Please make sure to read through this guide
if you hold or intend to hold rank within Dragonfight: An Alternative Pern.
Policies regarding ranking characters have changed significantly.

Activity Checks
    > Activity is defined as at least 45 IC posts by the character in question over a 3-month IRL period.
    > Solos (self-RPs) count towards the requirements a rate of 250 word equals 1 post. A Solo can be as long or as short as a player wants. (A 750 word solo would equate to 3 posts and a 2500 word solo as 10 posts.)
    > Activity will be checked every 3 months and will consist of a form to be PM'd to the mule for review by a deadline. Usually the last day of the month in question.
    > Failure to meet activity requirements will result in the loss of rank by the specific character and an NPC or other PC will be named.
    > No other PC requirements need to be met to maintain a rank.
    > Activity requirements are the same for ALL ranks.

    > High Ranks will only become available through shop events and/or through a character losing a Rank due to inactivity.
    > Mid Ranks are available whenever a player feels the character would ICly pursue the rank and can be requested through this thread.

What are each of the ranks responsible for?

Wingrider
ALL dragonpairs, once they reach adulthood, are assigned to a Wing in which they combat thread or police the skies. Wings are listed here. All duties required of ranks are in additional to that of a Wingrider's regular duties. No Wingrider is required to gain rank beyond that of this default rank.

Watch Dragons
Watch dragons are responsible for keeping watch for Thread. They are posted to various locations within the Weyr itself as well as throughout the territory. They rotate through posts on a regular basis.

Search
Search dragons are charistmatic and intuitive individuals are are sent out to interact with the general public. They identify and transport potential riders to the Weyr for Candidacy.

Warden
Wardens are guardsmen. They safeguard critical resource points, escort caravans, and conduct inspects of foreign dignitaries, traders, and riders. They are also trained in first response skills like emergency first aid and disaster response. They are much like firemen, policemen, or paramedics.

Courier
Couriers are swift, agile individuals who carry messages between Weyrs and Holds and other such places. They must be highly skilled in Betweening and are often the face of the Weyrs along with Search dragons.

Assistant Master
Assistant Masters are riders who support the Candidate and Weyrling masters in the training, care, and moderation of the Candidates and Weyrlings. Because of the influx of both, a greater number of mentors are required. CandidateMasters and Weyrlingmasters are nominated by and voted for by the people. Their Assistants are chosen by the elected Masters.

Wingsecond
Wingseconds are the second-in-command of a wing. Their duties are frequently administrative in nature and they are often the ones to met out punishment for errant Wingriders. They support the day-to-day tasks of the Wingleader. Wingseconds are also present during political meetings and can serve in a diplomat role. WIngseconds are chosen by the specific wing's Wingleader.

Wingleader
Wingleaders are those who command a Wing. They are experienced with leadership, mentorship, and have a talent for tactical choices. Their primary duty is to manage a Wing during threadfall and then follow up when the wing rests to ensure that their Wing is getting the attention they need for recovery. Wingleaders are also present during political meetings. Wingleaders are chosen by the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader.

Jr. Weyrleader/Weyrwoman
Junior Weyrleaders and Weyrwomen are the personal assistants and communications officers for the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman. They accompany the leaders to conferences, assist with administrative tasks, and generally felt organize and filter the volumes of information being fed to the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman. These positions are elected by the general populace.

Weyrwoman/Weyrleader
The Weyrwoman and the Weyrleader are the political leaders of the Weyr. They are responsible for coordinating everything from tithes and supplies management to meting out punishments and attending global conferences. It is to them that the final word falls and their word is law, unless a vote of all the Wingseconds and Wingleaders finds them unworthy of the position. These positions are nominated by the Wingleaders, Wingseconds, Masters, and Assistant Masters of the Weyr. The people vote for their choice and the two individuals with the highest number of votes are elected. Weyrwoman/Weyrleaders can be hetero male, hetero female, trans, or queer as the rank is only a title.
