When he was younger, Wilson had never been much of a coffee drinker. The taste was always bitter, and he had always been a child with a sweet tooth. It was necessary to pour in as much milk and sugar as he could until it didn’t really taste like coffee anymore. That was then.
Both hands held a paper cup. His hair was a bit longer, not by much, but it made covering his eyes easier as he strained to see the tired reflection in his black coffee. His fingers tapped a reassuringly beat against the cup before he lifted the drink to his lips. The bitter taste was welcomed, a sensation that seemed to fill him up with distorted energy. This is now.
His posture used to be straight, open, but hunching slightly had now become the norm as he sat at an empty cafeteria table and continued to drink his coffee.

A gentle tap was on his back, followed by a soft young voice with uncertainty. "A-Are you okay?" The short girl sat down next to him, eyes different from Wilson, were bright and warm colored. "You....remember me?" She never forget everyone being nice to her, Wilson's smile was warm and friendly when he invited her to join their conversation. "I-I was the girl from a meeting - in a dream, er- it's hard to explain...do you remember me or I should introduce myself again? The girl made gestures in a hectic way. Her hands in cozy knitted sleeves picked up a mug with hot streaming liquid which has a brownish color and leant forward for the sugar container that was a bit far for a short girl. "Do you want sugar?" She'd asked, before scooping up several spoons of sugar into her mug. The weight of the sugar made the level of liquor raised, she took a sip and made a face after tasting raw lemon. Her reaction was pouring more sugar into her drink, tried, and poured until one last time, her face brightened up. Seeing the questionable face, she explained: "It's black coffee, someone told me adults should drink black coffee so I got a cup. However, it tasted too bitter to me so I add sugar into it, that's not cheating right?" She gave Wilson a hopeful look. Syusaki /forces you to look back OUO

The gentle brush was enough for Wilson to pull his hands away from his coffee (surprisingly carefully, mind you) and frantically turn around to look at the intruder. Wide eyes finally landed on Shu’s face, which clicked inside his mind. The corner of his lips cracked into a robotic half-smile as he relaxed and gripped his cup of coffee again. “I’m as good as I’ll ever be,” he answered with a tiny smile.
He diverted his gaze down, his fingers tapping his cup. “I remember your face,” he answered after a moment. Recognizing faces was a strong point of his, but unfortunately names weren’t. “No thanks.” Wilson watched her with a polite, blank expression. Occasionally he would take a sip from his own drink.
“It’s an acquired taste,” he replied while looking at the patterned mug. “Whether it’s cheating or not—I think that depends on who you’re asking.”Meegane temporarily procrastinates--

The girl put down the pretty pink mug, and looked at Wilson with full attention. It was not filled with suspicion, close in on meaning or judgment, but simply worries. "I'm afraid you don't look good to me, you didn't sleep well?" She gestured around her eyes, hinting his obvious dark circles. She'd given him rooms to figure what to say and replied to the topic about cheating. "That's a good point, I haven't thought about it. Hmm....I don't like to be viewed as an underage when I'm not." “Hm?” His gaze slowly wandered to the side, avoiding eye contact with the other death hunter as he brought a hand to his face. Fingers brushed beneath his eyes, presumably where dark circles lay. Perhaps Wilson should invest in some makeup. He would never want to worry anyone about his lack of sleep. It wasn’t even a problem. Really.
Wilson stayed silent longer than normal. He closed his eyes and then opened them toward Shu. “I never drank coffee when I was younger, I wasn’t too fond of the taste, but nowadays I like the bitterness.” He paused. “I like the nuances you get from different beans, too.”
Raspy laughter. “Isn’t it better to be a kid than an adult? No responsibilities. Boundless optimism. I like that.” I miss that.

"Hmm, maybe? But I don't want to. I am capable to do things, I'm a hunter. I don't want to be regarded as some unable little girl, I'm a grown-up and I know what I'm doing." She explained, taking a sip from her sugar overflown cup of black coffee. Ugh, the sugars didn't help much. Wilson was being curiously stared as he didn't look at Shu, thinking or rubbing his eyes. "Do you want to borrow my plushie? They're cuddly and goo for sleep therapy. Do you have a habit to listen to music?" She blinked. "Oops. I forgot they need to be runic before use. I - do you want to talk? Sometimes you will feel better after talking to someone, either they can help or not." This hunter she barely knew make her think of someone - someone important to her, maybe a close one, maybe just herself. She really did worry about the aura of death from him, she was surrounding by similar aura, once.

He didn’t say anything for a moment, just stared at Shu with contemplative, tired eyes. Another moment of silence as he turned to look at his cup of coffee. “Is that so?” Wilson supposed there was that kind of thinking too, but for the hunter, he merely wished to return to simpler, kinder times. It had only (only?) four years since he’d started his life over, but it was four years too long.
His mouth made the tiniest smile as he took a long sip of his coffee. “No, that’s fine.” Wilson set his cup down. “I’m sleeping fine, and everything is fine. It’s just the usual.” He gestured aimlessly with one hand. “It’s the things we all have to deal with it, and I’m used to it by now.”
Casually, he set one elbow on the table and leaned against his fist, smiling pleasantly the whole time. “What about you? A penny for your thoughts, maybe?”

Why he lied to her? Was she not trust-worthy? Shu pinched her face lightly for the obvious clues of sleep deprivation on Wilson's face when he chose to lie. "Nope." She gave her reply flatly, and after a few seconds, "You will tell me what bothered you if I shared mine? Do I look tired to you?" She asked two questions instead of one, brushing her face. She should be smiling....right?

His eyes flickered to the side. Uncharacteristically, he muttered sourly under his breath, “It seems you don’t understand ‘fine’ is relative.” He let himself stay silent as he took a long sip of coffee. Wilson tipped the cup back farther and farther until it was completely empty. Perhaps he would have another, he wondered as he tapped a finger against the cup.
“I’m just tired.” He started tapping a nameless rhythm against the cup. “I think,” Wilson started slowly, “I would like to go home. Just once.”

Shu shrugged with a smile, "Z always say I'm dumb, so you're right, I don't understand it's mentioned in a relative sense." The petite girl wondered if she offended the hunter, there were times that she was too dense to notice any clues. His reply, however dimmed the sparks in her eyes. "I see," said Shu softly. "You miss your home and family?" She missed them too, too much that it sent a pang of heartache each time she thought of them - the home that she could never go back. Home was such a trigger, series of memories flashed by and she got quiet. She forgot she needed to share hers as well.

He stared at Shu while resisting the urge to click his tongue. This girl had better hearing than he thought, but that was fine. Wilson would just have to be more careful next time.
“Mmhm,” he answered softly, continuing to grip his empty coffee cup. She turned silent, but he didn’t bother try to tell her to speak up or wonder why she’d turned silent. He could figure out a pretty good guess why.
After a while, Wilson stood up with his cup. “Well, if you need anything else…” His voice drifted off as he looked toward the kitchen, then threw Shu a smile before walking away to get more coffee.

The petite Asian tagged along, holding her pink princess cat mug with both of her hands. While Wilson already finished one cup and had to refill, Shu only finished half of hers. He looked really like an adult, drinking black coffee, had an expression that seemed like musing abstruse questions about life or the space and of few words. His impression deviated from that in her mind, at the division meeting. He was smiling, talkative and open. This time, she felt him like wrapped in mist, he was reticent to tell her his problems. She felt a bit sad because she would like to help but she couldn't if she knew nothing about it. She pushed herself up the high chair in the kitchen, legs dangling. "Do you prefer I talk about yourself instead?" Her hands overlapped to wrap around the mug, she felt nervous.
