It had been quite some time since Dezani had been to Yera. Generally he frequented Isd and Dernd more than any other since trade and beast taming and trapping was pretty common around those parts, and that's where his father wanted him to be. Yera had been more of a personal trip than anything else. He had wanted to see the many poscuta and perhaps spot a Shifter or two since he had never seen one before. Though really the main reason was he missed the big forests. Isd wasn't as thick of a forest, and Sauti was pretty much barren. Yera was a nice change of place he could deal with. Plus it made his father angry - a bonus on his part.

Maybe you can even try and speak to someone. Just this once?

Definitely not. Not happening. Nope. He was there to see fuzzy animals and pretty trees. Not die of embarrassment or collapse.

Enter second awkward child!

After having left her house where her mother was busy cleaning, Syqvara walked in the general direction of the outskirts of town. A book in her hands she seemed to pay little mind to where it was she was going, though she did take the time to reach up and push her hair behind her ear to keep it away from her eyes. She was oddly thankful that it was only on the one side and that her mother had taken the time to put some braids in to hold some of it. Chewing on her bottom lip in thought, Sy didn't realize if she was going to walk right into someone or not.

Having not been paying any attention to his surroundings, Dezani was quite surprised when he collided with a solid form. Was it a tree? Or perhaps a rock? Oh no, too soft to be any of those. Of course it had to be another person he had collided with and not some other inanimate object. Just his luck it seemed. It looked like collapsing was going to be something he did after all. With a huff the young Leafling stumbled over; landing hard on his behind as he did so. Supplies and his journal scattered across the road, and the poor unfortunate soul he collided with was not much better. With a dark blush and a duck of his head, Dezani effectively cowered trying to find his journal or hide from the girl.

"Oof!" The book she was reading was slammed into her chest just as she made contact with another person and when they fell she fell with them. Her feet lost their balance and she tumbled forward. Sy ended up dropping her book in order to try and save herself from the landing. While Dezani landed on his bottom, Syqvara landed on him. "Ah! I-I'm so s-sorry. I-I was reading a-and.." Oh there it was. Her stutter. Anxiety filled her and the soft pink of her cheeks flared to new life as a red.

A squeak left the leaf boy as the girl landed on him, and that's when the panic really set in. The girl had landed on him. What was he going to do? What could he do? His journal was scattered somewhere off to the side of the road and he had no idea how to speak to her or anything. He needed some sort of distraction or just something in general to help him get away. But what could he possibly do in such an awkward situation such as this? There really wasn't much he could do other than stare at the girl on top of him. Oh what a joy to be around he was.

The person she landed on was male. Syqvara stared just as he stared at her. Well this was awkward! He didn't seem to be able to say anything and neither could she, not after the initial fall. Sy felt her cheeks warming to very uncomfortable point. It seemed they were both stuck in a "deer caught in headlights" moment, neither being able to say or do anything. Her mind was racing with all kinds of things to say but it seemed her body was paralyzed.

Dezani could spot his journal from here. All he needed to do was get it. Shifting a bit, he tried to slide out from under the girl to reach the item. She wasn't speaking to him yet, oddly enough. Perhaps she was just as nervous as he? That would be something. He'd never met anyone who even came close to his anxiety level. He really didn't think it was possible. Chewing on his lip as he thought he glanced back over to the journal and then back at the girl. Perhaps if he pointed at what he was trying to get she would understand?

Well you can try and see. The worst that happens is she doesn't.

Shrugging, Dezani pointed towards the direction of the journal and hoped she'd notice what he was motioning towards.

Sy was still frozen for the time being until she noticed the boy look at something then at her and then back at the something while pointing. It was then she realized she had yet to get off him. "Ah!" Boy was it embarrassing. Syqvara moved so that she was off him, though she did reach for his journal for him since he seemed to want it. Awkwardly she handed it to him, avoiding eye contact now, and did her best to locate her own book that had been dropped.

Dezani thanked whichever god that had listened that the girl was finally off of him. He wasn't sure he could handle much more of the growing embarrassment. He quickly picked up his journal and began to write furiously, hoping his panicked writing was legible to her.

-Sorry for running into you. I truly apologize for inconveniencing you.- He wrote, holding it up for her to read. It had become habit for him to practice his writing in order for others to more easily read his communications to them, but with how shaky his hands were he wasn't sure if she would be able to read his handwriting or not. He really hoped she would though.

So when he's using his journal I'll use -Hyphens.- If he actually speaks I'll use normal "Quotes." If that's okay? smile

Before she could find her book she noticed that the boy was holding his journal out to her. Blinking Syqvara would turn her head so that she could look at him then read what was written. It took her a moment to realize that he hadn't actually made a sound yet. A confused look crossed her face before she drew in her bottom lip a bit oddly to chew on in thought. Holding her hand out for the journal she'd stutter out a reply. "W-would you m-mind?" Sy was hoping he would allow her to answer him on paper since he had spoken to her in such a manner.

She....wanted to write in his journal? How odd. He'd never had anyone request to speak to him in the same way he communicated with people. It was quite odd, but not something he minded. His journal was precious to him, but if it helped her then who was he to deny her? Hesitantly he nodded and handed her his beloved journal, hoping she wouldn't try and ruin it like his father had attempted to.

With the journal passed to her she gave a thanking nod before she also started to write. Under his panicked script she jotted down her reply to him. -Not your fault. I had my nose in a book.- There. Her writing was a bit neater than his but not by much. Sy was still nervous. Handing his book back to him she'd once more pick up her hunt for the medical book she'd dropped. It would be bad for her to lose it since it wasn't truly hers. Now where had it gotten off to? A hand came up to push her hair away from her face and behind her ear but it did little to help as the bangs worked their way free a moment later.

Dezani smiled at her response, writing his own reply to what she had written. -It must have been a very interesting book to have kept you that occupied. Would you like help searching for where it went?- There. With his hands more steady now his handwriting was back to its normal elegant script. He was still finding it odd that she was so willing to communicate with him like this, but he quite enjoyed it and it helped to ease his panicked state. He had noticed her looking around for her own book, so it was only natural that he would have to help her find it. He may hate social situations, but he wasn't a completely terrible person.

Again she read what was written, this time smiling at the fact that his handwriting had improved. Syqvara nodded her head to answer the question. "P-please." She was starting to look a bit worried now. The book in question had landed on it's bottom and was leaning against a tree base, though it was easy to overlook. Once more pushing her hair behind her ear the leaf girl did her best to search for her lost item. Sy really didn't want to tell her friend that she had lost it.

It would be no good if she lost her book and wasn't able to continue reading. It seemed very important to her, and the panicked look on her face was obvious enough. With a short nod of his head Dezani scrambled up, holding out his hand for the girl to take hold of. After crashing into her he figured helping her up would be the nice thing to do. Besides, it would be no good if they weren't both searching for the book she had lost. She seemed like a pleasant enough girl, so he hoped his presence hadn't caused her too many problems. He knew how hard it was to interact with people and for someone like him it would be just as bad.
