(Viru is being RPd has a foal) The young foal twitch her ears as the wind rustle the leaves. She had gone off exploring into the woods near her lake home. Being as frightened of water as she was, she chose to go the farthest she could from it. This meant she was deep into the trees and not paying much attention to the shadows creeping up as the sun set. Her curious little eyes were too busy enjoying the different plants that grew here. Virulent smiled happily as she spotted yet another new flower. She hopped over to it and sniffed at it. Flowers like these didn't grow in the clearing by her home.

The stallion couldn't help it. For one, he blended perfectly with the shadows, as dark as he was. He couldn't help but enjoy the cover of the forest for this reason and often will spend time here. For a perhaps more important reason, he really couldn't help but step quietly further back into the shadows at the sight of his granddaughter playing among the flowers. The sun came streaming down in spots and streaks between the leaves overhead and seemed to dance with the filly as she moved, blending with the spots on her own body. It was hard to tell what about her was sunlight and what her natural coloring. She herself was more shadows than soquili, much as he was and he couldn't help but enjoy watching her.
Still, he also wanted to join in so he stepped carefully out of the shadows so as not to scare the young filly. "That's a beautiful flower there," he said, his deep voice almost booming in the relative tranquility of the woods around them, despite his attempts to speak softly.

The sound noise of someone talking startled the young one causing her to jump slightly. Unfortunately she landed nose first onto the forest floor effectively crushing the flower she had just been smelling. Pouting, Virulent stood back up and sniffled at the new person who encroached on her and her exploring. Dirt had gotten into her eyes, so it looked as though she were about to burst out into tears. She kept quiet as she just looked at him another sniffling coming out. He looked vaguely familiar to her but she could not quite figure out why, even as she looked directly into eyes that looked just like her own.

He couldn't blame her for not knowing who he was. This was, after all, their first meeting, though he knew full well who she was. He had enough awareness of his bloodline to at least be able to recognize it when he saw it. She couldn't hide it if she'd wanted to - he knew the pattern of his son like the back of his hoof. She had the colors of his son's mate but she had his own eyes. Soft, light pools. It made him happy to see this bit of himself in her. He was full of regret that he's neglected his sons of late. He made a mental note to catch up with them soon.
He noticed her unhappy look and quickly glanced around, located another lovely bloom - one that was high above her young head. He plucked it and deftly offered it to her with a flourish, saying between his clenched teeth "Here, milady." His eyes gleamed in a bright smile.

Seeing the new flower made her forget all about what had just happened. "For me?" the little one gushed as she accepted the flower from her elder. This one was more or a purple pink color than the other one which had been yellow. The new flower seemed to match the coloring of the gift giver. Gently she laid it down and sniffed it. There was a very light aroma that was very pleasant. Virulent smiled up at the stallion and asked the first thing that she had thought about upon seeing him. "Do I know you?" She was very blunt and tactless even though it was just an innocent question. Her lovely pale eyes just filled with quizzical curiosity as she awaited his response.

His smile was a slow thing that began with the turning up of his lips and the baring of his teeth and then the crinkling of his eyes that sparkled with amusement at her question. A laugh escaped, a deep and loud laugh that shook the stallion's entire frame. He beamed down on the small filly once he'd regained himself. "In a way, my child, I suppose you do. Though I would say you know my son much better - he is your father!" He wondered if she would understand the concept of the shared blood between them. She seemed a sharp filly, and certainly not one afraid to speak her mind. "What do you think of that?

The loud laugh he let out shook her as well which caused her to giggle with glee. It took a moment for his words to echo through her own delighted giggles and when it did, boy could you tell. Her jaw went slack for a split second before she started to pounce around him in a circle. Her excitement almost a physical entity in and of itself. "If your son is my daddy, that makes you his daddy, which makes you my poppaw~! Where you coming to see me when we bumped into each other? Why haven't I meet you before? Of course I had about you but..." she went on and on a mile a minute repeating the same questions just with a different phrasing. Her face was getting pretty flush from not catching her breath between questions and the fact that she was still bounding around him like a happy little fool.

