The brightly colored chibi senshi climbed to the top of the play structure and sat down. Her parents had been at it again. Iduna sighed, playing with the lace trim in the few remaining hours of light left. This time at least she hadn't started it. She'd been good the last few months, about keeping on her best behavior and doing what she was told. The bluenette was the model student and model daughter these days, only sneaking out at night to patrol for monsters in the park when she was sure her parents were asleep. By result, most of the arguments had died down, as her parents weren't arguing over her anymore.
She should have known it wouldn't have lasted.
Easter was... an experience. Her mother had wanted to go to church, then to her grandmother's house, while her father had simply wanted to show up for dinner later in the day and keep it quiet around the house. Catherine threw a fit and dragged them to church, making snide comments about he'd lost his faith and way, and how terrible of a Christian he was. They thought Jenn couldn't hear, as they bickered over tiny things. Her grandmother's was incredibly tense, mostly because many of the adults were asking about Merric and no one had a good enough answer for his absence.
Things simmered down over the week, but then she started drinking the really nasty stuff in the tall cabinets. Booze, her father had called it in his rage.
Iduna didn't stay long after the shouting started. Which lead her to her current perch on the play structure. She just wished they'd stop fighting sometimes... Saint Sergio If you'd like me to change anything, let me know! Hope you don't mind me allowing this for potion drops too. :3

A man about as big as a child in most aspects of his life wandered towards the playground. He'd been around too many adults. He wanted time to laugh. Especially since he was still injured after his battle with that one Negaverse lieutenant. Tall b*****d scared the living crap out of Quail's Eye and the battle was basically left unfinished because he didn't really know how to fight. It'd been so long. He sighed and ran a hand through his deep silver hair before eh felt a small signature where he was headed. So he was right to come here. With a soft expression, he stepped into the playground, finally and just looked around before he spotted a brightly colored girl on top of the world. "What's the matter? You're up on the biggest thing here and you look so sad." He frowned a little and jumped up to land next to her with a gentle noise. Hopefully he didn't scare her. That'd be bad. "You going to be okay?" a-disgruntled-dragon ((Everything is awesome!))

She hadn't realized she'd started to cry until he spoke up. She hiccuped and wiped her eyes, turning to face the silver haired boy. Her eyes were red, though Iduna attempted to hide it best she could.
"Of course I'll be fine! I just needed some time to myself and..." she trailed off, her facade cracking even before the paint dried. The chibi senshi pulled at her skirts, eyes casting down to the rest of the park below. Iduna tucked her legs under her and looked back at him, grey eyes wet.
"I don't, um, patrol... I just come out here when the fighting gets bad and mom's been drinking too much to get away..." said the young girl, tucking blue hair behind her ears. Talking about it made it real, but helped... kind of. She wanted to make it stop, to make them make up and it all be one happy family again.
Shouting back only got her backhanded though.
"My name is Iduna, Chibi Senshi of Apples. Who are you?" Iduna introduced herself after a moment, taking a breath to calm herself down.

Ah, so she needed to decompress. Quail's Eye could understand that. He smiled at her softly and let his brows knit before moving to just get comfortable next to the chibi. Then she started talking about her mom and he motioned her closer to him. "You can lean on me. It's okay," he whispered to her, trying to get her to open up more and cry if she needed to. "Quail's Eye. Just Quail's Eye." He grinned and let it scrunch up his face before looking out at the park again. "You know, Iduna, when fighting gets too bad you can always ...stay a normal girl for a spell. It's not cowardly or running away. It's what I do." He looked over at her again and let his brows knit in worry. "You can also just hang out with friends, if your mom is getting unreasonable. I know lots of people get unreasonable when they drink. Sometimes, though, the best thing is to let them feel bad for a while and then help them once the worst of it's over? Does that make sense?"

Quail's Eye was a funny name. Then again, so was Iduna, so she guessed she couldn't really make fun of it. His advice was the advice most adults gave her. Over and over, "why didn't she go play with friends", or "not give them space", or "simply wait until everything cooled down." None of it mattered; none of it worked. Ignoring the problem only lasted until she had to go home again. Then the cycle started right back up.
Many times she wondered if this was why her brother left. To get away from their parents.
"That doesn't work," she said, hunching her shoulders. "It doesn't stop her drinking, it doesn't stop them fighting. It only delays when I see it. Being a magical girl helps... I'm just not good at fighting monsters." The chibi side eyed him warily. Quail wasn't immediately on her 'do not trust' list, but she was still somewhat suspicious.
"So... are you a senshi?"

