expression of wonder as she gazed down at the glass simply added to the beauty that surrounded her - and that all disappeared the moment she noticed that she was no longer alone.

Almost instantly, the childs nose went up in the air and she seemed to lose any of that former wonder. Instead, she assumed an arrogant position and simply announced her wishes in a tone so pompous and regal that Aletea could just feel her eyebrow twitching.

"Pick up the glass, it's too messy."

Of course, the child had been enjoying the sight mere moments before - but no longer, apparently. Her eyes narrowing in irritation, Aletea carefully scooped the glass away with her shoe to create a pathway to the child. And upon reaching her, she delivered a single statement.

"Don't take that tone with me, young lady."

"LADY? I'm a boy, thank you very much!" The expression on the newly designated male childs face was certainly a comical one. His rosebud mouth open with indignation, hackles raised and an affronted look in his eyes...it was a strangely adorable picture.

And so it went on in this vein for a while as Aletea gathered a broom to sweep up glass, and the little boy began to (of all things) critique the decor of the room.

Really, since when did children care if a rug on the floor matched the afghan on the couch? They were even the same color! But the little boy still felt the need to nitpick about the fact that one had tassels and the other didn't. Feh...

And watching him as he waited for lunch at the table, the little boy she knew was called Varian, he seemed to be acting like he was the king of the household. Already she wondered how she was going to be able to put up with this kid, and if he even tried nit-picking about her food...well, she wouldn't put up with it.

Yet surprisingly, Varian ate without complaint; he even complimented her on it, seeming to lose some of his arrogance. It was after lunch that the troubles began again, seeming a sudden switch from his pleasant company at the table.

"This is my room? Since when did linen closets qualify as bedrooms?"

To be fair, the room was a bit on the small side. There was plenty of room, however! Certainly enough for a boy as small as Varian, and her patience with his haughty tone was drawing very thin.

"Look, kid- you live here. This is your room. If it's too small for you - deal with it."

Not the best approach, but Aletea'd had enough. Expecting another complaint, she steeled her will and looked back down at him - and felt her plan stop in that moment.

Those sapphire gems masquerading as eyes were welling up with tears, and a decidedly hurt expression had appeared on his face. It wiped away that arrogance as if it had never been there in the first place, and he looked more like a neglected child then anything else.

"Hey, uh...I'll see about getting you a bigger room. Just stick with this one for a little while, alright?"

Instantaneously the tears cleared up, and an pleased look crossed his face. And with a haughty tone, he informed her that this plan would work just fine. While Aletea stood there with a dumbfounded expression on her face, he flounced down the hallway. And as she could hear his snipes about her decorating skills trail around the house, she couldn't prevent a single thought from meeting her lips.

"...I was just duped by a kid who needs Valium. Fantastic."
