Q. How do I get a pet?
By participating in games, events, customs, breedings, or being gifted a character by another customer. You can also receive a pet through the Monthly Quest raffle, should you be rolled!
Q. Can we co-own?
No. We've seen co-owning cause too many issues for us to consider it at this time.
Q. Can same gendered Nightmares breed?
Absolutely. As Nightmares do not reproduce by physical means, it is completely possible for any gender to imbue a stone with one another.
Q. Can I have a cosplay?
No. While we will color Nightmares based off Gaia-items or after creatures from games/stories (Pokemon is an example), you cannot own a cosplay of a character.

Q. Can we make our own journal?
No no no no! Staff will create a new journal for you should you be new and asking for a cert. Customers already with a journal will have their pets put right in their journal once the pet is certed. Do not make new journals, or we will delete on sight.
Q. Can I request a new journal if my old one breaks?
Yes! You may! Just PM Nightmare Adira and we will create you a new journal and move the old one into archives!

Q. How are hybrids viewed?
Hybrids are looked upon with some prejudice, only insofar as the pre-existing racial tensions that exist between some races. A Geist/Baphomet hybrid might find themselves being shunned by some particularly racist Baphomet, due to the fact that Geist values differ very heavily from Baphomet. Whereas Geists might distrust Baphomet, due to the fact that many Baphomet are very vocal about how Geists are untrustworthy and lawless – which is very untrue. In the academy, however, hybrids are much more common. It's believed that because Alcyone was a large, diverse city before its demise, many of the stones found in the cache were the offspring of parents of different races. There are also many second-generation hybrids who are children of graduated orphaned Nightmares.
Q. What traits can my hybrid gave?
It depends on the races. A Demon/Geist might be able to phase as an adult, but it'd require much more focus and concentration than a pure Geist. Hybrids don't become more powerful just because they have multiple races, but instead have weaker versions of what the races skills are.

Q. Can we use NPCs?
While you may mention a non-playable character for setting purposes, you may not RP them as you do with a Nightmare. They are to be mentioned vaguely, and not treated as a secondary character.
Q. Also, in other news, how does the roommates thing work? Like, do we get to pick, does staff pick, are they roommates with some unnamed unspecified child?
Roommates work three ways:
1.) You can opt out of your Nightmare having a roommate, as the academy allows students with certain personalities to have their own room. This is rare for freshlings, but doable as freshlings have windows in their door for caretakers to keep an eye on.
2.) You can make up a roommate for your Nightmare, as long as you do not control them! Unnamed, unspecified! You can have your Nightmare mention adventures with their roommate and such, but they're a regular ol' NPC.
3.) Ask around and see if another customer would like to have their Nightmare room up with yours!
We do not assign roommates! It's up to the owner to decide what they want.
Q. Can we use RPs where we own both (or more) characters for growths?
Absolutely! As long as you follow the post requirements you are eligible to enter the characters for growth! For example, if I RP two characters I both own together and they reach the 10 posts total requirement, then that RP can be used for growth requirements!

Absolutely.
Q. Can I game off a Nightmare I won in an event?
No. Once you win the pet it is yours. If you do not want it anymore, please post in the rehoming thread with the correct form.
Q. Can I rehome a Nightmare by a game?
No. You may, however, give the pet back to the shop for us to rehome.

Q. Do Nightmares reproduce sexually?
No. Nightmares reproduce by imbuing stones.
Q. Can my Nightmare have "accident" children?
No. Imbuing stones are completely intentional. However, you can have a Nightmare imbue a stone with the intention to awaken the stone later, only to have them by accident awaken the stone before they're ready.
Q. How many Nightmares can breed together?
A single Nightmare can imbue a stone by themselves, if they so wish. Two Nightmares can imbue stones together, and even three Nightmares can imbue stones together! The current limit is three Nightmares, since any more involves too much individual magic and often will break the stone instead!
Q. How do stones awaken?
In-character, stones are awakened either by one of the parents touching the stone after it's been given time to rest after imbuing, or an outsider can perform a spell to awaken the stone. Out-of-character, staff will post two weeks after dropping the stones (and if you've requested a cert), asking for owners to RP their Nightmares either touching the stone or using a spell. Should a customer wish to wait to awaken their stone they need only to ignore the post or, preferably, let the colorist know they wish to wait. They can quote the post later to awaken the stone.
