Custom: Full
Character Name: Ysarrik Valarentu
Race: Hybrid (50% Oblivionite, 25% Orderite, 25% Dovaa)
Gender: Male
Clan: Ysali
Class: Mage
Appearance:
      User Image
    • He has one eye orb that will float between the two sockets. Sometimes on the right, or the left, wherever it wishes to be. He has no control over it.
    • His scales are placed sporadically on his body and are a light gray in his Apprentice stage. After his clan choosing, they will turn green along with his eye.

Personality:
      Positive:
        • Independent - Fiercely alone. Ysarrik has grown up to be capable of taking care of himself and surviving off of the land. His mother has taught him the basics of it all; and that is something he consistently thanks her for. Though he doesn't need her for anything, he views himself as vastly independent from others his age.
        • Perfectionist - Everything has a place and everything must be picked up and put in it's place. Growing up in a swamp, one would think that to be a perfectionist's nightmare. No, not for Ysarrik. He's tidy as can be when it comes to his tomes, studies, and writings. Everything has to be in alphabetical order, done in just-so fashion. Dirt and grime, swamp water, and mud have all been a large part of Ysarrik's growth. He'll always have a special place in his heart for the marsh.
        • Studious - Studying, reading, practicing. He's never finished until he's perfected a new spell. Ysarrik is one to be found reading and studying books for many hours a day. His mother has always told him that knowledge is power; and he knows that she's very, very right.

      Neutral:
        • Determined - As stated, Ysarrik is a studious person; though this also makes him quite determined as well. Once he starts any sort of project, he won't give up until he's finished. It could take days, weeks, or months; that doesn't matter, as long as he's making progress forward.
        • Enigmatic - Mysterious is his middle name. Ysarrik gives very little information to anyone else about him. He may give his name (or a false name) to whomever may be asking; and he says little to others. He's learned to distance himself from people as much as possible; that way he doesn't get himself hurt.
        • Stubborn - If he's wrong, he's still right. End of story. One of Ysarrik's quirks is his incredible stubbornness. He'll never admit defeat. He'll twist words, go back on what he had said before until the person he's arguing with gives in. Solid proof could even be shown and he would not give up his position. He's stupidly stubborn to a fault.

      Negative:
        • Apathetic - He cares very little about others. A little bit conceited and selfish, he is sure to keep himself uninvolved with other's lives the best he can. He has no interest in anything but magic and being the strongest he can be.
        • Asocial - Growing up completely isolated from other human interaction has caused the boy to avoid any type of social gathering. He'd rather be at the swamp studying and playing with dark magic than be out with other Magescians; not that he would be able to, especially at such a young age.
        • Devious - Always a bit unethical, the Hybrid will constantly do things to undermine and take control over a situation. Whatever works best for him at the time. Deceiving, bribery, blackmail. Anything to get the job done.
        • Morbid - Overall, Ysarrik has a dark personality. He constantly thinks of death and disease, borderline homicide. A lot of this stems from his mother and being outcast from the rest of society's norms. This is what fuels him to be the best he can in both blood and dark magics. He also can't wait to bring things back to life; oh the power he will hold.
        • Zany - Ysarrik has this bad habit of talking to himself constantly. He has many little quirks about him that others may find off putting or strange. He doesn't care. He talks himself into and out of doing things all the time. That's just who he is. Some may say he has some sort of mental disorder or "demons" who use him to talk to each other; but all in all, he just has himself and that's all he really depends on.

Biography/Background:
One dreary and rainy night, a baby cries. The baby of a hateful race. Spite, malicious intent, and fear all drove this little living newborn out of a terrible place into a much more terrifying one. This is the story of Ysarrik Valarentu.

A night just about nine months prior to the birth of this delightful child, the Oblivionite guards found a Hybrid man with wings like angels and horns like demons lying with a woman of their own kin. The Hybrid was taken outside of the city walls and tied to a pole, a spectacle for all who wished to see. That same evening, after hours of brutal torture, clipped wings, and slurs being thrown at him left and right, he was burned. The Oblivionite woman who lived to see it all wore the scarlet A on her chest for the next nine months. Everywhere she went, she was the living spectacle. The talk of the city, the whore who slept with a lowlife hybrid. That was, until the baby was born.

