Video Games -- Michael Bones spends a lot of his time outside of school doing more or less what he's going to school to learn to do better- commentating on video games. When he's not focusing on a digital arts major, he's at home playing games and working on his skills. He loves streaming the games he plays, letting people on the internet know how he thinks and feels. But he likes to play for himself, too, without cameras and sound equipment recording his reactions. Mostly, he prefers games like GTA V and first person shooters, but he's a big enough gamer nerd to like things like minecraft, pokemon and legend of zelda, too. About the only games he doesn't like so much are, of course, the ones aimed for really young children. He also isn't into PC gaming much, and tends to do his streaming from consoles. He's willing to give most things a go at least once, though mostly for the sake of his audience. He also really loves to play games with other people, as he is a very social butterfly. Co-op and multiplayer games are baby bear's bed for him- just right.
Internet -- While he doesn't like PC gaming too much, he does enjoy spending time on the internet, mostly in chat rooms and gaming forums where he can chat about the games he likes and, more importantly, the games he hates. He has a lot of social media sites he spends time on, mostly to chat with fans of his streaming channel. To him, it's important to touch base with the people who support him, even if they don't always agree with everything he has to say. But, hey, yelling at people is still better than completely ignoring them, right? When not dealing with his fans, he enjoys sites like Cracked, where he can read nonsense and facts and generally just enjoy himself in the process.
Comics -- Spending time offline is important, too, right? So of course he has interests away from home. Namely- comic books! That totally counts. He is a big fan of comics and doesn't matter what publisher they're from or what they're about- he will give everything a read at least once. His favorite comics tend to be about super heroes, and he's pretty fond of the classic 'good guy beats bad guy' scenario. He gets a little frustrated when comics try to be more clever than that, but he is willing to go in with an open mind no matter how outrageous the plot might seem to him. He spends a lot of time at the local comic book shop, just hanging out with other nerds and talking shop. He also attend conventions a lot of the time, and it more than willing to cosplay when he goes to them. Between video games, TV, movies and comic books, he has plenty of cosplay choices to pick from. Still, he is not the most prolific spender when it coms to cosplay, and will only dish out the cash for a higher quality costume if it's something he's extremely passionate about. He goes to convention more for the atmosphere, the comics and the games than he does for the cosplaying. He enjoys the comic side of things, but he's not nearly as into manga and anime. He thinks the fans can be a little weird (hypocritical much?) and tends to avoid that side of the fence.
Virtues:
Outgoing -- By nature, Michael is a very outgoing person, and he always has been. That was what prompted him to start a youtube channel about him playing video games for people in the first place. He loves to interact with people, even when it's in a debate or fight. But he also likes making friends, of course, even if it sometimes seems kind of difficult for him. Being so opinionated makes him hard to approach, but he is not the kind of person to bash on someone without reason to. People can be very surprised by his outgoing nature, and they can find his charisma charming. The image he presents of himself on his video game channel is not who he is in real life... when it comes to interacting with other people. He loves meeting up with people at conventions and parties, as well as playing online with other people from all over the world. Of course he likes to meet his fans sometimes, too, though he wouldn't really consider himself a large enough force in the video game channel industry that he even HAS that many fans just yet. Still, meeting you is like an extra special moment for him. On the flip side, he also goes to conventions to meet artists that he admires, too, and tends to be on his very best behavior when he talks to someone he considers one of his internet gaming heroes.
Funny -- Since he needs to be entertaining for a living, Michael is very glad that he has a natural wit about him. He's always quick with a joke, and can make a comment about almost anything. When it comes to humor, he is more of an observation comedian, and likes to make comments on what he sees and hears around him. He isn't much for knock knock jokes or structured comedy of any kind. He is also very crude with his humor, and can sometimes offend people with his comments. Generally, though, he tries to stick to comments that will please a wide range of people, as constantly fighting on the internet isn't fun for anyone.
Loyal -- There are people who are close to Michael, who have gotten past the humor and the attitude, and they are people he would do anything for. While he is always social and outgoing around people, he doesn't make deep connections with just anyone. They have to really understand him. When he does make a connection with someone, he is there for them through thick and thin, and is willing to defend them no matter what, even if they aren't in the right. He is definitely a knight in shining armor type, even if he might swear more than someone might imagine. He also becomes quite thoughtful towards the people he's friends with, any will buy them gifts when he's at conventions or other events for his channel. Of course, he isn't all about following after people and taking care of them- he also expects people to return the favor. He isn't the type to be used for his kindness, which stems back to his particularity when it comes to letting people into his life.
