Pekee sat on one of the many ledges near the spot she had chosen to be her den. It was a nice little spot, many bumpy hills for sliding around when she wanted to play with cubs. Plus the little wedge between two hills where her cave was shielded her from a majority of the snow most days. For such a chatty lioness though, it was a bit odd that Pekee's den wasn't in the very center of the pride but rather a bit on the edge.
She wouldn't admit it but she liked to have some days to herself as well. Just sometimes though, she got lonely frequently and going and chatting with anyone she found was a good remedy for this. Lately though she felt a bit odd. She wasn't lonely, she felt surrounded by friends and she was happy. Yet still she felt that she hadn't talked with Aquapuga enough. It was odd because usually she only had to speak with someone once a day or two before feeling satisfied and chatting with somebody else.
It wasn't as if she just wanted to talk with him about something either, she wanted to be around him. If he told her to shut up and be quiet Pekee would try to do that if it meant being around him... He hadn't really told her to shut up and be quiet before but that possibility and she had decided she'd be quiet if it meant she could be near him some more. Why just hearing his name made her smile!
It was odd. She didn't feel like that towards any of her other friends, but when it came to Aquapuga she just wanted to be closer to him. Pekee was sitting and trying to think about this weird, odd and new feeling she felt. What was it exactly? What was she feeling...

Aquapuga was creeping about, trying to find Pekee, but not catch anyone's attention. His adopted cubs were fairly grown now. The six adolescent lions were off learning various jobs around the pride, and now the only cub he had to care for was his own spawn, a yellow and blue leopon cub that he had never thought he could produce. Before she was dropped off, he had been keeping females that wanted a serious relationship at a certain distance out of respect for their assumed desire for cubs, since he believed he could not have cubs. Females like her mother were only looking for brief fun, so they were fair game. Aquapuga had learned that he COULD have cubs when the mother had dropped their daughter off. She was in no position to raise the cub, and certainly did not want the stigma that came from having a hybrid cub. Being a hybrid himself, Aquapuga was glad to take his daughter as she was a miracle to him, and this changed everything he had planned for his life. He could HAVE cubs, so he could get a mate, give her a family... everything he was denying himself was now possible. With the realization of what he could now do, Aquapuga had started thinking on what he wanted to change in his life. The biggest thing was he wanted to find a female to have more cubs with... and he had decided he had the perfect female in mind. There was a chatty lioness that he had failed to find a nice mate for and he thought perhaps she might consider him now. He was not the best choice for a mate, but he thought that Pekee would make a wonderful mother, and she certainly would make life lively. He gave a small smile as he spotted the lioness and sneaked up on her. "You know for a lioness with such a pronounced voice, you are hard to find these days. You should have a den like mine, nice and close to the queen at the center of the pride, where I can find you."

Pekee jumped, having not expected anyone to wander out this far to her den. Her thoughts of her new weird feeling would have to be put on pause, she figured, as she turned around. Though it was then that the chatty girl blinked a couple times, thinking maybe she imagining it, but then realized she wasn't all in the span of a few seconds.
Aquapuga was the one who showed up?
"Good morning!" She chimed in all her usual pleasantness. The presence of Aquapuga near her made her feel like her heart skipped a beat, and the odd feeling had returned as suddenly as she had shoved it away. What was it? She wondered, and felt like maybe she should ask Aquapuga since he was right here what the feeling was, but then he had said something already! It would be rude to not respond.
"I like my home out here and away from everyone, because sometimes I like to be alone for thinking." She told him and then laughed before saying, "that must sound strange coming from me though."

Aquapuga chuckled. "But you would be easier for me to find if you were closer... I would like you closer." The male only hesitated a moment before deciding he was going to approach the subject that brought him out here. He started with nuzzling Pekee. "I was looking for you to talk about something." He needed to approach this with care, but he was not sure exactly how to do that. The leopon still was not the best at interacting with others in a positive manner. "I am sure you noticed the cubs I adopted are all growing up... but I had a surprise dropped at my den recently..." Aquapuga could have chosen many ways to go about telling this lioness he liked her and wanted to be her mate. Most of them would have been wonderfully smooth and charming. Instead, he went with something rather silly. "I have a cub now that is mine by blood, and I thought perhaps she and the others i adopted could use a mother in the den... You would be a wonderful mother to them." He was really lacking in courting skills. The leopon was aware of just how bad it sounded too, but nothing could be done about it once the words were said.

Had she no fur, it would be plainly evident to see Pekee blushing as Aquapuga nuzzled her. The weird feeling was making her ears hot and she felt excited and scared all at the same time. Her stomach was even feeling like she had eaten hyper bunnies and they were hopping and jumping all over her belly. Sort of like, what was the expression? Sort of like she ate butterflies? She didn't know what a butterfly looked like but it must have been a very active creature.
"You want me... To move in with you?" Pekee asked, tilting her head and staring at him with honest curiosity. It wasn't a negative or confused stare, more like a confirmation stare. As if she was making sure she had actually heard him properly, as if she didn't believe what he was trying to tell her.
It sounded like something from a dream, Aquapuga wanted Pekee to live with him? He had a new daughter too, and he wanted her to be a mother to his daughter?! But maybe she had imagined that. Maybe it was just the weird feeling that made her think he had said that. So she just stared at him and waited for him to reassure her that the weird feeling hadn't messed with her ears, that she had heard him properly.
That he kind of liked her more than just as a friend.

