Weeks had passed, and Vyren felt as though his whole life was shattered. He was in love with Lithian, totally and completely. He felt betrayed to say the least. Lithian had feelings for another man, and even though their love was short lived, it was love nevertheless.
“I will pray that you find happiness, Vyren, because I want you to and you deserve love so much better than what I can give you…and you will make someone so happy…”
Those words replayed in the Firani's mind over and over again. Watching him walk out of the house in that way.
“When you find that…and when, or if you ever find yourself in a position to forgive the injustices I have done you…I should like to see you again.”
Those words, too, dug deep. See him again? At this point Vyren wanted nothing more than to never see him again. Being hurt, the Firani didn't take well to rejection. He needed a way out. And he was so happy to be going on a trip with Lazarus to ease the pain of losing someone he thought was so close to him.
"...you will make someone so happy...”
~~~~~
A few weeks earlier...
"Vye...are...are you okay?" the Peisio asked, coming out of the bedroom slowly, meekly, curiously.
Vyren sat upon the couch, dazed and confused it seemed. Emotions high. Anger dissipated into confusion. What just happened? Lithian had broken up with him.
"Vyren?"
"I...I don't even know. I...just can't believe it." he spoke softly.
Lazarus took a seat next to Vyren on the couch, concerned for his friend's wellbeing. "That looked intense...and I'm here if you need to talk about it." he said, slowly wrapping his arm Vyren, patting his back.
Vyren's eyes began to well up with tears. He looked at Lazarus and gave a half-smirk. "Thanks." he said, bending down, placing his elbows on his knees, hanging his head in his hands.
Soft sobs began to fill the room.
~~~~~
The next morning, Lazarus awoke in Vyren's bed completely alone. He stretched and got up, leaving the room to the kitchen. No sign of the Firani anywhere. "Where'd he go?" Lazarus spoke aloud.
Finally, he decided to check the gym. Sure enough, Vyren was out there in nothing but shorts, beating on a punching bag that hung in the corner.
"Vyren, good morning." the soft voice of the Peisio called to his friend.
Surprised, and a little scared, Vyren spun around and let out a relieved sigh. "Oh, hey, good morning." he said, letting a smile creep upon his face. He picked up a towel that he had placed on the floor and began to wipe the sweat from his brow, wrapping it around his neck. "I trust you slept well?" he asked.
"Mm." Lazarus nodded with a smile. "Thanks for letting me stay over. It was getting too late to go home. My family is probably slightly worried, though. Oh well." he concluded.
"I'm sorry you had to sit with me. You really didn't have to. But I truly do appreciate the company. Last night was rough."
"No no, don't even apologize. I was happy to stay with you. You needed a friend, and I'm just glad I was there for the comfort." he said, still smiling. Lazarus gave Vyren a hard look over, noticing every inch of his body, covered in sweat, glistening in the light. Beauty. That was the only word that filled Lazarus' mind at that very moment. A slight blush crept upon his face in that moment.
"S-so, now that you're all better, I guess I should be going." he said, rubbing his arm, bashfully.
"No...I mean...you can go if you want. I just appreciate your company." he stated, smiling, and closing more of the gap between the two.
Lazarus backed up quickly, slight blush blooming into a completely red face. "Y-y-you're quite welcome. And it's not that I want to go. Uhh...like I said, m-my family is probably beginning to worry about me. I didn't tell them I would be gone all night." he said nervously.
"I see...that's fine. Hopefully I can see you ag-"
"Y-yes!" Lazarus interjected, eyes widening with embarrassment. "I mean, of course you can see me again." he stated, trying to cover up his embarrassment with an awkward hand gesture and slight chuckle at the end; finally pulling a hand through his ombre hair and rubbing the back of his head.
Vyren chuckled at Lazarus' embarrassment. "Alright. How about we take another trip? I need to get out of this place for a while. Go somewhere new. I haven't been to Soudul in years, how about we go see the sights? I'll go regardless, but I'd like you to come with me. I just need some time away."
"That...would be great. Lets plan on taking that trip." Lazarus said, smiling and almost completely calmed down from his earlier mishap.
So, the two set a date to meet at the Khoe household and then they'd be off.844/2000

A total of a month later, and Vyren had been thinking about Lithian all too much. But, luckily he had Lazarus to help keep his mind off of him. He awaited Lazarus' arrival at his house with eager intent. He couldn't wait to get out of the Plane. Experiencing Soudul again would be a trip, as he hadn't been there since a youngster; but now he was ready and willing to make the trip; especially after what Lithian had done to him.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"I'll get it, Paen." Vyren called excited and eager as he ran through the house to the front door.
Upon opening it, he saw Lazarus' bright face, holding what seemed to be a pack of supplies.
Vyren's face lit up. "You don't even know how much I've been looking forward to this trip." he said, smile as wide as ever.
"I bet, I can see it all over your face." Lazarus responded with a wide smile of his own. "Are you ready?" he asked.
"Yeah, I am. Let me just tell Paen I'm leaving." he said, quickly turning around to run off to Paen's room.
Within a moment, he was back, closing and locking the door behind him, and the two were off towards the portal.
A few hours passed and the two were on the beaches of Soudul together. There, they decided to go deep into the Forests of Endeldarth. It was there that they heard the roars and screams of dragons.
"T-that's a Peisio call." Lazarus stated, stopping in his tracks.