Flaws:
Loud -- Michael is very used to screaming into his mic, whether it's for his channel or when he's playing a first person shooter with friends online. That being the case, he is often loud damn near everywhere else, too. He can often annoy people around him with his loud vocal tendencies. The young man doesn't really know how to turn the volume down, especially if he isn't told that he's being loud. When he's having a lot of fun? Forget about it- you're just going to have to deal with a lot of screaming and boisterous laughter. More mature-minded, or introverted, people will clash with him for sure.
Crass -- Remember him being loud? He's also cursing while he's doing it, which makes him all the more annoying from time to time. He tries to keep his sense of humor in check, especially when he's recording for his channel, but sometimes the cursing and dirty jokes just flood out of him. He doesn't mean to come across as sexist or homophobic, but he has never had much of a censor button. Something politically incorrect will come out of him eventually, and it WILL offend someone. An angry Michael is even harder to deal with. If he's upset, all caution goes out of the window and cursing streams out of him like a fountain. Everyone has their limit. No one is friendly and outgoing all the time. When that moment comes for Michael, boy, are you going to know it. He also tends to get extremely red-faced when he's cursing and slinging insults, too.
Blunt -- Michael doesn't have to be mad to say the wrong thing. He has never been one to censor himself, and not just when it comes to cursing or saying something offensive. Even in day-to-day conversation, he can say something that might upset someone. He is very used to giving his honest opinion when it comes to playing video games and uploading the content to his channel. Sometimes that blunt nature leaks into his day-to-day life, even if he does like to say that he isn't always the guy he is online. If you ask him what he thinks about something, like a drawing or an outfit or something you wrote that you're super proud of, he IS going to tell you what he thinks, and he ISN'T going to mix words about it. Part of his charm is his outgoing nature, but it's also part of a big problem, too. Not everyone falls in love with his 'tell it like it is' nature, especially if it's about a topic they really care about.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Michael has very bright blue eyes that look almost like ice. They tend to be very piercing, as he often has a critical expression on his face. His eyes are the main reason people enjoy watching him with face cam. While he doesn't use them during his streaming, Michael does have glasses that he wears while driving. He is near-sighted.
Hair: Save for when he's doing something important, or trying to impress someone, his hair is always slightly unkempt and looks like he just rolled out of bed and thought 'well, this is good enough'. But his curly locks don't seem to suffer too much from his lazy appearance. He usually keeps his hair cut very short, as if he lets it grow out it starts to look like a perm. Sometimes he'll dye his hair for the sake of cosplay or an event for his channel, but generally his hair is a rich brown color.
Face: Michael has a very young-looking face. It's round, though not chubby, and frames his generally angry eyes quite well. He looks even younger when he has his glasses on, and people sometimes ask him if he's still in high school. While he doesn't mind, he's sure they'll be asking him for his ID when he buys alcohol for years to come. He has fairly small ears for his head shape, which he actually likes because he doesn't have to try and hide them behind long hair. Long hair definitely doesn't work in his mind. He has not freckles or scars on his face, and tends to look quite pale. Probably because he spends a lot of time in front of a computer screen, even though he does go out of conventions and gamer-type gatherings all the time. He has to have something for the people on the internet to tease him about, right?
Clothes: Michael doesn't give much thought to his clothes, and isn't what one would call 'fashion forward'. While he doesn't want to look like a slob, he also isn't interested in being some metro model, either. Generally, he just wears jeans and some kind of nerdy reference top. He likes layered shirts, as well as jackets/unzipped sweatshirts and open flannels over top his t-shirts. He also likes to have his wallet in his pocket, with a chain connecting it to his belt loop. From the chain dangles any number of keychains, usually from fandoms. He tends to change them a lot, but most of the time they're either minecraft or pokemon-related. He doesn't wear jewelry, with the exception of the odd bracelet from time to time. No necklaces, no rings. And, of course, he does have cosplay costumes from time to time, too, though they aren't usually super elaborate.