"That would be proper for a new mate to do, yes." Aquapuga's nerves were actually calmed by the way Pekee seemed nervous. If SHE was uncomfortable, he could draw strength from not being the only one, and from there he could project confidence that he might not fully feel. He sounded as calm as could be as he continued. "Some male has to be lucky enough to be your mate... why not me? My kind normally cannot have cubs... but I have proof now that I can... so I could be a proper mate to you, Pekee." Give her cubs of her own to keep her busy and out of trouble. The idea of striped cubs with his colors on them amused him in many ways. Aquapuga might be lacking courting skills, but he was not at all lacking in family these days. He had almost a complete family... he just needed a mate to fit into that last hole. He was certain that the talkative, hyper lioness would make a good mate even if he might not deserve a mate as nice as she. "I will give you time to think on it if you need. I told you once I was going to find you a mate... I decided that I was better than the rest of the pride members for this role."

The weird feeling in her belly seemed to grow even more excited now. So she hadn't imagined things? Aquapuga wanted Pekee to be his mate and... and truthfully she found that she wanted to be his. "I... I don't think I need time to think." She said nervously. "I um... I want to be your mate, I want to move in with you. A-and I think no other in the pride is better suited for me then you!" She stood, trying to make her point.
"I have a funny feeling though, and I need to figure out what it is. Because my tummy is all excited and um... I feel all hot and nervous and I can't stop thinking about you all the time!" Saying all that didn't make the funny feeling go away, at all. In fact she felt even more flustered, embarrassed? "But I don't know what that funny feeling is. So I can't move in until I figure out what it is. Because what if the funny feeling is because I'm sick? I don't want to move in if I'm sick! Then I'd get everyone sick and that wouldn't be good at all!" Pekee seemed sincerely flustered over this, because she was.
She had no idea what the funny feeling was, but she didn't want to get Aquapuga and his family sick just because she was his mate and didn't get the funny feeling fixed. That would be a disaster! They'd all hate her then!

Aquapuga did something a bit uncustomary for him. He gave a smile to the female and pounced her to snuggle. Her answer had not been expected and yet, it had made his day to hear. She wanted him, she wanted to move into his den, be his mate, and have his cubs! The leopon gave Pekee's ear an affectionate lick. "I have the same funny feeling around you, Pekee. My stepfather told me that is a sign of affection... or love." Love. He had found a lioness to love like his mother had found her pansy leopard to love. Things had certainly changed for the leopon. "If you need time, take it. I will not force you to move in, but when you DO join me, perhaps we can start our own family. Pretty little striped cubs like you udnderpaw, sounds nice." Aquapuga gave her a last nuzzle before letting her up. There was a limit to how much affection he would let himself show at once. He looked around to make sure nobody was watching them and gave her a quick lick on the muzzle.

Pekee found herself surprised when Aquapuga snuggled her with a pounce. She hadn't really considered him the affectionate type, but it made her all the more happy that it turned out he was! She could feel herself grinning like a fool when he licked her ear, and that then turned into just a big bubbly feeling of joy. "So I'm not sick!" She exclaimed in joy. Aquapuga explained the funny feeling was love, and love was good thing so obviously she couldn't possibly be sick then.
She actually resisted the urge to giggle upon watching Aquapuga look around to check that nobody saw him as he licked her muzzle. She didn't know how exactly to explain it, but it made her laugh.
The idea of cute little striped cubs like her was amusing. So long as she didn't eat snow or anything weird while she was pregnant with them Pekee was certain they'd turn out just like Aquapuga imagined!
"I don't need time." She said, finally standing as well. "Well I guess I do need a little time to move all my stuff into your den but I mean I don't need time to think about it." She smiled widely. "I'd love to move in with you Aquapuga!"

Aquapuga looked smug as could be as Pekee said she would move her things into his den. He might not be the best choice of mate for her, but he was certainly the luckiest feline around to get her as a mate. "Then I will help you move and we will make sure everyone knows you are my mate... Elsa." He looked even more smug at that. Oh Elsa would be thrilled for him, and he could not wait to see the happy look on his friend's face when he told her he had found a mate and was going to have a family! "I cannot wait for you to be in my den and starting a family with me... Our cubs will be like their mother, I am sure." Aquapuga leads Pekee back toward the pride and her den to start moving things. He was in a hurry to get her to his den and introduced to his children, all of them. The newest, a leopon cub, would know her as mother now. The others would perhaps not know her as mother, but he had a feeling they would take to her very well. CaliWolfe I think we can call this fin right here.
