The cool breeze swirled and danced its way among the trees and plants giving the nature of the world sweet promises of a calm day. The sun was high in the sky but the breeze kept things cool and comfortable. The flowers and plants were starting to bloom and greet all who could see their beautiful and welcome their sweet scents.
Along with the playful breeze a storm cloud colored fox lay his coat was plush and full with such a downy softness that was almost more welcoming than the bright flowers of the bushes in front of which he laid. He lay with his front paws crossed jet black patterns swirled together across the limbs like a hypnotic spell. His long lashed eyes were shut his long ears erect and lazily listening to the world around him. His manner and grace almost seemed to promise the companionship of a female or a mother rather than a strong male. Though of course no one seemed to be willing to intrude on his beautiful solidarity and quiet meditation.

Hunter sighed as he picked his way carefully through his chosen path. He'd been out with his sister Nova a few days previous and they'd stumbled across a calm little clearing. He'd been hoping to return there soon and today seemed like the perfect day to do so. The weather was perfect and practically called him outdoors. Perhaps while he was there he could gather herbs and such for his mother and Rowan. They'd both probably appreciate it. As he emerged from the cooler temperature of the shaded trees into the warmer air of the clearing. A smile crossed his face and he paused to enjoy the feeling of the lush grass under his paws.

Long ears flicked gently and turned towards the sound of grass being stepped on. A delicate black nose caught scent of an unfamiliar male. Long lashes fluttered as the lounging male shifted and almost stood. He wondered if he should allow the other to notice him first or if he should say something. He could feel the stress and burdens hanging on the young male. He seemed so tired that it made Phaneul wish to preserve the peace of the clearing.
The angelic like male tucked his tail closer to him and gently eased open his eyes slightly to cast his gaze on the form drawing closer to him. He took only a quick glance then lowered his lids again. And chose to remain quiet for the moment.

Hunter stiffened momentarily as he caught the scent of another fox. His ears flicked quickly side to side as he zeroed in on the location of said fox. When no greeting was offered he shifted uneasily. Finally he sighed and moved closer. No reason to be rude on such a nice day. He stared in what he hoped was the correct general direction. "Nice day. Isn't it?" His mother had been on his case recently about being more polite and trying to make friends.

Well that was a surprised to be greeted first. Phanuel had assumed that they would just be sitting in silence. But with the greeting he felt a gentle smile cross his muscle. "Yes it is. A rather perfect day to enjoy the comfort and warmth nature can give. Would you care to join me good sir?" He asked his voice soft and welcoming like suede or velvet. It was a gentle and swirled like the cool breezed.
"Do not worry about small talk if you were seeking a solo rest on this day." He offered just incase the new dark dressed male was not one for talking.

As the other male spoke Hunter narrowed down his exact positioning and moved closer taking the opportunity to sit down when the invitation was offered. "No. It would be awkward to share the clearing without some conversation. And I wasn't particularly looking to be alone." He frowned and hoped that his response hadn't come out as rude. "Though it might be bordering on rude to not at least know each others names. I'm Hunter." He realized that he was holding himself tense and took a breath to relax, focusing on the feeling of the warm sun on his fur.

"Well then dear Hunter I think it is a good bit of fate that brought us together today. Seeing how you were not seeing solitude. And I more than welcome one such as yourself by my side." He gave a soft nurturing laugh that was like cool velvet on the wind. "My name is Phanuel Tennin, please feel free to call me by either name or any you prefer." He added calmly, "Do try to relax I have no intentions to attack or harm you in any way." he tilted his head towards Hunter breathing slowly to help encourage the other male to do the same. Body language even to those who could not see could speak so clearly to another's.

"Phanuel is it? Then it's a pleasure to meet you Phanuel." Hunter chuckled dryly at the assurance that the other male meant him no harm. "Please don't find offense in this, but words mean little when it comes to wishing violence on someone. And it isn't anything to do with you that I hold myself so tense. I wasn't born blind...and since that day I prefer to not let my guard down at all. It works out better that way." He did however relax ever so slightly as he could feel Phanuel relax himself. "What brings you here on such a nice day?" He tried to turn the conversation to lighter subjects.

"But of course I would take no offense. You seem to be the type who has experienced a lot of violence. I take if the damage done to your eyes then was an act of violence by one who claimed no aggression or felt none within their body at the time?" He shook his head slowly but kept the rest of his body calm and loose, "I am not asking you to lower your guards but one can still have all their defenses up without tensing their bodies so. Even if I did intend you harm I am sure you would still best me. My skills are not geared towards fighting of any kind." He said warmly and smiled, "It is as you say Hunter it is a nice day. What better reason for one to wish to be out in the warm of the sun and coolness of the breeze. Nature can be a great cure for the thoughts and troubles that plague one's mind. Though I apologize if my prattling on is describing the solitude you were seeking when you came to this clearing. I would not take any offense either if you requested I hold my tongue."

"No. The woman who did this to me was full of violence and rage. So much so that when she failed to find my mother -her true target- at home when she attacked, she did not hesitate to turn her rage on myself and my younger sisters in order to hurt my mother in leiu of her original plan." He sighed and smiled a little. "I suppose you're right. Being this tense does tend to make me achy." He relaxed completely as he changed position to lay down, dropping his nose into the grass and sniffing deeply. He loved the earthy smell that filled his nose. It reminded him of his childhood, digging in the dirt with his parents while working on their garden. Suddenly he lifted his head and laughed deeply. "No. Not at all. I find your 'prattling on' -as you call it- kind of nice. Lately its been quiet around my house. I kind of miss the sound of voices. So what do you do, when you aren't lounging around just where you seem to be needed?"

