What are some of your dream cosplays?

We all have that list of two or three characters from our favorite shows that we've always wanted to become or at least dress up as. Maybe it's just the outfit, maybe it's the character and the backstory, or maybe it's the comedic and dramatic opportunities that would spring from being that person at a convention.

Of course, there are always obstacles. Maybe you don't think you can act or look the part. Maybe you don't think you could afford the props, or that you lack the skill to make the costume. Maybe you worry that nobody would recognize your costume, so what's the point?

This thread is for talking about those cosplays and maybe making some of them a reality. Perhaps you could get pointers from your fellow trans-people on character acting, cosplay on a budget, or simply receive the right type of encouragement from the words of somebody else. Who knows -- maybe you'll find a fellow fan of that one show you think everybody's forgot.

Who cares? Let's talk about our dream cosplays!

For a long time I wanted to cosplay Jio Freed from the manga 666 Satan, which is also published under the altered title "O-Parts Hunter" in some countries.
- Managed to make that and damn it was awesome! Some people even recognized me tho I thought no one in Finland knows the series besides one of my friends. Now I want to make some other outfit of Jio's too, since I can use the same wig pretty much.

Next plan on "someday I'll cosplay this" -list is actually more of a "but how do I do this" matter... I have two cosplays I really would like to do, but I don't feel like I have the skills yet and also, I'm kind of worried about, hmm, my anatomy, maybe.

I'd like to cosplay Ulquiorra Schiffer from Bleach, but I specifically want to make the "Segunda Etapa" version, with black wings and tail, etc. Mainly worried about how I make the eyes, they're quite abnormal. Well, also the big wings and those horn like things might be a problem. But someday!

Another one is even trickier I think. I'd also like to cosplay Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto Shippuuden, but again, I just want to make the Cursed seal version, with the creepy hand like wings.

That's so cool!

For the Ulquiorra eyes, you would need green sclera lenses, although you could probably get away with lime green circle lenses. Shave your eyebrows, and then use eyeliner or black facepaint to make the lines on the face. The horns and wings I can see being a real problem (especially when trying to use the elevator). For that, I would suggest making something that can easily be taken off and put back on with the help of a friend. That way, you could take the horns and wings off for the elevator ride and carry them down to the first floor. In other cases, the escalator would probably be your friend, and I wouldn't wear the cosplay to panels for obvious reasons. (I'm not a big panel person anyway.)

For the wings, you might also try using PVC and black faux leather or tarp to make wings that fold. Those you might actually be able to take with you on an elevator and possibly into panels. The horns could be made in three easy steps: 1) Get a black headband, preferably a plastic one with teeth. 2) Use rabbit wire or chicken wire to built a vague resemblance to the horns and use hot glue to attach them evenly to the top of the band and 3) Use clay or paper mache to add the body and details. Dry and paint.

Sasuke's hand-wings would be super tricky. You could probably use fabric and PVC pipe again, with some added stuff to give it the quills and claws, but I have no idea how you could make that work comfortably at a convention.

My dream cosplays mostly haven't happened due to the time and money it takes to make them, as well as the way I've been going from place to place recently. There are also some other setbacks, such as the fact that, aside from one or two of them, they're all from very old shows or obscure material, and I think it would be a miracle if I came across one person who recognized me.

Pavi Largo is the cosplay with the least amount of setbacks. I'm confident I can remake the face as soon as my friends bring my latex down from Indiana this fall, and a few alterations to a plain black vest would get me the magnificent high-collared waistcoat he has.

The second dream cosplay is sort of a toss-up between Colonel Hogan and Corporal Newkirk from "Hogan's Heroes". It's an old show that laughs at a very sensitive subject in history (Nazi POW camps), but it was a favorite of mine when I was a kid I still enjoy it today. Unfortunately, without one or more fellow cosplayers to be the rest of the team (LeBeau, Carter, and Kinchloe) or a Nazi guard, people would probably just assume I was trying to be dieselpunk and missing the mark.

The cool part about cosplaying Hogan's Heroes would be all the Hetalia cosplayers I could annoy by insisting that the Hogan, Carter and Kinchloe cosplayers get a picture with America, Newkirk get a picture with England, LeBeau with France, and if we have Nazis, we could also assault any Germanys running around.

