Why, the Firani wondered, had she thought that wandering into the cold lands was anything close to a good idea? She felt miserable and congested and altogether unpleasant. It was only by virtue of her natural heat that she wasn't frozen and dead already, and she knew that that was only a matter of time. She needed to find the coast again and get off of this oversized block of ice. If that was even possible.

She had barely survived one blizzard, and any sort of further storm would probably drive her into the cold ocean and kill her if she tried to fly through it. She sneezed, snuffling miserably at the congealed snot that clogged her nose, her eyes dry and dulled by the endless chill.

Why, by the tides, had she come here? She could have flown anywhere else, but instead had decided to touchdown here instead. She had to have been drunk, she decided, stomping towards a promising patch of blue on the horizon of endless white, very drunk.

Meeting with the Friani Khehora had been a blessing in disguise. They’d killed a dragon together, kept warm and had eaten great food. What more could she have asked for? In all honesty, Xenosa had been tempted to have a Bonded. She felt that she liked Khehora far more than Magescians and it was no wonder why. “Naita do you know where you’re going?” The Orderite followed after the Friani, trying to see where they were headed. “Do you see a dragon?” All Xenosa wanted to do was be gone from this place, but only after a few kills first.

At least she had company. That was the phrase, wasn't it? Misery loved company? Well, yes.

“Do you see an ocean?” she fired back, “I'd rather see that than another dragon, thank ye.” At least she had food and water and something to distract her from her numb paws. It was more than just the cold that numbed them, it was the lack of sensation. Ice, ice, ice and more ice – it was boring. “I want off o' this here iceball.” she complained, “Off and flying, t' warmer places.”

Yes, definitely, to warmer places, where the sun actually did something more than shine sullenly in the sky and mutter about the cold. She was sure even that big ball of fire was cold, Seren or not.

“And no, I have no idea where I'm...” she trailed off, “Oh, flame it all!” she screeched, cursing, at the white shape nearby and the oncoming wave of its blizzard, “Not another tides-cursed...” she growled, “Well there, ye jinxed it!” she muttered as an aside to Xenosa, taking a battle stance against the oncoming wind, “NOW I see a dragon!”

“You and I both.” The Orderite mumbled. Yes she dreamed of warmer places too. The Orderite turned in the direction of where Naita had said and shifted into her own fighting stance. “At least a fight will warm us up a little?” She was so tired of killing them. “Let me kill this one Naita okay?” The Khehora had killed the last one they had encountered and she wanted this kill now. “If we make this quick we can both return to sunnier places.” Quick and painless, just the way she liked it. Now the dragon just needed to come a little closer.

“Well, sure, 'less it...” Naita hissed as he dragon spewed a gout of half-frozen water at her. It clung to her, freezing into a crust of icicles. “D-d-d-does that!” she chattered angrily, her magic blazing inside her. The ice melted away, eventually becoming steam as she spat a ball of flame at the dragon. Satisfied by its singed fur, Naita advanced. “Good point, matey!” she said, motivated by the thought of sunny places. Like beaches, and cliffs and hot springs...

Ohhh, hot springs...

And lava too, but that wasn't for bathing.

“To warm an' sunny places!” she roared, a very appropriate battle cry as she charged the dragon. She dodged its attacks and leapt, tackling the massive thing to the ground in a fury of claws and what flame she could muster. “BURN, YE ********' FURRY ********!” she screeched, taking some solace from the horrified expression on the dragon's face as she burned its feathers for their warmth. She clawed at its denuded scales, and it clawed back. They tumbled along the tundra, a blue and white mire of steam, water, ice, fur, smoke, blood, and claws...

Well… That hadn’t gone as she’d wished it had. Xenosa advanced on the duo fighting. She wasn’t sure as to how she was going to separate them yet as she followed their movement but she held her knife in hand waiting for the perfect time to strike. And when it came, Xenosa plunged the dagger into the Aiskalas neck, a few inches from Naitas own neck, and removed it just as quickly. The blow would kill the dragon slowly if Naita didn’t kill it quickly. If she got the chance however, she would stick another dagger into that dragons neck once more.

Naita screeched with a wild, joyful rage and tore at the briefly distracted dragon, savaging its neck so hard that the dagger fell out, no longer having anything to cling to. The dragon gasped, once, and was gone, Naita tumbling to the ground as it faded out from under her. She shook herself, blood spattering and congealing in the snow. “Ugh. Crap.” she said, not sure how much of the red that stained her hide was hers. “I'm all damp.” As if fortelling a dire future, she sneezed, sending a plume of warm smoke through her nostrils. “Oh, Piss.” she cursed unhappily, shivering and looking for all the world like some sort of bizzare, fluffed up dragonbird. "That was stupid" She sneezed again, less dramatically, and furled her wings around her.

Xenosa chuckled and went to pick up both dagger and orb. “Think of it this way, now we can leave and head for much warmer places.” Looking around Xenosa opened her pouch with her orbs and counted them. “I think you should leave the wintery tundra before you catch a cold and die,” there had to be some sort of irony or pun in there about a Friani getting a cold. “Which means I shall part ways with you here. I wish you well Naita and perhaps if you are ever in Serenia you might visit me.” Xen did a small waved and opened her wings, she still wanted to get one more orb before night time.

“Yeah?!” the khehora snapped – a good natured snap that went no where close to the magescian's delicate and fleshy limbs, “Ye think?!” She stretched her aching wings. She was injured, but she wanted off of this place. The sea, blue and just distant enough to provide a destination, called her away from these cold shores.

“Sure, I'll look for ye.” she drawled, slapping her tail in the snow and leaving a bloody smear as she grinned at the Orderite. “Safe travels to ye too.” she said, “If you're off, I'm off.” and with that, she took a running start towards the tantalizing blue and leapt into the air, entering the sky with powerful beats, and off to warmer lands...