The male laid there and listened to the tail silently and then spoke as he listened to the other shift and breath deeply, "To seek such violence against the innocent kits is unforgivable. It is best, I have found, to try and not let violence towards anyone fill one's heart. Though I am well aware that at time is it far from avoidable." He could not help but smile at the soft words and welcoming of his voice and company. "Oh my to think of my presence as being needed is more than a bit of a compliment however as you stated my lounging around is what I do most of the time. At best I guess you can call me a companion to those who are in need. Though I have to say I am hardly ever in the company of one such as yourself. Normally I am more sought out by the elderly and those at the end of their lives."

Hunter chuckled dryly for a moment. "My father has tried to remind me of that since the attack. I always brushed it off until recently. My sister Rowan -the middle child- introduced us to the young woman she'd been seeing. Miss Lydia reminded me a great deal of the woman who attacked because of her choice in profession. I said some very unkind and judgemental things and my mouth came very close to ruining Rowan's chance at happiness. I didn't realize how much Lydia really meant to her until it was too late." He hung his head a bit and sighed unhappily. "Luckily my sisters cute looks and charm mended any harm I might have caused and the relationship progressed despite my idiotic moment. But since then I've tried to be a little less judgmental. It's...difficult, but I work at it." He listened to Phanuel as he spoke and at the end he chuckled to himself before standing up and walking to stand over the other. "You make it sound as if you're a grim reaper. Perhaps I should check if you carry the scythe or wear the cloak?" He leaned down as if to check the other's clothing with his nose.

Phaneul was not surprised by the story of the other male or being told about it. He was glad to listen and hopefully be a means of some venting to the troubled male. He listened and thought about how to respond to what was revealed to him. He had been about to reply when he heard Hunter shift and he could feel the other drawing closer as he stood over him and bent his head down the grey male shifted to slightly expose his underside in and effort to help assure he meant no harm, "The grim reaper alas I am not one of such fame or status. I carry no weapons upon my form and the only cloak you shall find is the silk which covers the scars of my own violent past." He said softly his tone ever gentle and calm. "Please feel free to check me though if you desire."
Taking a slow breath he continued on, "As for the part of your sister and her it sounds to be you are doing nothing more than what any brother would do for a sibling. You do not wish to see her suffer again. But if it is meant to be between them nothing anyone will do shall part them. And as for your father's advice I have found it is easier to give or hear advice but harder to follow it. Anyone can tell you a thousand times this is how something should be handled but it is up to you and you alone how to handle things." He took a long slow breath again taking in the standing male's scent along with the scent of the day. "Though you man have been more forceful than you should have that does not mean you were in the wrong. Though I guess it can also be said that though the two are still together it does not mean that you were in the right."

The blind fox took a hesitant step back when the other exposed his belly. He had to resist his first instinct which would have been rather uncalled for and very indecent. With forced self-control Hunter chuckled happily as he flopped down on the ground right next Phanuel when he was satisfied with his examination. It took him a moment longer than necessary to move away. The other male smelled good, and he was reluctant to move to an appropriate distance. "Forgive me if I choose to withhold judgement on whether you are or aren't until much later down the road. Not that you being a reaper is a particularly bad thing." He smirked, his smile lighting the area up with his charm. He was very grateful for the change in subject. He forced his mind off of other darker desires and took a deep breath before nodding. "Yeah. Rowan nearly tore my hide off literally, and Miss Lydia did a pretty good job of tearing me apart herself. But they're very happy together, and that make me happy. Because Rowan's happiness is the most important." He sighed and shook his head. "You're right. Nothing is harder than actually taking good advice. Especially from someone who knows you well." He turned his head to face Phanuel properly. "So what do you do? When you aren't waiting in just the right spot at just the right moment to make foxes like myself this happy."

Phaneul kept his body relaxed and calm though he did tilt his head as the other moved to step back. He kept his mind calm and did not take offense. He could tell that many things were running threw the other male's mind and his job here was nothing but to relax him as best he could. He would not be good at his job if he could not keep ease some worry in the other. Some how curve the other male's hard press hatred and guilt towards himself. "You are free Hunter to think as you wish of me. We are all entitled to our own opinions." he said and as he did so he opened an eye enough to catch a flash of a smile that for a brief but powerful moment quickened the soft spoken's male's heart and gave a bit of a spike to his scent.
He shut his eyes and turned his face away, the blind male was too close and his own sent had shifted to a deeper one. He felt a smile come to his lips, "If I have brought any moment of happiness to you sir then I am very glad and did my job. As for what I do, I do not happen to have anything in particular that I do. I am afraid I am a wanderer with no home nor place to call my own or rest my head." he let out a heavy breath and slowly started to rise to his paws, "I guess it is time I take my leave Mr. Hunter, I do not wish to take up too much of your evening since I do know your original intent was to spend the night alone. Even if you do not feel the same I do wish we may meet again in the near future." he said softly and got fully to his paws the silk secure around his stomach still.