His advice didn't seem to help her and her words confirmed it. Quail visibly flattened and deflated a bit before he gave a noise and nodded. "Sorry. I wish I could help you out more," he said after a moment of silence, looking out at the city. "No. I'm not a senshi. I'm... part of a group that broke up a while ago. But I fight the Negaverse, so I'm... trying to be accepted by senshi." He looked over at her and just gave her a little shrug. "I am trying to make myself a place here, and feel welcomed. It's not easy. I'm not from this country, but I will keep trying until I feel at home." Mainly because he didn't want to go back home. Home wasn't... great. Not bad, but not great. A hand pushed through his hair and he shifted a little. "I'm protecting citizens. I'm not very good at it yet. I'm used to running, but I can't do that forever. People will get hurt. As for your problems, I'm trying to think of something to say and I can't. I ..Sorry. I haven't been in that situation. It must be really tough for you."

Iduna shook her head, a small smile on her face. He tried, and that was more than most. It wasn't quite... helpful, but the gesture was all the same. Even if it was advice she heard all the time.
"Not a senshi? Really?" She tilted her head at him in curiousity. Not something he wanted to admit what he was, clearly, but it intrigued her. He said he protected people and tried to fight the Negaverse. That seemed good enough to her.
"I'm not a really good senshi to be honest... I just drop rotten apples on people's heads. But I'm happy you're fighting the monsters too." She smiled at him a little wider, genuinely looking more happy than she had prior. Iduna shrugged. Her problems would work themselves out at some point. "Mostly just very loud... It was easier with my big brother home, but he moved out a year or so ago."

"I'm not. I'm part of an old Trio that's disbanded now. Scattered, I suppose. It's just me." He shrugged his shoulders a little sadly and just rocked himself back and forth before giving her a gentle smile. he slowly moved to put an arm around her shoulders, settling next to her completely now and just rocked her a little. "...Well, rotten apples do stink, and they still hurt," he said matter-of-factly. "Every senshi is a good senshi. You just have to find it in yourself to believe that. I heard there's a senshi of eggs. Maybe you should find her and see if she can help?" He didn't know anything about senshi magic. He didn't have any himself yet and honestly, he wasn't sure he ever would. Quail's Eye was in this weird middle ground where he wasn't part of any real faction anymore. He leaned more toward Senshi since he didn't want anything bad to happen to the Earth or his civilian friends. "So your brother was the glue, you think? Mn.. Listen. I tend to hang out around this ...chef friend of mine on my patrols at night." Quail's Eye gave a huge grin and he patted her head. "I'll give you his address and we can meet there a couple days from today. He makes really good hot chocolate. Maybe he can help you figure things out? He's ...really good to talk to about these things. But he's a civilian. So we have to be very careful, mn?"

An old trio, huh? It peaked her interest, though it seemed like he wasn't going to say much more. Iduna's eye widened at the prospect of hot chocolate, and she brightened. She nodded, blue hair waving against her cheeks.
"Of course. I am always very careful around strange people I don't know. Are we meeting as we are now, or as our civilian selves?" she asked him, swinging her legs off the side of the play structure to wiggle them back and forth.
She kind of wanted to tell him her real name. She'd never told anyone who she really was before, so no one knew the girl beneath the red and green skirt. She wasn't sure if it was a bad thing to do - obviously she wasn't going to go around telling bad people who she was - but, maybe she could have some other friends if they knew. More senshi friends, outside of patrolling and fighting monsters.

"As we are now would probably be best, right?" He asked, smiling a little as he watched her legs wiggle like that. Quail shrugged and then just stood up and stretched himself out. "We can meet back here in two days.. That should give us both plenty of time to prepare for a night off." He turned to look at her one more time and just put his hands behind his back. "I can probably ask him to make grilled cheese, too. He makes really good grilled cheese." Quail laughed a bit and just walked around. he was starting to feel really restless and he didn't much care for the feeling. Honey colored eyes looked around and he tried to pick up on anymore signatures out there, but they were alone. "...My real name is Kazuo," he whispered after a moment. "Kaz, is what people tend to call me."

Even better, grilled cheese. She was in, without a question. Iduna looked up at him as he paced, and smiled as he offered his real name.
"Jennifer, though usually people shorten it to Jen," she said in reply, happy to know at least one other person knew her name. It made her feel... real almost, that Jennifer was still part of her and she wasn't just Iduna.
The chibi hopped up and brushed off her skirts. Probably time to head back to her house, in any case.
"Two days, you got it! I'm gunna head home now, Quail. I really enjoyed chatting with you... thanks," smiled Iduna, far happier than when she'd arrived hours ago. It was nice to just.. talk sometimes. Especially to someone who'd listen.

Quail nodded and just waved at her a bit. "That's okay with me! I'll meet you in two days, then!" He felt a lot better as well. His advice did nothing for her, but he hoped showing her some good things would help her mood out. A little positivity went a long way for someone so young. "Be safe getting home, Iduna!"