The third and last dream cosplay is a team cosplay with my sister and me. She wants to cosplay a servant grunt from "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" and I want to cosplay Daniel, the protagonist. Unfortunately, the grunt costume is going to take a while to make, especially considering my sister's busy schedule, and the lantern we would use is a family heirloom (looks like this) that, even if our parents *did* let us use, might not travel very well or stay in one piece during the convention.

Great ideas, have to remember these! I might make Ulquiorra something like... Summer 2016 maybe haha, I really don't know. And yeah, I really need to pay attention to wings and horns being removable, I like to attend AMV-contests and some panels and cosplay competitions (err, watch them, that is.) so it would be a pain for me and people sitting behind me. lol

Cool cosplay plans! Some cosplays work better with a group for sure, and I think group cosplays are kind of awesome too. biggrin
Wow the grunt cosplay! That would be a big project, I've seen some in the conventions but haven't asked how they made them... And also one solution to convention and travelling problems would be to arrange a photoshoot with friends! Surely your folks would allow to use the lantern just to take couple of pics with it, and then you could safely return it and keep taking more photos.

I think my sasuke cosplay might be too much for convention, so maybe I should wear it to a photoshoot some time so I wouldn't need to worry about stuff so much.

That might be for the best.

Holy crap! I was looking through an historical garb website and found the hat I would need for a Colonel Hogan cosplay... I'd need to dye it, though, and it's over $100 as is!

The grunt costume would be a bit tricky but a lot of fun. I'm thinking of using a body suit as the base, dying and painting it to make it the right color, and then making the large claw hands separately out of fabric and polyester stuffing. The mask is the trickiest, but I hope that with a little work we could make it happen. Then, all we'd need is rope and sackcloth and we'd be good to go!

My parents are very protective of historical heirlooms, and the lantern is one of those things they may flip out over if I took it on any trip outside the house. As for photoshoots, they don't seem nearly as fun to me without the added element of a convention and crazy people who might remember your character and get in on the fun. Besides, I doubt the cops and security guards where I live would take very well to a hideous, horror-show monstrosity wandering about the place with a guy carrying a lantern. XD There aren't many other good settings in my town, either; it's all 1950's-era buildings and forward.

Another cosplay that really is more a dream than a possible reality right now is my D&D character Nimh, a chaotic-neutral gnome rogue with a pet rat. Pretty much everything, from the leather armor to the pointed ears, is a bit daunting.

So I've been playing a favorite game of mine again and I think it would be an awesome idea to design a group cosplay for VVVVVV. The story of the game is simple: A crew of space travelers are caught in a dimensional disturbance and the captain must traverse a crazy open-world platform game of a spaceship to rescue his scattered crew. Any ideas on how to turn these little guys into Human-sized people?

Is it still a dream if has been achieved. I wanted to build up enough confidence to take part in a cosplay masquerade. Well that finally happens this year, and hell it went further I was coaxed into creating a cosplay page on fb.

For those who are interested, the page is below.

https://facebook.com/WinterSamurai

Anyway my first venture into serious cosplay was with the character Kusaka Touma from Fuyu no Semi (Winter Cicada). Which, despite being yaoi, is still one of my favourite animes. It's not often I find a historically themed anything that really tugs at my hearts strings.

I'm working on my next cosplay but I am not saying what it is yet, but it does involve more traditional Japanese clothing and will see daylight come the London October MCM Expo.

I have two dream cosplays and one of them might be a reality within the next year or so! The first one that probably won't be achieved anytime soon is a Big Daddy or Songbird from Bioshock/Bioshock Infinite. I need to learn a lot more about wiring and stuff first.

The one that I may accomplish in the next year though is Rose Quartz from Steven Universe, and I've actually began planning it and drawing out plans!

Some of my dream cosplays are often having to do with revealing my chest a bit or have a lot of complex components.

At the moment, my dream list consists of:

Patroklos from SC5
Kilik from SC3[P2 outfit to be specific]
Sephiroth from FFVII
Raphael from SC3, SCIV and SCV
Marth from Super Smash Bros