Ysarrik, born to a full blooded Oblivionite mother and an Orderite/Dovaa hybrid father, was a baby scorned at birth. Sometimes in the Magescian's culture, they'll accept a child who looks like them, even if they have other blood running through their veins. As the baby cried, those caring for the Oblivionite woman known as Q'ardona Valarentu, looked down at him with disgust. They handed the child to it's mother and left without a word. The care for her stopped at that very moment. Q'ardona looked down at her beautiful baby boy whom she and her lover had created and realized that he was perfect. Perfect for her. After all, he was all she had to remind her of her forbidden love. "Ysarrik." she spoke. "Your name is Ysarrik, just like your father."

Within a week, the Oblivionite guards took the woman and her child to the edge of town and told them that they were never allowed back. They were officially banished at that very moment. It was then that Q'ardona knew she needed to find a suitable living place for her and her baby boy. It was then that she found the Swamplands. The place was beautiful and secluded. It was the place where her and her lover would meet and she recalled all the beautiful times they had within the darker parts of the forest. It was here that she decided to call home.

She took to the land, being a mage herself she was well versed in the dark arts and so she had spells for every which thing. Taking control of the very life the swamp contained, she manipulated it to her liking. Twisting trees and mud together until she formed a small cottage that sat above the swamp's murky waters. There, Q'ardona would raise her child in peace.

And so it began. Ysarrik grew knowing nothing of the outside world in which his mother previously lived. All he had to do growing up was read the tomes that she brought with her (which was quite the selection, being the scholar that she was). He loved and thirsted for knowledge of all kinds. Q'ardona had an assortment of Oblivionite and Orderite literature, as well as many spell tomes that she had collected over the years. It was a great childhood, Ysarrik didn't know the difference.

There were just a few aspects of his life that his mother was weary of: his obsession with life and death, the process of it all, his morbid sense of entitlement and his lust for power. She would find him playing with rats he found in the swamp only to bring them home, dead, hours later to tell his mother of the "miraculous death" the creature fell victim to. He also spoke to himself much of the time, but she accredited that to his loneliness and having literally nobody around except her.

Q'ardona could only see it as his two bloodlines (the Oblivionite and Orderite specifically) clashing together. Life. Death. The power to end it. She couldn't place where exactly it all was coming from and her years upon years of studies of hybrids had never led to any sort of correlation between his race and his personality. All she could do is accept him and love him for what he was, a disturbed, asocial being.

Thoughts on the Great Engagement: Great, as long as they leave him out of it all. He's never been caught up in any major war. He's planning his own takeover and he doesn't have nearly that much time for other people's problems, especially not a war that hasn't yet reached his swamp.
Thoughts on the Magescian Races:
    • Oblivionites - Aside from being of primarily Oblivionite blood and growing up with a pureblooded Oblivionite mother, he has a feeling of hatred towards them. After all, they're the ones who banished them in the first place. He doesn't care for any of the races, really, but Oblivionites have a special place in his heart; and that's not a good place to be. Especially if you're Draco Verrano or any of his idiotic followers.

    • Orderites - There are few things in this world Ysarrik can stand. Orderites aren't one of them. His mother is a pureblood and still holds the belief that Oblivionites are the supreme race. Ysarrik has a warped sense of the Orderites and his mother's hatred of them. He's found many tomes containing the power of the Orderites. The fact that their so technologically advanced in comparison to the Oblivionite grunts is fascinating to him. He's also found that they can be self-righteous assholes through the Oblivionite readings. Either way, if he ever came into contact with a real Orderite, he would likely smite them down with darkness. In his eyes, both Orderites and Oblivionites can burn.

    • Dovaa - The only thing that fascinates Ysarrik about the Dovaa is that they have descended from dragons - a powerful being who grants power to their killer. He knows that Dovaa wouldn't be able to grant him this same power, yet they have mastered all the other elements aside from dark and light. This intrigues him, especially being made up of part Dovaa. His readings have led him to believe that the Dovaa are fence sitters, probably because he's never been able to get ahold of any Dovaa writings. They're the fence sitters who have to choose a side. He wonders why they ever would, why wouldn't they just sit up in their Plane and leave the Orderites and Oblivionites to fight it out amongst themselves? That, in Ysarrik's opinion, is the stupidest thing to do. If they really thought of themselves as the most powerful race, leave Magesc to fight for itself and come claim victory in their moment of weakness. Then rule over both your Plane and the lowlands altogether. Dovaa are stupid and deserve to burn just like the rest.

    • Hybrids - If he had a bond with any people, it would be the Hybrids. Outcast just like he and his mother. Different, but much more powerful. He takes pride in knowing that the Hybrids have been known to be more powerful than their pureblooded brothers. In books, it was the Hybrid, Astaroth, who created the Khehora in the first place. A Hybrid just like him in every way. Their power is unmatched, and he recognizes a Hybrid's potential for greatness, even if the other races don't.