"What-"
"Shh!" Lazarus snapped, creeping towards a bush on the side of the road. Looking past it, he noticed a raging battle. Peisio were out of the lake, berating a woman who seemed to be quite skittish. Suddenly, as Vyren approached, the woman transformed. She was a dragon.
"Is...is that a Dovaa?" Vyren whispered.
Lazarus' eyebrows pinched together. "Vyren, that's a Khehorian. And she's in trouble. We have to help!" he said, getting up from his crouched position and running out into the openness of Lake Koralifel.
"Laz! Wait! Dammit!" Vyren exclaimed, reaching out to grab at Lazarus' clothing, but it was too late. He was already too far out of reach of the Firani.
As Lazarus made his way out into the open, two Peisio Dragons instantly began berating him with water, of which he was able to cut as though to make a shield in front of him, collecting their attacks, only to blast them right back at them.
The Peisio Khehorian realized she was being helped and also blasted the water towards the two unsuspecting dragons.
Meanwhile, Vyren burst from the bushes as well, only to throw a volley of fireballs at the opposing dragons.
There were five dragons in total. Two of which were throwing water every which way, and three which stood behind, ready to attack. With one roar, they all began their barrage of watery blasts at the three targets. The Khehorian wasn't able to stop one of them, and she was taken aback, blasted towards a nearby tree.
Vyren was able to dodge the dragon that attempted to take him on, as did Lazarus. But three dragons all took on the Khehorian woman and overtook her. Before anyone could do anything, she had passed, only able to kill one of her attackers. That left two dragons for each of the boys.
Lazarus defended as best he could, the attacks of the dragons, and was able to manipulate the water within them, dragging their built in water pouches outward; essentially turning the dragons inside out. Three dead. One left.
He was weak, trying to protect them all. But just then, the final dragon grabbed Vyren and drug him into the lake. "LAZARUS!" he called.
"VYREN!!!" Lazarus exclaimed in response. With all his might, Lazarus spouted up Vyren, the dragon, and an interesting little character, all to the land, and sliced the head of the dragon off with one swift motion. It claimed most of his energy to do such a thing, and he fell to the ground in exhaustion.
"V-V-Vye...a-are...you...okay?" he was able to ask in between many deep breaths.
The Firani coughed up some of the water, and took deep breaths as well. "Y-yeah...I'm fine. You?" he asked in response.
"Yeah...tired...W-what was that other thing I drug out of the lake?" he asked, almost unable to move.
Vyren glanced over at what seemed to be an unconscious dragon. "A...dragon? A baby dragon..." he stated.
Lazarus, curious, rolled over and noticed the baby Orakoi. His eyes widened, and with a final push of adrenaline, he crawled to the baby's side. He felt the water in it's lungs, and pulled upward and outward. Water spout forth from the mouth, and the Orakoi began to cough uncontrollably. Finally, it opened it's eyes to reveal the bright, icy blue spheres within. Lazarus instantly smiled and rolled back over next to the baby dragon, who kept his eyes locked on Lazarus constantly. The Peisio then began to fall asleep.
~~~~~
"Laz...Laz...are you okay? Lazarus. Wake up." Vyren called.
Lazarus began to open his eyes, looking up into Vyren's. "Y-yeah, I'm fine...what's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing's wrong. I'm just being completely sure you're okay. And this little dragon wouldn't stop looking at you and crying, until just now." Vyren stated, expressing his annoyance for the Orakoi.
Lazarus sat up, and as he did, the Orakoi leapt at him, licking his face in appreciation. "Aww! Hahahaha!" Lazarus laughed, pulling the licking face from his. With a smile, Lazarus began to pet the little Orakoi's nose.
"Vyren...I want him."
"Wh-what!? You...want to keep a dragon?"
"Haha. No, the Orakoi. Have you never seen an Orakoi? The bond?" Lazarus asked.
"W-wait? That's a Khehora baby? I couldn't tell...just looked like a dragon to me." he stated.
"Well, yeah. He seems to really like me. I think I want to take him back to the Plane with me." he stated.
"You guys aren't bonded, right? The Plane wouldn't allow that." he stated.
"They don't have to know he's not my bonded. As far as they're concerned, this little one cracked out of his egg and bonded with me that very moment. Besides, look at him, he's so small and unaware. He wouldn't be able to survive out here with nobody. Maybe that's what that Khehorian woman was doing...trying to protect her baby." Lazarus stated.
"Laz, I don't know about that. He's awfully whiny. Plus, what happens when you get caught keeping a Feral in the Plane?" Vyren stated, raising a brow.
"They wouldn't know. I don't think anyone would be able to find out. He's just an Orakoi right now. There's nothing stopping me from keeping him at this point. He seems to like me and I definitely like him already. Look, we can train him not to be feral. Just watch. If anything happens, than I'll definitely take the blame for it all." Lazarus stated.
"What do you mean you'll take the blame for it? I'm not bringing that thing back to the Plane. That's all on you. And where are you even going to put him? He seems so big..." Vyren stated, brow raised.
"You know, you're right. He looks a bit bigger than other Orakoi I've seen in the past. I'm not sure. I'll figure it out. I will." he stated, smiling down at his newest companion. The Orakoi seemed genuinely ecstatic about being the newest addition to this little team.
"What do you say we head on home, Vye?"
"Yeah, enough adventuring for one month."
"Great...and what do you say we take you with us...N...Nelareth?"
With a happy coo, the three walked back into the Forests of Endeldarth together.