He watched her pacing around him and listened to her persistent and repeating questions with the patience of one who had raised children before. He let her tired herself out a bit before he replied finally, "Actually I WAS looking for you! I had heard whispers on the breeze that a new princess had been born and wanted to come see for myself." He had a twinkle of mischief in his eye as he looked at her and with another flourish of exaggerated grandeur he bowed low before her. "Princess! I am but here to serve!"

It was taking her a moment to catch her breath after she finally stopped. She took a few deep gulps of air and started to breathe normally after that. Really, she had gotten too good at getting her breathing under control. The little filly squeaked in delight at his response to her questions, and the fact that he called her princess! Viru started to giggle as she returned his bow with an incline of her head. "Is that so?" She got out between her giggles, "and how will you serve me today?" This was the most fun she'd had in a while and it was with her poppaw! The small one could not be happier with how this day was turning out.

His suddenly took on a serious expression and his voice a tone of solemnity as he said "What do you require of me, my Lady?" He remained crouched on bent knees before her, raising his head in regal pride. His smile never completely went, though, as it remained there twinkling in his eyes. He enjoyed his little princess already and the joy she exuded. "Shall we go fight monsters?" He gave her a lopsided grin. "Or go find someone to duel?"

Immediately her mind shifted through all the things she had always wanted to do but knew she would get in a lot of trouble if she tried to do them on her own. The one that sprang to the forefront of her mind was to go on a real adventure instead of just exploring her home's perimeter. She had really always wanted to see what people called mountains, and snow! Oh definitely she wanted to find out what snow was! Samnie never let her go far from the lake and she was already almost to that point. If she went with her Poppaw though, she would not get into as much trouble. Her grin got bigger and brighter if possible which made the specks on her checks seem to almost pop right off her face with their own glow. "Can we go on a scavenger hunt?" She would not tell him what she wanted to look for yet, she wanted to see if he wanted to do it first. The exciting energy zipping through her was almost palatable and probably eluded to the fact she wanted more then a mere scavenger hunt.

He beamed down at her in her excitement. What a charming little filly! He couldn't help but admire her cleverness and joy. He swelled with pride at this diminutive piece of his own blood. "A scavenger hunt, you say? Well I think we can perhaps try that. What is first on the list?" He had only just met the little girl but he already felt as though he would deny her nothing she asked for. Provided, of course, that it was safe. He would protect her like the little girl he never had - or at least hadn't had yet. There was still time - he wasn't so old yet! He made a mental note to introduce his little granddaughter to his mate, Lynesse. The two might get along splendidly.

Her own grin had yet to fall off her face and better still, seemed like it would pop right off at his agreeing to her request. "First thing will want to find might be hard!" She exclaimed excitedly. "I've only ever heard the faintest whispers of this thing myself." The young mare was trying to drum it up and make it seem more mysterious than it more then likely was. To emphasis this little plan of hers, she started to pace back and forth in front of him. "It might just be a little bit of a ways away from here, but that is ok right?" She paused mid-step to turn big doe eyes onto him. It was taking all her will to not start pouncing around happily again. This was definitely the most fun she had ever had, and the best part was yet to come!

He watched her pacing patiently, allowing her to talk to her heart's content. He was enraptured with her innocence and playfulness, the indomitable spirit of youth. It made him miss when his own children were young like this. He thought about Lynesse then, the image of her round with child coming to him unbidden and filling his heart with joy. He hoped that would come to pass soon. She would be a lovely mother.
"We'll go where you want to go," he replied sweetly, assuming her childlike idea of "a ways away" was not so far in adult terms. "What do we need to get, my princess?"

Little Virulent did a small happy dance in place before she cleared her throat and gained a mockery of composer. "It's very cold, or so I have heard, and often found most easily up on a high peak." She frowned at that word. Hopefully her Poppaw would know what a peak was because she had not the faintest of ideas. "It is very bright and a shiny white!" A small giggle escaped her. Boy was she enjoying rolling this one answer out into a riddle.
The foal took in a deep breath and finally said what the actual item was called. "I have heard it called, SNOW!" The last word came out as a half shot her excitement bubbling over.