Thoughts on the Dragons and Khehora:
    • Dragons - Power. That's all he sees them as. Through his studies he realizes that his power is strengthened due to theirs. The few that have made their way into his swamp, he's watched his mother burn to the ground with dark magic. But taking their souls and using them is what he truly wants to do. Taking their souls and using them to power himself up against others.

    • Khehora - Like the dragons, he also believes that Khehora are a sense of power. He doesn't care for them nearly as much, however, as their power is only strong once the bond is completed at the birth. Otherwise, they're as useless as any other race would be.

.: Places :.

Decided to create places that can hopefully be added to the map one day. I read somewhere one time that we were allowed to create places, maybe this can be one? Hopefully with enough critique I can get them approved!

Quote:
User ImageSwamplands
-- Deep within the forests of Endeldarth lies the Swamplands, a large patch of land which covers a few miles. Thick swamp water and brush cover the grounds, and it's secluded from the rest of the forest. A beautiful stroll through the paved forests floor wouldn't allow you to come across the swamp, however. One would have to be quite lost to find it. Much mystery has shrouded the swamp in the past and not much is known what lies deeper within as nobody has been courageous enough to venture further.

.: Tomes :.

I thought it would be fun to create some tomes now that this summoner is in my brain. I am not sure about prices, I'm just going off of what the other's in the shop are going for. I've also tried to be as fair as possible in regards to ENG cost. If something sounds outrageous, let me know and we can change things up before they're approved! I'd love to get these tomes out there for other's to use too!

I have to say that this guy is interesting. He's quirky and different than most of the other characters. Too many are either "mean" or "too nice" most of the time with lots of overlap. Just be careful about the whole Ataya, thing. Don't want to step on any toes. I'd talk to Uke if I were you. He's technically the only other one to have a character who does this sort of summoner/necromancer thing I do believe. At least the only active one. We had other blood mages in the past but I don't believe they're active anymore. But hey, you're going Ysali, lol. At least he's Aiskala...and I'm sure that'll procure differences. Your character also sounds much more "loner" type...will he have any friends other than his mother?

Anyway, that's all I have to say about personality and things. His look is unique, from what I'm trying to imagine, so I'd say you're all good there, going with the 50% Oblivionite/25/25 Other.

As far as the place, maybe we could reword some of it? I can't seem to put my finger on it all...but I enjoy the idea of a swamp on Soudul, so hey, I'm down for adding it.

As far as the tomes...this is probably one of my favorite parts, lol. We really don't have many tomes at all for the darker magics, as they're just not as widely accepted...so having a few more will be nice...but I do think that they should be more, rare? Like make it Expert+ for almost all of them? Maybe Adept on only the small animal? Bringing dead to life is a big, big thing. I incorporated Conjuration and Blood into Magesc for people like you and Uke who wanted a morbid character. So I feel like these tomes are cool, but maybe there should be some sort of restriction on tomes? I'll have to talk it over with staff and see...thinking more in depth about things is opening my eyes to some. A character would just have to practice it a lot...like Uke's character. That's dedication right there. Anyway, I'll wait to see what other's have to say before I give my official approval, but this is a great start.

Actually, Brolis, thanks so much for the critique, and I look forward to hearing from the others. I've already spoken to Uke, actually. xD We're talking things through now. And I understand what you mean about the magic tomes and things. Uke actually said something quite similar. We've worked out that the way the two bring about life is going to be quite different. Sure, blood magic will be involved with both, but my Ysarrik will be taking a rotting and regrowth type of summoning, whereas his Ata is more a spirit binding type of necromancer. Similar, but different nevertheless. And we'll keep in touch about the character's similarities and things too, as to not step on any toes. :3 Promise!

To be completely honest, I don't see him finding and making many friends, no. xD A lot of people I'm sure will be completely turned off by him and his quirks, lol. Plus, he doesn't like people. But as I've told Uke, who needs friends when you have yourself? ;]

I thiiiiink I've discussed Ysarrik enough with you at this point that I'ma just slap an approval on this one. If there are any issues/confusion later, can just discuss it over aim - he looks like he'll be a fun character! Gonna hold off on the tomes for now, though, since the battle system is being taken under advisement and currently they're tied into that. Character has the okay, though! :]

Alrighty, Fae, you've got my approval too~ Seems like you've put lots of thought into him, and anything else will work itself out as you play him. GO FORTH.
